I've donated plasma through BioLife for a fourth time as of yesterday and have only positive things to say about the BioLife facility (in Mt. Juliet, Tennessee) and its competent staff, who effectively transform the innately awkward and disjointed protocol involved when donating plasma into a systematized and streamlined process normally taking ~2 hrs or less to complete. Because they're indeed deserving of the praise, I'll brag on the crew a moment longer... in my experience, each and every employee has exuded a kind and polite attitude, with those I spent a longer time with (first-time appointments require a physical) exuding qualities that help manifest calm during a new or unfamiliar experience--patience, empathy, humor, compassion, understanding, etc. read more

Just finished my last new donor donation (8th). On my first visit, everything was explained very clearly to me, and the person that did my exam was friendly & thorough. Every visit since, the staff has been friendly. Every phlebotomist I've had appear to follow all the correct safety & sanitizing procedures. The beds are comfortable. They always have good music playing and decorate the plate a little based on the surrounding holiday. It's easy to relax & watch a movie, read a book, etc. to pass the time. It can get busy depending on the time of day & number of staff available. I've learned which days to avoid. Tuesday seems to be the busiest since it's their "Monday". The best time that I've found is first thing on the weekend when they open. Otherwise, you might have to wait 30-60 mins to get a bed, and then however long it takes you to complete the donation. Luckily for me, I have good veins & hydrate well, so I haven't had any complications. I don't have any other sites/companies to compare this location to, but I definitely like this facility and the staff! read more

Kenzie is great! She is personable and fun to chat with! I have now donated close to 10 times. Enrique made my first visit very comfortable and did a good job acknowledging this was my first time, even though he goes through the same thing every day. Overall, the staff seems really kind. on 11/15 my partner was in the exam room and an older, bald white employee said my partner raised his voice after asking for pictures of his tattoos which he didn't have. The employee then told my partner he smelled like weed which is very unacceptable and unprofessional. Not one time did my partner raise his voice . He remained calm and professional the whole time. This employee then told my partner he was going to get him deferred for absolutely no reason . This employee needs to be held accountable and reprimanded. read more

I've donated plasma here a number of times with no issues. Until last night, the nurse technician pushed the needle in my arm way too far. After the first cycle, my machine started beeping for the techs to come over. It was the end of the night and was not busy, yet the techs were talking with each other and no one came over to me to assist with the machine. A short while after I felt the needle shift and a hematoma started growing on my arm. I yelled out and still no one was paying attention. Without any prior training on what the mass was or what to do when something goes wrong, combined with the lack of help from the staff, I ended up pulling the line out of my arm in a panic. Finally the staff came over. They kept telling me how I made it so much worse, and that I should have stayed calm (duh!). They then proceeded to dock my payment from $70 down to $20 while telling me to my face that I would receive the full payment. I called back today and they said there's nothing they can do. I have been donating blood regularly since 1987 and started donating plasma this year, I thought switching to a facility closer to where I live would be fairly simple especially since all their apps and websites state that the different centers communicate with each other. I scheduled an appointment. I read all their pre-donation rules, regulations, guidelines and suggestions. Went through what I thought was the entire process (again) and donated plasma (again). However, I got a phone call stating I could not donate again, without jumping through yet another challenging hoop. Really? My email page is stacked full of their emails-at least 3/day and yet not one mention of this "required" process that needs to be completed before my next donation. Apparently with ALL their promises of a simple, clear process, the process is not clearly delineated. Although the staff was very professional and friendly, they clearly are not knowledgeable about their own process of required steps. Not sure if I will continue to donate here or switch- yet again - to the facility even closer to where I live. read more

I appreciate having a plasma center in my community that provides to people that need it and also gives me some extra spending cash. After first month, payments drop but still worth it with other promotions that come up. Usually takes me 2 hours from entry to exit. I download a movie or a show and relax. I have been coming to this location since November of 2020, and in the first few months it was nice because I was never there for more than 2 hrs. However, in the last couple months it has been horrible! You have to wait over an hour just to get your vitals taken, and then wait another hour to finally get seated. It's rediculous! I understand it's getting busier and staffing is difficult, but in that case the center should cater to the donors and RESPECT their time by following a much more structured appointment system. What is the point of me making an appointment if more often than not I'm having to wait HOURS before I can even donate. Avoid this place like the plague!!! I cannot emphasize enough just how bad the staff are here. So unprofessional, rude, argumentative with patients. I've heard phlebotomists talking about how much they hate their job, AS THEY ARE STICKING SOMEONE! Absolutely disgusting behavior. Not to mention, many of them seem poorly trained. The amount of pain I've dealt with here because of them mis-sticking me happened almost every time I went. And lastly, I'd say if your desperate for money, I would put up with the issues becuase you'd get around $1000 a month, however, nowadays your lucky if they offer even $500. It's terrible. Very UNPROFESSIONAL rude staff. Got turned away twice in 2 days first bc iron was .1 percent off. They were pretty cold about it. Ok fine take a IRON supplement come back the next day now I'm told my pulse is high? I also didn't want the same new girl taking my vitals again because she was in training bc I was probably going to get told some bs again by her I just didn't feel confident with her or comfortable. I wanted someone who was experienced. Turns out her 'shadow trainer' was the one who ruled out my pulse was high today. Wtf? It's like they didn't want me to be able to donate so I could not get the lil money that was offered to me thru the app. Extremely petty. Very snarky and the manager automatically took their side by proxy. She didn't even try to provide any good customer a service to rectify the situation. I'm extremely disappointed in the customer service here. I hope the district manager or corporate sees this. read more

Have had two techs as of today not know how to properly conduct a capillary finger stick. Been deferred twice due to this incompetence now. When you milk a finger as hard as you can due to an improper stick, your hematocrit will go up. Anyone with any medical experience can tell you this. When you ask to have it redone correctly, they will refuse, and you're out of luck due to their screw up. They have done this to me twice now. If you want to speak with management, good luck. I waited 20+ minutes on a manager to discuss the incompetence. He didn't seem to care at all, as he never came to the front to speak with me. Staff claimed it was due to him being busy sticking patients on the floor. Dude-you're management. Let your employees handle it for 5-10 minutes so you can DO MANAGEMENT. I've worked for Grifols Biomat in the past, and hoped this place would be less of a joke than they were. Sadly, they are not. Don't waste your time here. You won't be listened to as a patient (or donor), and the incompetence of some of the staff will leave you astounded. I'd honestly give less than 1 star if I could. read more

This place is super clean and has a great staff!!! Up front upon entry I had the pleasure of meeting Terilynn with my very first donation at this facility. Very friendly and helped with any question I had. All staff members I have grown to know over time from donating, truly enjoy what they do, and they strive to get you in and out to the best of their ability!! The place is clean and the staff are nice, but that's about where the stars end. You NEED to staff this place better! It should not be a 90 minute wait just to get vitals checked before donating! I wouldn't be this annoyed if there was more than only one person checking vitals on a Sunday. Figure out your appointments or hire more staff because this is ridiculous. read more

When I called and explained to the lady I was supposed to receive an additional $40 on my 7th donation she got an attitude and said it wasn't her problem and said what do you want me to do about it that it wasn't her problem!!!! Asked to speak to management and she was just as RUDE would not give me the name of the lady I spoke too. No wonder everyone complains!!! I've been coming here for almost 2 years. Seems the waiting times are getting longer and longer. They're vastly understaffed. It's hard to be mad at anyone currently working there but something has to change. Typically I'd be there 60-90 mins, now I almost have to make sure I have at least 2.5-3 hours available to donate. Originally went and they had an issue assigning me a card. Had to wait over the weekend until Tuesday to get a new card. Went back again and got the new card that still doesn't work. Have to go back again just to have another card assigned to me that probably won't work. So this will be my third attempt in a week. If you're donating because you need a little extra cash quickly pick somewhere else there's no guarantee you'll get your money when you're supposed to their payment system is terrible and unreliable. So today my technician, Melissa, rushed through my insertion process then when I was almost done with my donation she tells me she needs me to keep my eyes open. No technician has ever asked me to my eyes open in the two years I've been donating here. I am a high functioning Autistic person. My disability is social and all those strangers around me makes me nervous. So I listen to music on my headphones and keep my eyes closed unless interacting with a member of staff. I thought reasonable accommodations were required to be available for disabled persons but I guess I was wrong. The only reason I could think of that one would not be allowed to close ones eyes is because one would appear sleeping, and that is reasonable. It is very dangerous to donate while sleeping as it risks air bubbles which cause embolisms. What's not reasonable is thinking someone lip syncing, pumping their fist for the plasmapheresis machine, and kicking their feet could possibly be considered asleep regardless of whether or not their eyes were closed? I don't want to come back, but it's my only source of income during this pandemic as I was not in essential employee when the order to shelter in place went across the country read more

Very seldom do I ever post a review but this is one that I feel that needs to be made on the 19th of October Friday afternoon I went into the the facility in Mount Juliet to make my donation everything was fine great conversation with the Tech after going through the question there being approved then I had to go through or they drew blood tested it in my blood protein was point 1 below their acceptable level I understand these levels are set up for the protection of the client but to change your schedule and stop in the middle of the day of work and not be able to do the donation can be frustrating to say the least The Tech said that I could come back in on Saturday or Sunday to make the donation as I explained to her that that met that I would have to continue to come back even on the weekends due to their calendar schedules and how that would be so inconvenient but because I was making my 2nd donation of the week I obviously was not going to not give then they gate she gave the Paton answer this is for your safety Maurice spots in a calm manner With carefully chosen words just said I really don't give a flying flip about my safety it didn't change the inconvenience Rather than raising my voice or saying something that I felt was in appropriate I got up and left went to my car went to the app and after multiple tries was able to schedule I don't pointment for Saturday morning approximately an hour later I get a phone call from the center asking me to call back I spoke to Mike and on behalf of the center manager Mary was informed that I would no longer be allowed to make donations because my statement was threatening I asked how is that threatening when it's not directed to any one week went into a the discussion and I told him that I felt that I was being unjustly treated unfairly targeted he said I'm just calling on behalf of Mary I can leave I can transfer you to her and you can take this up with her I said please do I'm put on hold he comes back and informs me she is unavailable he would make a note put it on her desk and have her call me approximately 30 maybe 40 minutes later I get a phone call from someone else not marry and am told that this is mary's boss and that because of the words that I chose to speak I would no longer be allowed to come back and make further future donations I asked then what did I say that was roll and no 1 would a dress or repeat whatever it was when I said all I said was I don't give a flying flip about my safety I was told that was inappropriate I then made the statement that I felt like a bull's eye had been put on me and they were waiting For a to say something so that they could disqualify me for future donations I had had one other Conversation because I did get upset and frustrated on a previous appointment of not being able to make a donation due to another medical reason we agreed that I was to be stake call on future this that's why I chose my words very carefully and chose my tone and chose not to raise my voice I didn't stead of Mary talking with me she did I did get the opportunity to talk to her she said the decision had been made I wasn't going to like the words as she said and proceeded to say there's nothing else this discussion is over and hung up If IA life is going to support this type of management And this way of talking to clients think wants need to know be careful of what you say it not only could be but probably will be held against you the week before this a gentleman came in I don't know the whole situation but he was very loud very direct walked through the center made it very clear that he was upset and told people to not talk to him he wanted to talk to the person in charge so allowing someone to be able to do that the The Center manager hand chose who can and who can't come back. No matter what took place there is no justification and no reason acceptable for management to hang up on someone who is trying to understand what they did wrong. read more
