The restaurant even had a sign outside stating it was open for dinner until 10:00 PM. We arrived at 7:50 PM. The restaurant was essentially empty. We were "greeted" by the host who asked how many. When he saw our group (which included a disabled child) he shook his head and said "no, we are closing soon". I responded with "your sign says you are open until 10:00 PM". He responded "no we can't" referring to us eating there!!! I have never received such terrible service (or lack thereof) in my entire life! All because we have a disabled child with us?! Shame on you!

But I wanted to talk about the restaurant and dining room because I don't feel like they deserve enough praise for the amount of work and attention to detail these guys put it to this place. When I say these guys work hard to really deliver exceptional service, I mean it. The dining experience is the icing on the cake after a long day of taking in the beautiful scenery just steps outside. This place just closes the deal on the overall breathtaking memory of Hallstatt. It's ambience inside is mostly "fancy" but there is no expectation to look done up, they understand most of us are traveling through, and this doesn't stop them from treating everyone like royalty. I regret not taking more pictures of the food but i got the daily breakfast buffet (two days) and sat there & ate my heart out for a good hour. I stopped in for dessert and got the crème brûlée with a glass of wine after touring and what a delight it was. I could've licked the pan! There were two guys next to me who did order dinner and they could agree the food was exceptional. I've ate at all the major restaurants in Hallstatt and I can attest, they are one of best ones. Definitely need to come here. ***NOTE THEY DO ACCEPT VISA & MASTERCARD***

This place opened a week before the writing of this review, and I hope it is successful! You can tell every piece of furniture is carefully chosen to give the feeling of a second home, and each dish is lovingly created. For example, our earthy and addictive soy milk cappuccinos came out with different milk leaves, and the menus are cutely printed on large playing cards. As for the dishes: - Tofu scramble - this is delicious and satisfying as a meal. The spices and flavoring are perfect and I am determined to replicate this when I get home! It is almost indistinguishable from scrambled eggs. The breads are also tasty and feel healthy. - Chia seed pudding - this is refreshing and the raspberry works well with the unique texture that chia seed creates. Again, tasty and addictive. I'm excited to see where this place goes, and I regret not being able to try more dishes. My sister and I both enjoyed this place, as omnivores who needed a break from the heavy meat and carby dishes we were eating in Austria. This place felt warm and welcoming rather than the hipsterly pretention you sometimes see in health-conscious places. Definitely come give this place a try!

Yelpers so…read morerecommended this place that we tried to go our first night in town, and were advised that it might be a 30 minute wait -- but the staff *also* told the 7 parties ahead of us that it might be a 30 minute wait for them, too. So we went elsewhere. We went back the next night at an off-hour and while the food was fine, I would have been highly disappointed had we waited in line for 30 minutes, let alone 2 or more hours. This restaurant has a prime location and a strong online reputation. And perhaps our experience was impacted by the fact that we went at an off-hour. Still, there are much better options, with equal character, available across the city. Consider branching out -- and check my other Salzburg reviews for other alternatives.

We came in around 5pm for an early dinner before our train back to Munich and was able to grab a table for 4. We got incredibly lucky because the restaurant really filled up and by the time we left, there was a long line down the block. Of course we had to have their Original Wiener Schnitzel, which was so crispy on the outside and juicy on the inside. We also had a Salzburger Nockerl, which is a classic Austrian soufflé dessert that is considered a culinary symbol of Salzburg. You do have to order this about 20 minutes in advance, so we ordered it when we made our entree orders. This was really good and honestly, more than enough for our group of 4. I also highly recommend their house beer, which was one of the best beers I had during our 10 day trip.
