I would not like to comment about the care of the residents being offered here,as staffs are doing their best to care in such a bad working environment. most of the time, the care home is short staffed or not adequately staffed to care for high dependency patients, and puts excessive pressure on the care assistants and nurses and the staffs are over stretched, which might as well compromise the quality and safe care of the patients. A work environment which makes people feel really small and never acknowledged for the work they do. A very unsafe nurse- patient ratio on the night shifts, such as 1 registered nurse for the whole of 40 or 50 residents, where the nurse cant even rely on the other qualified staff in case of an emergency. And the management fails to look into these issues and still believes it offers safe and quality care. furthermore, a very autocratic and rude leadership styles is being practiced, which is highly unacceptable in the current scenario where democracy and human rights is expected to be observed. The home is so cramped including the hallways and the room spaces and is not hoist friendly or wheel chair friendly and do not have the adequate space for a safe moving and handling.
on the overall, surely not a best place to work for, and always be prepared to receive calls on your offs to cover up for staff shortages and be prepared to work for at least 10 to 6 long day shifts in a row, if birch grove is your cup of tea. read more
