MUST DO! This was the highlight of my trip in 2013! We took a ferry cruise from Stockholm to Birka Viking Island. It took approx. 3 hours. We had a brief walking tour with a guide then about two hours to explore the island before having to head back to the boat. Another 3 hours on the return. What you can expect to see: Active archeological site along the far shore of the island. Living history village (which wasn't active on the day we were there) Museum and Gift shop Scandinavian restaurant Lots of land Remember the movie "How to Train your Dragon"?...
