OK so normally I don't like these trendy super-schmick kinds of places (of which Broadbeach has…read moremany) but the food here was REALLY REALLY good. And this is a burger place. And I'm a vegan. I was vacationing on the Gold Coast with my parents, and we went in here for dinner on a whim because we were dressed pretty casually and they looked a little more forgiving of boardshorts and flip-flops than the other trendy dinner spots nearby. At first I had my reservations about whether or not I could eat anything here, but when I told the manager I was vegan, he didn't even bat an eye. He said they have two veggie burgers on the menu, neither of which uses egg in the binder. He volunteered this information on his own -- I didn't even have to ask, which definitely shows he's knowledgeable about veganism, because most restaurant proprietors have no clue that a lot of veggie burgers use egg. There are two veggie burgers -- the Eats Roots and Leaves ($14.50, red lentil and chickpea patty with coleslaw and tomato relish) and the Magic Mushroom ($12, mushroom patty with lettuce, red peppers, feta, and garlic ailoi). He told me the Magic Mushroom could be made vegan without the feta and aioli, but I'm not a mushroom fanatic so I opted with the Eats Roots and Leaves, which was DELICIOUS. All the flavours just melded together perfectly, and the patty stayed together perfectly, no crumbling. The bun wasn't too scratchy or hard (like some burger buns in Oz are) and it was a very filling dinner with a side of fries for under $20. My parents also enjoyed their (meaty) burgers and fries. Make no mistake, this place is a drinking establishment too -- as evidenced by their splashy cocktail and wine list, and the raucous (possible hen's party) group of women enjoying their bevvies next to us. So you don't have to have a meal here to enjoy this place (although the food really is great.) The atmosphere is...well, Broadbeach. Trendy, shiny, and all those other adjectives. A splashy mural was painted on one wall, depicting a typical Gold Coast beach scene (including bikini-clad maidens and ibis stealing food), and some of the seating areas had swings suspended from the ceiling as chairs! I wanted to sit at a table with swings, but my parents weren't keen and the hen's party swooped in and seized them anyway. The place is buzzing, it's trendy, it's very Broadbeach-y -- but the food is delicious and it's a fun place, and I love that they are so accommodating for vegans.

Who doesn't like a good burger? And who doesn't like a good bar? Nobody worth knowing, that's who…read more And here we have a burger bar, combining the very best of both. Tucked away in the swanky strip of bars and restaurants along Oracle Boulevard in Broadbeach, this place is a pleasant surprise. Pleasant because it's welcoming and hip at the same time - not an easy trick to pull off - and surprising because the food is actually reasonably priced while also being delicious. I like everything about this joint. For a start, there's a wide array of seating to suit just about any group. Tables inside and out to suit parties of all sizes, a couple of comfy couches, an actual bar with bar stools in case you're on your own, and even a few swing seats hung from the ceiling (haven't seen that before). The bar is well stocked with an excellent array of beers from the crafty to the usual suspects, and a wine list of similar merit sits comfortably alongside what looks a handy offering of cocktail choices for those that way inclined. I enjoyed the 'Cow Pig Cow' burger but there's one for every taste, including fish and vegie options, and other nibblies for those not in the burger mood. Get there.

If you're into a paleo or keto lifestyle, this is the place for you. Full stop…read more From the savory avocado toast selections (on a bread consisting of nuts & seeds in lieu of flour) to the delightful low-carb ice cream (as well as milkshakes, ice cream sandwiches, and sundaes), everything I had here thoroughly satisfied my keto-craving palate. Would return in a heartbeat if I find myself back in the Gold Coast region.

Not knowing anything about the paleo diet, we discovered that this establishment is a proponent of all things paleo. We had the paleo brekky and were hooked. Their coconut yoghurt is absolutely divine. Grass fed beef and organic chicken used to make their bone broth...this type of establishment is not what the multinational food corporations want you to know about. The energy and vitality one ingests from consuming real whole foods makes one wonder why one ate multinational crap and junk food for so long! I also bought the family sized take home vacuum pack of chicken bone broth. Wow! What a meal. Absolutely love this food and the clean eating lifestyle it promotes. When ever I eat at a cafe I usually order the big breakfast, preferring not to eat the carbs. Brio doesn't do big breakfasts, but the breakfast they do do are so much better for ya. Been eating there everyday since. I missed Saturday but made up for that by going in twice on Friday! #boom They are closed Sunday. Love, love and mad love.

It's just boring food and experience. It didn't feel much better than something you'd pull out of…read morethe cupboard. The staff are likeable and they refill your table water, but the food is just lame. We had pancakes and a muesli. The pancakes don't come with ice cream which I realised when it came to the table. It would have been a great conversation if the wait girl had said something like, 'the pancakes are great with a scoop of ice cream.' Info and a recommendation is always highly appreciated when eating out. The yoghurt that comes on the muesli is cheap junk Greek cooking yoghurt (the kind of bitter one) I'm positive you can get at Coles, and the berries were from the frozen section. The muesli, pancakes and a double espresso came to about $30. With so much competition around you're spoilt for choice in Broadbeach, but you probs don't need to include this in your choices.

The zucchini flowers were ok (but all you could taste was the goats cheese - which was ok since I like goats cheese). The Moreton Bay bugs were completely tasteless. They offered them as two options - garlic and chilli. I tried both. Neither dish had the flavour indicated. The waiter took them back to "add some flavour". But by then the experience had soured. For the price I expected a lot more. This place would die in Melbourne. I will admit that they tried to recover by not charging for one of the bug dishes, nor for the wine. Nice try but.....I came here for the food, not the lower priced bill.

This place was ok!…read more We wanted somewhere to have tapas so we opted for this place. The food was nice enough but nothing that blew me away. We had spring rolls, tempura prawns, chicken wings, smashed potatoes and S&P calamari. Wine list was a bit of yawn also!

To start, we were greeted by a young guy who was super polite and keen to help out and super…read morefriendly. After ordering our first two dishes and first round of dishes he returned to inform that the drink I had ordered had run out. It didn't even bother me at this stage as I was trying something new so I ordered the next drink on the menu and have now discovered my new love of strawberry and lime cider, needless to say, I'm still a happy customer. The waiter then returned and informed me that the coated, crunchy beef dish I ordered had been a popular choice and, once again, had run out and suggested a few other dishes I might like. Again, I was trying new thing tonight which is rare for me but left the fate of my first meal to the waiter. After looking back at what the waiter suggested on the menu I started to worry. What he had suggested was a poached beef on sweet potato mash with pees. I started having doubts that something would be served up that was ordinary that I could easily prepare at home and when it came out my worries weren't soothed, it was exactly how I imagined. 5 thin slices of rare beef on a bed of sweet potato mash with pees. It was quite a long wait for the first dishes also. The moment the fork peirced the small slice and the second I ran the knife blade through the sliver of red, juicy beef I knew I had been corrected with a meal that had ALOT of thought and skill in making. The smoothness of the sweet potato and the salty juices that had surrounded the meal mixed together with the beef in a purely eye closing experience, I just couldn't keep them open and the groaning noises of delight were slightly embarrassing, but with the relaxed atmosphere I was so carefree it didn't matter at all. The Pork Belly that my wife had was super succulent and had so much flavour. The portion was large and came topped with a sweet layer of apple and beetroot to perfectly cut the super salty kick from the pork! That layer of crackle, so salty and crunchy and perfect. I could have left at this stage and given a great reveiw. We decided to keep going for more but our waiter had disappeared from the scene. I tried to make it obvious that we were ready for more by looking at the menu and looking around but staff didn't seam to notice for about 10 mins and continued tidying tables and making the place look good. There were few other customers and it felt we could have been looked after a bit better, in saying so I did need alot of time to decide on what I wanted to try next. I ended up heading to the bar and the barman was happy to help and take my order which was great. The next round of dishes arrived super fast and I was SUPER happy. My ocean and earth bruchetta was absolutely to die for! The flavours all complimented each other with such a zing and pop with the lime slice squeezed over the caviar and running through the layers of smoked salmon and squid, eventually finding its way to the rare beef slices layed over a superbly crunchy base. I wake up craving that experience again. One of the bar staff suggested the salt and pepper calamari which we tried, perfectly cooked which is rare! There was however an abundance of flour in the coating. It wasn't terrible but I wouldnt order it again simply because of the other items on the menu. Overall, 9/10 and an awesome night out with the wife. P.S. My wife was ordering cocktails all evening and at one stage wasn't sure what she wanted. The barman spent time explaining different drinks and ended up choosing one for her that she LOVED. Extra points for great personality and patience.
