Holy catfish! What a super day and super experience going under the knife of Dr. Behm. Heavy…read morekudos to him, his office staff, his physician assistant and the surgery department of Marcus Daly Hospital here in Hamilton, Montana. This was a very positive and excellent experience in all respects. WARM BLANKETS and lots of introductions and briefings along with getting IV fluids started and then into surgery itself. More introductions and now anti-biotic drip plus oxygen. I wanted to see the arthroscopic knee operation so opted for a spinal block rather than being knocked out on anesthesia. What an experience that I now have in-common with women who had epidurals during delivery of their children. The numbness was an absolute absence of feeling from the lower back down. Simply amazing. As a note, I have had continual and significant back pain as a souvenir of my Vietnam infantry combat tour and 20 year Army career and for the first time in over 40 years I felt no pain in the back. I really enjoyed those few hours without pain. After a lot of scrubbing and prep from a cast of supporting characters in the OR, Dr. Behm made the incisions and inserted a variety of "tools" or "probes" which cut away cartilage and sucked away the debris. He told me what he was doing and answered my questions as I watched the same color TV screen that he was watching. Absolutely fascinating and I felt nothing except for the shaking of the table as he moved my leg around to expose other areas of the knee joint for his repair work. In 45 minutes we were done and I went to recovery where more warm blankets were laid upon me and I awaited the return of much of the feeling to my legs. That was about an hour and then back to the pre-surgery room where I had to take in more fluids and void before I could be released. Mary the receptionist had cookies and the nursed brought juices while my wife and I, and passing nurses, chatted and waited. Finally the two liters of IV were successful and I was discharged. I have no concerns about the upcoming right knee operation and will opt for the spinal and TV again. Pretty neat experience.

He got the backstory of the injury right away and he listened well and was a personable guy. Then he pulled out a knee model and showed me how a normal knee works and what roles the different tendons play, then showed what my knee was doing and explained what I can do to fix it before we decide on an MRI and a knee scope. Two thumbs up!

Dr Anderson was professional, listened well, and was very kind. He organized my concerns, ordered needed tests and explained everything precisely and clearly. I was extremely impressed by Dr Anderson. Nola, a medical assistant, was amazing in how efficient she was and how well she recorded my answers to health questions. Sarah, a phlebotomist did the best blood draw I've ever had - amazing! John did my x-rays and was very friendly and professional. I am just in awe of how well Bitterroot Health is run and the people that are employed there. What a great team! After years of trying to find good healthcare, I finally found it! I am overjoyed with the care I received here. Blessings to all that take care of others! 5 stars B. Dixon

Terrible care, completely dismissed everything I had to say. I cant keep any food down so they just…read moredid scans and finally gave me pain meds so I could uncurl from a ball. But when that wore off and I told them they then told me no. When I told the nurse to not touch my left arm for labs as I had just recently had surgery she went ahead and did anyway. I kept telling her no and she said I was aggressive with her and working against her. So I kicked her out of my room. I cant eat or drink anything right now and instead of doing anything I was told to go home and live off of bread and water. I am not happy. I know something is wrong with me but I was completely dismissed. I am not happy. I will never come here again. I will deal with the pain and go to missoula. O by the way I was discharged nothing was solved and the results of my tests they didn't even fully disclose to me. So now im home puking and having abdominal pain still and cant do anything about it because I genuinely feel like it doesnt matter and ill just get dismissed again anyway.

Knee surgery, recovery, PT. All part of the process and necessary. After laying around not…read moremoving, icing my swollen knee and taking pain killers I hurt all over. My back was sore and I felt like an older man than I am. The physician said it was normal as I was not walking correctly, was favoring the one knee and that physical therapy would help be normalize again. Hamilton Physical Therapy operates within our work-out place, The Canyons, bills themselves as a Sports Rehabilitation Center and Dr. Behm, my orthopedic surgeon, recommended them, so there I went. My opinion of PT up until my sessions was rather negative as all I saw were people being supervised as they peddled a stationary bike. Was I wrong and off-base. Jen and Thomas have been wonderfully professional and extremely competent body engineers. They truly understand how the body works and what one needs to do to make it work correctly. In my hour sessions I have been put through seemingly simple, but very arduous exercises. And I had to do them correctly so as to maximize the effect on whatever part of my legs needed them. After an hour I was tired and initially I could not practice for two days afterward as I was too sore to do so. Talking with a friend who inquired as to how I was recovering from my surgery and PT she mentioned that her mother had also undertaken similar surgery, but did not do any PT afterwards. This resulted in her never walking correctly again. A big lesson and one that encourages me to stick with it. Hamilton PT is a great bunch of professionals that personalize treatments. I have been very impressed with them, as well as how valuable PT is in post surgery recovery.
