I didn't spend much time with the rocks and sod, although my friend got a couple big flagstones for her patio and she was super happy with the price, quality, etc. I did spend a ton of time in the greenhouse full of vegetable seedlings and got everything to plant my garden this year. I wasn't planning to, but they had everything I could have hoped for and the prices were right so tadah. The seedlings are super affordable, there are tons of varieties and everything is clearly documented so you can figure out what plants will go well together and how to care for them. There is staff everywhere and they are busy but super helpful and friendly. Even packed on the weekend lines moved super quickly, I was super impressed. When we arrived the crowds made me nervous feeling like we'd be tangled up forever but the staff's efficiency and calm kept everything moving smooth and chill. I loved my experience here, and my lovely plants are all in the garden now and looking so happy, I'll be back next year for my veggies for sure, and maybe sooner if I get my act together for a balcony garden!

Their plants come in these cute jars, glass spheres, cups with faces on them, very modern and chic. Totally instagram worthy. I've never been in a plant store like this one. It's very modern, with a very peaceful and comforting vibe. Succulents and cacti are beautifully arranged around the store--some in glass jars, some in pots--and you will wonder to yourself how you'll fit EVERYTHING they sell into your home. We bought a suspended succulent in a glass sphere, and the staff gave us instructions for taking care of the plant. She included a "how to care" sheet in the bag, and carefully set the sphere in a paper lined box. If you are looking for a beautiful succulent/cactus addition to your home or office, this is where you will find it!

This brought me to Mega Centre Montreal (Pépinière Gentile) and I was impressed with the size of the place and variety of plants, herbs and trees. I showed Graciella, who was busy looking after the garden centre, a list of edible perennial plants & herbs and without hesitation, she knew most of them and helped identifying and choosing these plants below: Mushroom herb (Plante champignon) It is a leafy green plant with a crisp texture like spinach with a distinctive taste of Mushroom- can be eaten raw in a salad, sandwich or in a pasta sauce. Lemon Balm (mélisse) Is a member of the mint family that grows bushy and can become invasive. The leaves have a pleasant lemon smell used in herbal tea. Spear mint (menthe verte) This is my favourite of all the mints, as it has a delicate sweet taste used in cooking. It helps alleviate symptoms of nausea and indigestion. Lovage (Livèche) tastes like celery with undertones of parsley and a hint of anise. The name is derived from "Love ache", and adds delicious ways to be used in the kitchen. Ginger mint (menthe gingembre) has a spicy scent with a hint of ginger and has many culinary uses. It is primarily sweet with the familiar cooling effect of mint. Nasturtium (Capucine) is an easy to grow flower, adds bright colours to your dish as beautiful decoration and fully edible. The leaves have watercrest-like flavours. Will come back again.

They have a wonderful selection of flowers and plants. I was pleasantly surprised when I found out they had a bunch of burrow tails that I had been looking for for some time. The plant is blooming and growing nicely. They give you tricks and information on how to best care for your plant. I've also had them order plants for me as well and they usually come in within that week if not the next. A huge bonus is the store is they happily serve you in either French or English regardless of their mother tongue. It's very refreshing.

Can't believe it's open all day every day; wish we had anything close to this in our neighborhood. Street parking was easy to find on a weekday morning, and the market was pretty quiet when we arrived just before 10 AM. We split a rocket, goat cheese, walnut panini on ciabatta, which was delicious. I also tried a few cheeses at the extensive cheese shop, and the staff were friendly and helpful. I could have spent hours at the marketing roaming, admiring all the vibrant, fresh produce, and watching local artists sketch and paint the floral section -- which is stunning. It was a great place to buy souvenirs and trip gifts from local vendors. If only we had time to come back to Marche Jean Talon multiple days on our trip. Highly recommend!

It ended up being a less than one hour jaunt to this part of town. Perhaps it's my fault for setting this expectation, but I was definitely expecting a much larger selection of stores. While the selection of stores and places was decent, I really can't say it was mind blowing. I would say we spent the majority of our time talking to the people selling maple syrup and maple syrup related products. The people running that stand/booth were super friendly and more than happy to educate us on the different types of syrup and such. Outside of that, I can't say anything really stood out as super unique or eye catching. OVERALL - not must see tv folks. Perhaps it's bigger/better in the summer months and or weekends? Perhaps it is, but I won't be coming back to find out. CELEBRITY RATING - Avril Lavigne
