This was a fun time to visit the zoo on the spur of the moment! It was our last day in Rome and we didnt know what to do, so we visited the Zoo! Everything was very well kept and the animals seemed to be happy. they have quite a lot of animals and the zoo is expansive. It wasnt too expensive and we enjoyed our time walking around and taking pictures of the animals. It was a super fun experience. Allow yourself at least 2-3 hours to see everything and even a bit longer if you are seeing some shows or encounters. read more

When we were in Rome, we wanted to go to the zoo. Everything in Rome is easy to walk to and that includes the Zoo. You walk through a pretty park to get to the entrance. The park has pretty flowers and greenery. This zoo was one of the smaller zoos I have visited. Speaking to some of the locals, the zoo isn't a must-go to place. We decided to check it out anyway since we go to zoos in almost any place we travel. We thought the exhibits were about the same size as other zoos we have seen. It was as clean as you can expect from a zoo. The zoo is small, but they have all the standard animals. It isn't too expensive and you can spend a decent amount of time at the zoo and walking through the park. If you only have a few days in Rome, I would skip it. However, if you are here for an extended period of time, it wouldn't be a bad place to check out. read more

What was the first thing I did yesterday when I landed in Rome? Went to the zoo! And it's a decision I definitely do not regret making. Walking into this zoo feels like a big deal when you walk through the giant gates and it looks even nicer inside. I've been to a ton of zoos (mostly in the United States and Canada) and this zoo instantly became one of my absolute favourites. The enclosures here are both large and extremely filled out. For instance the lions have a den, a body of water, brush, and even a little forest for them to roam around. The macaques playscape was one of the coolest things I've seen at a zoo. There had to of been at least 20-25 of them hanging out on the playscape, Inside the den, splashing around the water, or just chilling along the rocks. This zoo also features plenty of other animals like giraffes, elephants, grizzly bears, wolves, flamingos, owls, hippos, and the list goes on and on. I would absolutely recommend this zoo to anyone who steps food into the beautiful city of Rome. You will find countless hours of fun looking at all the different kinds of animals and even find plenty of places to eat and shop along the way. read more

Absolutely an amazing experience. I'm a big fan of zoos so whenever I have the opportunity to see a new one I jump on it. That being said I've seen a lot of zoos, and this by far is one of my favorites. The enclosures for the animals are incredible. There is so much enrichment for every single creature here. My favorite exhibit is definitely the Macaques. They have a huge area with so many things for them to do. I loved it. The zoo itself is beautiful and the layout was very enjoyable to walk. Great zoo. Checked another country off on my list of zoos visited. The layout was great and all the animals were out and about. The wearer was cool but not cold with the occasional brief drizzle of rain. The Lion was in heat and it was a treat lol. He also had a go at a few people by charging the glass. Fun time!! P.S. I've been in Italy for almost a week and the first stray cat I've seen was a friendly beautiful ginger at the zoo. read more

I was completely disgusted by this place! I love taking my daughter to zoos. In adult trips if she is well behaved we always find the local zoo and almost always have a blast. Zoos in general are staffed by animal lovers. This shows in the animals they care for. The animals well being come first . Not in this Zoo All the animals look sick physically and mentally. I know I am not a expert or vet but I've see enough Zoos to know when something is not right. It pushed me to the limit when I went to see my daughter's favorite part, the chimpanzee. I wanted to cry. It was like looking at abused children. They were all crowded in a corner in a concrete pit trying to get the little shade that was available in the 95 degree day. All had major hair loss, some had almost complete hair loss. I could see that they all were sunburnt. Most had open sores through their torsos. Thankfully the concrete wall surrounding the enclosure was too high for my daughter to see over. I am not really a animal guy. I don't spend time around them, don't even have a pet, not even a fish. I enjoy watching my daughter having fun in zoos and I do enjoy seeing animals playful and happy. This zoo is enough to make any person an animal activist. Like I said 99% of Zoos are amazing and the animals are loved. Not here. read more

As soon as you enter you are greeted with two beautiful structures. First building you enter shows the horrors of poaching and illegal trades. I love how natural the feel is and the exhibits themselves are spectacular. Abundance of locations for photos, extremely child friendly with the multitudes of play areas. Plenty of viewing decks to see the more shy animals. read more

I honestly don't understand how this park has such good reviews. I'm usually not one to leave a review at all, much less a negative one, but this park was beyond disappointing. Besides the fact that the zoo itself was filthy, the animals looked so malnourished and just overall unhealthy. Their holding cells were pathetic, very dirty and not well kept at all. It was hard to see. Most animals were laying down on the ground in a far corner. MANY exhibits didn't have any animals in them at all! My family and I got about half way through the park and decided the rest wasn't worth the €16. read more

If you are going in the summer months, I went in late September, make sure you apply a liberal amount of insect repellant as there are a HUGE amount of flies and mosquitos around the park. I forgot to put on my insect repellant and got bitten my many bugs, more than any other zoo I've been too. The only real escape from the bugs is in the reptile room, which was really the highlight of the zoo. The one great advantage of this zoo from others that I noticed is that there are more restrooms around the park than others. As with most zoos the best time is to go in the late morning or early afternoon as that's when most of the animals will be out and about. Although, they do have a small exhibit of seals during the late afternoon that is fun to watch. However, the overall quality and attractions of the zoo is more fitting of a zoo from a small city rather than a large metropolis of a couple million people. I would take advantage of the surrounding park grounds and Borghese Gallery and Museum. So, the things to remember is wear insect repellent, preferably with deet, and explore the entire grounds of the park outside of the zoo. read more

This is the best zoo that I have ever been too. It's not huge in size but it has a lot of animals, and it's an easy walk from one exhibit to another. The landscape was beautiful and mixed up with fun playgrounds. We spent nearly 5 hours there because we just did not want to leave. read more
