The gift range includes fairly bog standard teddy bears, helium balloons and cards. These are nice, not badly priced and will probably be suitable for any birthday token gift. Meanwhile, there are some more unusual gifts that cannot be purchased elsewhere locally such as silver photography frames, figurines and - my favourite - brightly painted money pot banks. Superb. Thus, this is a sweet little shop ideal for small gifts at decent prices. However, don't let the name fool you into thinking this is some little boutique like shops.

Paper Plane is one of them, especially if you're looking for a gift (for yourself, or someone else). There's nice crafting kits, as well as lots of things for kids. A nice range of mugs, jewellery, wedding stationery, books, artwork, candles - typical gift shop supplies. There isn't much that falls into the realm of "tat" which is always a good sign. They had on display a Lisa Donati (formerly Psychopants) tea towel - "You will always find me in the kitchen at parties" which always makes me giggle, so obviously they're stocking local artists which is great to see. I'd recommend you spend a day of your weekend heading to check out some of the delights of Skirving Street and make sure that you leave plenty of time for a nosey around here! A lot of it is a wee bit expensive for me I have bought a few unusual presents for people here. They also do a good range of cards and I use it a lot for that. They stock some nice local things - I have a Shawlands mug I bought here and one year they did Xmas cards by a local artist showing people shopping on Skirving Street in the snow. It's one of the shops that helps make Skirving Street such an interesting place to shop.

Not the largest Card Factory I have ever been in (particularly compared to some of the ones in town) but it is easy to navigate around. They have everything required for all your card writing and gift wrapping needs! Just at the entrance, there are baskets which have some gift bags and a selection of children's toys (nothing exciting, just colouring books etc). Inside, there are a few aisles stocked with different cards; separated by age, gender or occasion. Really easy to get around and you can always find a nice card that is really well priced. I was looking for some gift wrap which was found at the back right of the store, just beyond the till. They have a good range of wrapping papers to choose from: girls, boys, birthday, age specific, other occasion and just some that was pretty, but not marked as being for any particular occasion. I do a lot of box swaps so go through a lot of wrapping paper and I'm always looking for a nice paper that doesn't say Happy Birthday etc. I picked out some nice sheets and headed to the till. I have the way wrapping paper sheets are stocked because if you pick out more than one sheet (or change your mind) they are impossible to put back! Drives me crazy and I usually end up just buying whatever I have taken. I know it will get used eventually. The till is swamped with little extras they try and entice you to buy, most of it being child related and not relevant to me. They have some cute little notepads etc though which are handy if you're looking for a little extra to put with a gift. Service was friendly. You are always offered a bag and if buying full rolls of wrapping paper, they have suitable carrier bags (we all know at Christmas how awkward they are to carry!). Paper came in at 35p per sheet which I thought was really good value. They were offering free 'His & Hers' 2016 calendars to everyone. I'm not really not into stuff like that so I declined. Nice to be offered something for free though!

Full of fairly unusual and sweet presents for most occasions - such as special birthdays, weddings and new babies - it can be great to pick up that special gift although occassionally the stock disappoints me. What I love the most is the card selection - perfect when searching for a slightly more unusual card. Also be prepared to pay for its location - as you'd imagine in Princes Square it can be pretty expensive.

In short, this is a great one-stop-shop for any birthday or other occasion, and I think you'd be bound to find something for everyone.

All (well, most) nicely packaged in that inimitable Swedish minimalist style and very competitively priced. Which is the whole marketing plan, I guess. It certainly works as we were passing and just popped in for a quick look and of course ended up spending about 20 quid! Favourite buy - a Hallowe'en cat head with colour changing eyes and an LED multicoloured light bulb with rotating prism lens - instant disco ball in your living room! If you're looking for cheap and unusual toys for children, it's definitely worth checking out Flying Tiger. Even if your children are well over 40. :)

Now I love Tiger and I'm not totally sure why this is called Flying Tiger but it's pretty much the same as every other Tiger I've been to - cheap homewares/stationery kind of stuff which is really cute. This time I didn't actually buy anything (how's that for self restraint) but I'm sure I'll be back as I love their stationery and they had some really nice glassware too.

The shop is bright and appealing, and has heaps of vibrant stock to lure you in. Once I was in, I was a little confused. Where was everything good? The stock seemed to be a lot of stuff aimed at young kid - rubbers, puzzle balls, some crafty stuff, pens/pencils and brightly coloured paperclips. I just couldn't really see anything that useful that I thought "I need this!' To be honest, I found this store disappointing as it seemed to be a big store initially, but then the actual stock was just a lot of the same stuff. I think to be a really good stationery store you need to carry a much bigger range - notepads, cards to start, possibly diaries, wrapping paper as well. To top off the experience, the shop assistant was actually sitting at the til with her head in her hands, and wasn't greeting customers. She looked how I felt after 3 minutes in here. All in all, a pretty depressing experience for what could have been a great shop.
