Over half my visits are very slow moving. Staffing seems to always be an issue here. If they adjusted their appointment times to coincide with staffing it would help a great deal. Today I had a 7:40 appointment and was still 10th in line in the waiting area when I decided to leave at 9 am. Several others had to leave as well. I have always had good interactions with the staff here but it does get to be a bit much planning over 2+ hours to donate. Luckily the compensation isn't much and doesn't affect me so if I stop donating altogether, it's really no big deal. If you donate here, always be prepared to wait and don't schedule anything else within 3 hours of your appointment. read more

Seriously BioLife needs to fix these issues. There IS NOT enough staff ever. There is a few new techs that literally walk like a snail, talks to much and should be home on her couch. Hire better types of qualified techs. They have a job and so do I. Waiting over forty five min to even get in a chair is ridiculous. I am NOT doing it for the money either. Almost every employee here has no respect for the clients here that have a schedule. If they moved faster, stopped talking maybe it would move faster. I came to my appointment I took vacation from work and they said that the state is being down for hour and didn't even call you to let you know about this issue, as much as they say the need your blood that it would help people, I hope this place get their live together this is my second time coming here with a appointment and no luck I may try a different place next time hopefully they don't disappoint. read more

Although they take appts, they drastically overbook and what should be an hour process far exceeds that amount of time. They used to have 4 areas to take donors, but it has been reduced to 2 and they are only using 1 causing a huge back log of donors. This is not a good place to donate. There are too many uneducated employees. On top of all that they discriminate against certain donors for no reason. If you have old scar tissue or any scars for that matter that assume you have done drugs. Lastly when they are short staff, which is almost always.They are extremely cold and rude. during my initial screening I was asked to get a Dr note to state it was ok to donate because if my under active thyroid. My Dr. filled the form and also listed my low iron and Gerd. He wrote Gerd like a Dr would and Biolife thought it said COPD. They put me immediately on the no donor list even though they could not make out what was written. I finally got it resolved with the Dr refaxing what he really wrote and me going in numerous times because no one answers the phone or call back. The nurse said the Dr at the facility got the fax and approved the fax. i went in to donate I did the whole screening which was like an hour and half. When the nurse took me back she said I can't donate. she said "your Dr note is not valid because he crossed off his initial diagnosis of COPD and was like oops just kidding its Gerd." the Dr never diagnosed me with COPD. I don't understand how I could get an appt. Booked and go through the screening before finding out I still can't donate!!!! The nurse I dealt with was rude even to insinuate my DR changed his mind. The other staff especially the two women up front were very kind and friendly. This woman just seems like she is very unhappy in life. she asked if I wanted to get another paper for my Dr. I said not a chance! I am done. read more

Just completed my first donation. The first visit takes about 3 hours. Understandably, they have to give you a brief physical and go through your medical history. The facility is clean and bright. The staff is very friendly. They have plenty of staff on hand too. Discomfort/ pain was exactly the same as a regular blood donation. Minimal. The machines are interesting and you can actually watch your blood go through the tubes and the plasma as it's separated. If you are squeamish, just don't look. I was fascinated. Take a book, earbuds or whatever you want to while away the hour while you are reclining and donating. I will be taking a blanket next time. It's cool-ish in there and the process makes you a bit chilly as well. Also if you book your appointment earlier in the day, you will be in and out more quickly. At 4:30, the place was getting packed. No thanks. My only negative comment is that they could speed up the process a bit. There was a good bit of hanging around time that could have been easily eliminated. I want in and out as fast as possible please. read more

The service and level of care seems totally random, and kf the 7 times jbe gone 3 times resulted in bad sticks. Only blood or plasma center I've seen mess up so often on the same veins. read more

Your first visit does take a few hours, and that is told to you up front. All in all the staff does its best to keep up with a constant stream of people. Very monotonous for them. Some have better attitudes than others, but they have a regimen that has to be followed for everyone's safety. I recommend bringing a blanket if you get chilly, drink plenty of water, and bring a snack and water to get through the wait time. read more

I have given many places over the years and never had the experience I have here. Some of the individuals are great at placing the needle and IV; but, twice they have dug into my arms until I leave looking like an addict and today it was so bad they removed blood they could not put back because only one arm was usable from the last time they dug in both arms. After having the needle adjusted 5 times I refused and further adjustment in that arm so now I can't give again until August 8th. If you can't hit a vein in 5 adjustments you probably should not be sticking people. This will be my last donations at this location. read more

Third visit was supposed to be today. I followed all of the instructions posted online and brought a valid DL, my SS card & a recent bill. First visit, checked in with front desk staff, got through an hour wait in a side room and got to the point of them setting me up for my physical - they found a quick easy vein in my left arm, but had two techs check my right arm and found a suitable vein but was told it was small, so I should hydrate over the next two days and return. Interesting, since I drank the requested amount of water and ate a breakfast prior to visiting. They had a wait line wrapping around the building, so that may have been part of the issue. Second visit, checked in with the front desk again, and waited 3 hours before being vein checked again - found both arms suitable at the check in desk area. Did all of my paperwork, and did my questionnaire on the machine up front before waiting an additional 1.5hrs for a physical. Upon getting into the room with a physical nurse, she notified me that I would not be donating on this visit. I was shocked, since my apt. Was around noon and no one had told us that they were turning people away at that point. She got through the physical, was extremely nice and got me a CS related credit since I wasn't warned about the timing. The last step was taking a blood sample and testing. The tech doing the blood draw blew up the vein on my left arm, causing some pretty interesting bruising, and could not get the vein in my right arm. I am pretty vascular, and have never had anyone have difficulty finding a vein, so this was a new experience for me. Third visit (today), I had a 10:35am appt. Walked in, saw a line around the building again, and what looks like a woefully understaffed situation. Left and will not return. I gave it a shot, and I can think of quite a few better ways to spend my day off than waiting in a freezing cold converted office building. What is the point of having an appointment schedule if you can't keep up with it? I wish I could get my 7 hours spent in this building back, and I am now seeing pages of people complaining about similar issues. I would not recommend biolife plasma to anyone. My first experience was not good..waited fir 4 hours which I knrw would be long but even after 1st visit..I still had to wait hours. So I finally went to try to give again today which there was only a few people there when I got there but it was 2 hours later n im sitting on the table an half hour waiting to be stuck..with needle..but they kept taking people who were behind me in line..so I asked why..The supv gave me some stupid answer..which was all bullshit. I am now in line at csl which has a line but they move there people fast n most days im done here in less than an hour. I will never donate at biolife. I understand they have to pay more money cause they are slow n they dont care about what is fair or not. read more

Today I had an exceptional experience @ Biolife (2168 E. Bay Dr, Largo). Brandon, who from what I can tell is the lead supervisor, seems to be a very nice guy and does a good job running the show. So shout out to Brandon! But today I had a problem with one of my arms - the veins were not cooperating - and Kaylee was the one setting me up. She was a bit concerned so she called on Art to help her out with getting me situated. In any event, Art was able to work it out and I was very grateful to both of them. They are very kind and professional, but, they WAY overschedule!! I don't know how many people they schedule at the same time, but sometimes, you can be there for 1.5 hours before you ever get a needle in your arm! You have to allow 3 hours to be there! That's ridiculous!! Also, while their new donor payment is good, the amount drops so significantly, that it is hardly worth it after your new donor package runs out. If you don't have a promotion code going on, you only get $20 for the first donation in a week, and $90 for the second. read more

This past Tuesday when I was there to donate another donor became sick. I witnessed teamwork in addition to their training. The staff came to assist the phlebotomist within seconds the rest of the team redirected other donors. My time in the facility was under 1 1/2 hours even with problems going on. BioLife plasma has the best plasmapheris machines but not enough people to staff the beds resulting in long waits. If there's a need to draw a test sample, you aren't allowed to donate until the results are back, which can take 10 days plus. There's no return of phone calls to find out about test results, and no followup for test draws that haven't come in a timely manner. Effectively, reducing the time frame to complete the new donor donations in the promotional time period. Very disappointed read more

beware! if you want to donate plasma and are 66 or older you must first have a form filled out by your doctor! i drove 30 minutes to largo location on march8th.i went through the whole process and at each step from the on line sign everyone knew my birth date. i got to the last step before donating and my nurse pamala handed me the form and said"take this and have your doctor fill out and come back" so it would have been very nice if i did not spend 4 hours before i was told this!!! very sincerely richard d. read more

This is the SLOWEST plasma location. They only ever have two people working past 4 and everyone comes in at once and then there's no joke 30 people waiting for a bed to get stuck. My husband is there as I'm writing this and has been sitting in a bed for 45 minutes and has yet to even be poked. Every time we go it gets slower and slower. The absolute worst ran one I've seen. The people are ok if you consider complete indifference a plus. I've been multiple times and only one lady has ever made conversation with me. Worst place for people with limitations. I have a bad back and can't stand for long periods of time. 1st problem I was standing in line to have vitals done leaning on the counter to release back. When I was next in line I walk towards the counter and I said could I please sit down and wait for you to be done cleaning and he said no get back in line. So I did and didn't complain. The next time I went in I got done with medical and they had a long line for the donate chair. I stood a few minutes until my back started hurting and then I sat in a chair. I let the guy know was in line and he was ok with it. A worker came up to me and said I had to stand in line or leave. I spoke to the supervisor on duty (Sammy) and she also told me if I could not tolerate standing then I could leave. They couldn't even offer me a chair to sit in while I was in line. There are 5 other plasma locations that will and have treated me better. No money is worth disrespect! read more

At first its an open huge space its alot cleaner than most plasma center ive to. Im a 1st timer easy peasy!!! ill be in/out 2 hr max as stated on their site. I already knew it was going to take me 5 hours. They been having me repeat my personal info cause their systems is all messed up even tho the lady at front desk already seen me every minute & keeps repeating the same questions for the past 5 mins even tho all my info is on my license..she gets all frustrated so quickly!!! leave whatever problems you got at home leave it at home dont bring it to work with ya!!! They tell me next time i cant donation and worry bout my address the next time. Im not understanding y i cant do the 2nd donation with my address on it. Thats not my problem that the systems fails to be Updated. They should vouch for me the fact i live in tampa and my job is literally right around the corner, the only time i do is when im off my 12 hr shift. Talk about not getting the bonus by the end of the month. Speaking, of the bonus they offer u have to time it right to get your bonuses that month literally.
