It rises at Bedford, NY in Westchester, NY. Altogether, the park in both is a bit more than 220 acres total The trail is accessible from parking lots in Greenwich and Stamford that allow access to the park, but check to see if PARKING PERMITS ARE REQUIRED. Dogs should be kept on lead and under control, not just because it's the right thing, but also because there is wildlife in the park, Eagles nest in the areas and Black Bears are known to nest there. There is a Mianus Web site as also from Stamford and Greenwich. IN the 90s, a fishway was built to allow migratory fish to enter the river as they had previously. It's just a beautiful place that I once shared with a neighbor occasionally as we walked our dogs in the park, a rare time witha great person in early sages of cancer until she had to give it up.

Though you need resident parking during swim season, it's a great winter escape for all between Labor Day and Memorial Day. People decorate memorial benches for the winter holidays, and jingle bell horse rides go on during the December holiday season. It's a park near and dear. At some point we'll make it to the museum, but the historic interpretative signs helped us make do. Kids can sled the hills by the entrance, and everyone can find beach glass along the cove itself. Whether you're looking for nature or exercise, this is a great local escape.

And then, you get to the end of the parking lot, and lo and behold, there really *is* a park with hiking trails here. Selleck's Woods is a really nice little park in Darien. There are a lot of trails here to hike, packed into a pretty small space. There's a nice lake to sit and enjoy, and some small and large paths to explore. There's even some cool sections for kids to introduce them to hiking and the woods. Altogether a really enjoyable place, that I plan on visiting again soon!

These locations are on the state line of New York and Connecticut. My Dad would take me fishing at Greenwich Point. We had huge family picnics in the area with grills and benches. I remember hanging hammocks in the trees. As kids we ran and played building up our appetite. I've got many historic photos from over the years. Summertime at Greenwich Point is the best! Why three stars ? I've been to many beaches and this one is just average. Compared to places like Fire Island & Robert Moses State Park there's no competition. Beautiful big rolling waves, infinite views, the wildlife, flowers and clean ocean breeze off the Atlantic Ocean versus the rocky rough sand and wimpy wavelets of the Long Island Sound. It's a nice place for picnics but the last time I was there they kicked people out right before sunset so I couldn't even enjoy the view.

There are no maps and very little information about this place. It's very large, existing behind a large number of houses in North Stamford. There are a couple of parking areas, the most easy to spot being on Dundee Road. There are trails, but there's barely blazed. It's full of some really nice old trees, mosses, and ferns, and I imagine in the spring it is probably a riot of wildflowers. This is a park that could be useful to the public if there were only some information available to the public on its existence. I suppose that the people that live in the area like it that way, though.

There's also a formal gardens on the site, the Goodbody Garden, which is maintained by the Stamford Garden Club. It's a pretty quiet site, mainly consisting of an open field with the ruins of the fort, a little path through the forest at the back end of the site, (where there's a Bicentennial Tree) and the garden area. There's not a lot here, but the meadow/lawn area is nice for a little stroll, and there are some interesting things to look at in the gardens.

There was plenty of parking throughout the park, including some improvised parking near the tennis courts. We headed for the nature trails which were well-maintained. There were SO MANY BUGS in the trails so come prepared! After spending a bit of time in the trails, we hit the playgrounds. There is one gated area for smaller kids and a bigger playground for big kids. They also have public restrooms near the little grill they have by the baseball fields. The bathroom was clean.

Parking is a bit lean so if it is really busy be ready to park on the road itself, which everyone seems to do. This is a beautiful, quiet place. The yellow trail is a nice easy hike from the West Gate to the East Gate. The Blue trail however is a challenge. It is narrow, steep and not well marked in places.
