Two other people at my table had marathon race coming up shortly and they weren't eating carbohydrates, we shared meat, cheese and vegetables for appetizer and we each had some sort of seafood for lunch. Food was quite tasty, lunch portion size was just right but since we had too much appetizers, I was quite full before my lunch was served. One person ordered pasta for lunch and it looked good. They have nice outside patio seatings available and it was such a lovely day to eat outside. Service was prompt and friendly.

Occasionally he would help the busy waiter but took his sweet time with our table. We were seated right away as there were only a few tables when we arrived. Then took a very long time to take our order. The food came out right away (2 pasta dishes) but then that was it. Nobody checked on us and nobody came to clear the plates or ask if we wanted dessert. We sat with empty plates in front of us for a very long time even after they would look over and make eye contact with us. After a while I flagged the other guy down, ordered a tiramisu and he removed our plates. Again, the dessert came out quickly but when we finished we sat for a very long time waiting with an empty "clear" bowl in front of us and asked twice for the check. Overall I would eat here again, just perhaps go for take-out food instead of dine-in.

I am VERY impressed with Il Carretto. A previous review did mention how the interior decoration resembles a tirolean chalet - which rings true. During the time I was there, traffic was constant for both take out and dine-in. And on top of that, there were constant calls to make reservations. Walking in, I was greeted and seated quickly. But it did take time for a menu to appear, and get my order taken. But once the order was taken, food appeared quickly. I chose from the Recommendation Card as this was my first visit, and picked one of my Greek acid tests the grilled octopus. The Fresh Calamari and Octopus from the grill came through with flying colors. Nicely charred and still juicy and tender. The Calamari came as whole body small squid. My favorite kind. A fresh, lemon sauce enhanced both perfectly. The fried potatoe coins were perfectly crispy on the outside and still creamy inside when they arrived hot. However, by the end of the meal (and I ate pretty quickly) they had cooled down and turned soft. Great find (for me) as it was 2 minutes walk from my hotel. They played Greek pop music, thankfully not loudly, and with the rustic decor, you could have been on a tavern in the Greek Islands. Quite a "date night" place for elderly couples in this little town of Erding. Not a "destination" restaurant, but a solid recommendation!
