Birdworld makes for an excellent family day out for those interested in birds. Set in 20 acres, the site has a shop and cafe, and landscaped grounds with separate bird enclosures lining the walkways. It is located a couple of miles south-west of Farnham on the A325.
Established in 1968, the site has steadily grown over the years, and now includes several walk-through enclosures, one of which is laid out like a beach for penguins ands seashore birds, a penguin pool, and outdoor areas for the emus, pelicans and rheas.
The emphasis is on education, with good, informative signs about each of the bird species, their habitats, and their conservation status. There are plenty of places to stop and sit on the way, several of which are roofed to provide shelter on rainy days.
The shop sells items aimed at children, including books, cuddle toys and models. In summer there's an additional cafe open, selling snacks, light meals and ice creams. Most of the site provides level access, though some of the paths are gravel. There's a large car park at the entrance. read more
