I've worked with Dorothea Williams from this company two separate times now, and she has been an…read moreamazing help to me. I'm 73 and was never good at math (I literally have a mental block about even trying to learn anything that has to do with numbers or money), plus I'm especially intimidated about Taxes and Annuities and IRAs and such. Somehow I have been given incorrect information that once I was living only on Social Security, I didn't have to pay taxes anymore, and when I found out that was incorrect, I freaked out because I hadn't filed a tax return the year before. Being new in town I had no idea where to turn because in my hometown my best friend had done my bookkeeping for me half of my life. I knew I couldn't afford an expensive accountant so I called the Kings County Commission on Aging to see if they could recommend someone to help me. They we're very helpful and connected me to Dorothea, who actually volunteers for them to help out senior citizens. When I called her, she was welcoming and friendly, and put me at ease instantly. Then she kindly and patiently guided me through the process and was able to help me get through it. She has alsobeen very accommodating to my schedule, and made every effort to help me a feel comfortable and relaxed (and not just dumb as I thought I was).

We switched to them in 2018 I believe and never have looked back. Every one we interact with is amazing and the customer service is great. We are located in San Diego and with them way north of us, communicate is still great. By the end of January we also get our envelope with all the paperwork in it and all the questions we need to answer and we throw everything in the envelope and send it back to them. In 2023, I got divorced and Chris was still amazing at helping me understand my new way of filing taxes and even helped me understand my the way I should be doing my w4 forms. No way the other places would do that. Once my son started working Chris and everyone explained how to do his w4 and how to maximize his education credits as well. This year I also sent my boyfriend to them and while he did grip about the price of getting the taxes done, he left with some major knowledge and went straight to his HR department and filed out new w4 forms. It is times like this working with a small but yet large company is great. Chris has gotten to know my family and can let us know where we are making mistakes and the price is worth it. Thank you Chris and everyone there for all your help over the years. It means the world to me and my family knowing our taxes are being filed correctly and we are just not a number.

The long story short is that Ali was incredibly helpful (and patient) and I will be getting my…read moretaxes done with her forever now. I was putting off doing my taxes because I had too many documents that I don't know the name of or how they work. I use turbo tax every year and every year turbo tax gets more expensive and my return gets lower, so this year I figured "why am I going to pay over $300 for a bad return?". So I asked Ali what I can do about it because I work near her business and she told me "let me see". Less then an hour later, my taxes were filed, I got 3x the return I was expecting, I paid significantly less then I would for turbo tax (I DoorDash time to time and TurboTax charges you 2x because you are now an "independent contractor"), and I feel like I even walked out understanding the forms a little better. Honestly she's great, the office is really nice, the parking and accessibility was great, and even the other staff were very nice and patient with me trying to explain what forms I had and didn't have. 10/10 will go again next year.

Overall, I am pleased with my transaction, however, I have no idea if taxes have been transmitted and received by the State of California or the Internal Revenue Service. It would seem that the transmission of the data and acceptance by each agency would be provided to the customer.
