BUT. Sofia's Cafe has proved me otherwise. This cute cafe & tea shop that recently relocated from Kronberg is such a delightful find. The interior reminds me of a typical British tea time joint that is utterly beyond adorable and quite dainty. The seating is plentiful and the larger windows offer the perfect amount of natural daylight to illuminate this quaint place. I ordered the blueberry latte (because I like to try new things, I mean c'mon!) and it was delicious! It tasted like a blueberry milkshake. Or an Asian milky blueberry chewy candy. We also ordered the Honey Toast which comes with a giant dollop of fluffy whipped cream & drizzle of honey and the strawberry vanilla cake which was equally delicious and so ever moist. I've been living in Germany for close to 3 months and am a dessert afficionado and honestly have not tasted anything that delicious here until now. Sofia's Cafe knows how to do desserts right. They were so good that I got a slice of oreo cake and carrot cake to go (I'm a fatty- don't judge). Both were divine and also not like the uber sweet American cakes back in the US. It was obvious that I was traveling (I had my bags with me) but most of the staff was very gracious when I asked questions about what to order or how to pronounce things, which was very kind. The atmosphere itself is relaxing, cozy, and comfortable, but at the same time so alive with colors and art and interesting things to explore while you eat. There's seating indoors and a spacious sidewalk patio seating area. I ordered a cappuccino to drink and the Power Frühstrück to eat, which ended up being an amazing spread. It included a light omelet, a basket of fresh bread, jam, fruit, cheese, cream cheese, olives and an orange juice. It was plenty of food for a solid meal and was less than 15 euros. I also enjoyed the little touches (even if I couldn't read them!) on the menu about the business and the note from the owner. It all seemed very thoughtfully done. It is more spacious than one would expect from the outside with about 8 toal tables. Good amount of space and separation between each table. Definitely less crammed than Bruhmarkt in Bockenheim which my normal go-to spot. I ordered the Ethiopian coffee (4,10 euro). It is on the expensive side (similar coffee is 3,90 euro as t Burhmarkt), but quality is very good. Free wifi, comfortable atmosphere and good coffee make this a place to spend more than a few hours relaxing.

You come in, and basically seat yourself if you can find a table that is open. Menus should already be on the table, but ask if you need them. They do have English menus, but thanks to Google Translate, we ordered from the German one. Since I knew how to speak in German, I ordered for my husband an omelette with cheese and tomatoes, and I decided to try their homemade pancakes, which was actually a crepe with their "buffet" jam. The buffet was literally a shelf along the wall with all different kinds of homemade and store brand jams. Each was more spectacular than the next! Excellent choice for something different on the menu. My hubby's omelette was super yummy and flavorful. The service was not rushed in any way, and the vibe here is very relaxed and laid back.
