One star or 0 star for the security experience going in, they're very strict with liquid allowance and will make you repack in their clear pouch (zip lock bag) or have you check your bag in (or throw things out). There was one Asian short-haired lady who went through every single bag and pouches including some of my empty travel-size containers and said it couldn't all fit in the clear bag I had. I wanted to try repacking my stuff to consolidate items but she wouldn't allow me to touch the bag and told me to go back out if I wanted to try fitting things in, she then walked away with my bag and didn't leave clear instructions on what I should do next. At some point when she was checking all my stuff, she told me I couldn't touch my other bags that were checked already and I was left very confused standing there with no help trying to figure out where to go next. I find her comment about leaving my stuff there very strange because I'd just be leaving my things unattended and risk losing them if I walked away. Anyway, after waiting and asking around some more, I found out she took my clear bag and left it by the front area where we got the bins when we first walked in before getting scanned. I collected my stuff since I couldn't just leave them there and took a couple of tries to find ways to get back out with all the security guards looking at me like I was a weirdo trying to get back out. That was such an uncomfortable experience. Once I got to the front, this other lady was just as mean and changed instructions to that I'd have to repack my things in a clear pouch she gave me or she would throw things out without letting me finish repacking my stuff :( I started combining some cream/lotion items and the lady commented that I was too slow, already spending an hour standing there, which was not true. I consolidated 2 things and that was more like 5-10 minutes max. She also said I would miss my flight if I didn't throw things out (I was 3 hours early), I then asked her if I could go outside of the security zone to sort this out and again got a hard no with a very mean attitude... After some awkward pause, she rudely said to me I could either throw things out or I can go out to pay 78-80 dollars to get my baggage checked and not waste any more time standing there. Luckily I had free luggage check-ins with my flight (flying business for work) so I went and dropped that off. I don't normally do that with my carry-on because they always come back broken... And of course, my suitcase came back broken this time as well :( another long story for another day on filing luggage damage claims. It's like one of those days where you have one thing that goes wrong and then everything else following that also goes wrong. Pretty upset this whole situation was a mess and the airport security was such a terrible experience. Making traveling so much worse than it needs to be. What would I do with a small bottle of perfume or a half-empty travel-sized face lotion? This overall experience sucked and they were both quite mean and rude with their attitude, with this drama being so unnecessary. When I came back through security the second time, I picked the other line with a guy security and that went through fine with no issues. Much easier. So make sure to pick the side with less ladies to get a better experience. Do remember to take your electronics out and keep any liquid, gel, cream or paste in a separate clear bag, and hopefully, you'll have a better experience there too. Tax refund is at the global currency exchange place (opposite from duty free) if you can find someone there, you can call on the desk phone if you need by the side. Didn't work for me but an option. Getting krone/cash is probably easier if you want to just spend it on something else like snacks or LEGO vs getting USD/EUR with less money back from the conversion. Business lounge is up on the stairs. Overall I didn't have a good time at this airport and I hope I never have to come back again. I travel a lot around the world and this is the first time being treated with so much disrespect and such an unpleasant experience. Super disappointed coming from a place I enjoyed staying so much.

Billund Lufthavn (BLL) and Københavns Lufthavn (CPH) are the two largest airports in Denmark. BLL is located in Billund, Denmark, and is the primary airport for the Legoland amusement park. CPH is located in Kastrup, Denmark, and is the main international airport for Denmark. Billund Lufthavn is a smaller airport that is primarily used for domestic and European flights. It is located about 100 kilometers from Copenhagen, making it a convenient option for travelers who are visiting Legoland or other attractions in southern Denmark It is a nice little airport with a few places to eat and drink. Also a Lego store!

This airport has been my home airport for a long time. This is the airports that I have flown in/out from most - and I generally enjoy Billund Airport. The terminal is bright, airy and very enjoyable. The ground staff is, for the most part, very smily - and there are always a homely feeling to the service. You feel like a friend to them rather than a customer, in a good way of course. The airport offers a efficient service from check-in via boarding to departure + arrival again. Dining and shopping options are limited, naturally because of its limited size. I do find the dining and shopping options more than sufficient to my needs, and the culinary things are generally of a very high quality, delicious, nutritious and healthy. Can you be fan of an airport? Yes, sure you can. I can. I am a fan of this airport. Billund isn't flawless, but does pretty good on all parameters. Having said that, I have some personal feelings with this airports as well. This is where all my childhood memories are from, when my travels were to begin - so I may not be totally reliable.

This is a solid local airport that serves area very well. It's a gateway for Lego land (you can see as you land), and they know taking care family passengers = €€€. Modern and well designed baggage pick up and entry control. Rental car access is right by the baggage pick up, and parking is across the terminal building with quick walk. Couple shops and plenty of space for family to relax before flight.

This is a airport I travel to when im on my way to Esbjerg or Horsens. It´s a local and small airport but its easy to find you´re way. On the other hand, I wish it was more option if food or a coffe shops. But the TaxFree is big and good so you can easly find something for yourself or a gift. I like that its easy to the the bus to the destination right outside the airport. And everytime I have been here, its not that many people like other airport.
We came to Billund to bring the kids to Lego House during Spring Break and it was a journey to get here. There were no direct flights fry the Bay Area so we spent a couple days in Greece and then flew to Frankfurt and then to Billund. It is a small airport and the benefit it is easy to get in and out. We came during off seasons so it was even more quiet and it was easy to rent a car when we decided impromptu to get one without having reserved one before. After the long trip it was great being greeted by Lego stuff right at baggage claim getting both kids super excited. There is a smaller replica of the Lego tree inside of Lego House and there is a fun blue Trex opposite to the "Visit Lego House" wall. Exiting the baggage claim there is a 1:1 lego built statue with a welcome to Billund sign. All of these are great photo opportunities and a good reminder of the towns association with Lego, even the airport itself was constructed originally by Lego. We didn't leave from this airport so I wasn't able to check but years ago there was an exclusive "Lego Billund" airport set that you could only buy at this airport. read more
Billund Airport was a short hop from Copenhagen and easy to navigate. They hosted both Denmark domestic and some international flights. We only flew one way into Billund and found it to be not very crowded and easy to navigate given its smaller size. From the time we disembarked from our SAS flight we quickly exited baggage claim in less than 15 minutes. It could've been faster if not for the various Lego creations installed throughout the airport that we just had to photograph. The taxis, rental cars and buses to Legoland and downtown Billund were just outside arrivals. The buses were inexpensive and took about 15 minute to downtown.. Another must see for Lego lovers in Billund.. read more
Been here many time through the years and have seen the airport grow as a large regional airport from its small corporate LEGO company beginnings. Now with another new terminal building, very airy and expedient. Location is convenient for visiting main land Jutland instead of driving over from Copenhagen. I haven't had security issues inbound or coming through customs here through the years. Checkin processes have been have good like a larger airport. :-) Good duty free shop and food options. I recommend the King Amlet Lounge if you access etc. Rental Car offices are now offsite and a brisk walk out the terminal to the right. The two larger white buildings when you exit the terminal are for parking. I learned the hard way :-) Rental Car Returns are marked well until you reach the building again, and the entrance is right past the building. read more

So have used Billund airport for years flying in from the US via Amsterdam. Easy check-in as well as luggage pickup. Untbil this week rental car pick was a breeze with the office in the terminal and the cars across behind the parking garage (stopped using CPH because of their crazy remote car rental office). Well now Billund has done the same and moved the car rental offices away from the terminal. I returned a rental car Monday (Dec 2) in a gravel parking lot and had to walk several hundred meters to the rental office and then again several hundred meters to the terminal - oh did I mention it was raining ... I was soaked by the time i got to the terminal. I really do not understand the logic behind this decision. Are you trying to punish people renting cars? You have all the advantages of a smaller airport and then you do this. read more
Super cute airport! I was here during off season, so I can't imagine what it's like when it's high season in the summer with all the families here for Legoland. Not many food options once you clear the security check point so I would bring something with you from the outside. Just no liquids ;) read more
This is a small airport, but just about everything went extremely smoothly for me here. So much of it is automated. Even if you have checked luggage, you do it yourself at one of the auto-kiosks where you print and affix the label yourself. Even going into the security line, you scan your boarding pass on your own and security is a breeze. There are some shops for you to peruse before going to your gate (where you scan your pass again) including the Lego store and a really nice breakfast buffet place on the second floor. I would gladly choose this airport again next time I go to Denmark. read more

Was at Billund Airport on my way to/from Denmark in July 2022. Although the building looks like a modern structure from outside, but inside is not that modern at all. Dirty floors, no free Wi-Fi at all! No water stations to fill in your own container. Prices for bottled water are ridiculously high! The check-in counters were short of staff. There was a long line of travelers waiting patiently to be checked-in, but meanwhile a security person was bringing his own people ahead of everyone! Not just once, but 3-4 times! That's a disgrace, because he was using his position to his own benefit. Screening person was over too zealous, just to show around her own might! Those things left me - a world traveler - with unpleasant memories of being in Denmark. read more

Flying into Denmark and want to avoid going to Copenhagen? Billund connects Denmark with major destinations around Europe and the world. The small airport has cheaper parks, avoids bridge tolls, and always has a quicker, more efficient travel experience. There's never traversing miles to get to your gate and security goes at a lightening speed. Even with all three of our bags flagged, we were through in about ten minutes. read more

Very nice for a small airport. Lots of shopping including a Lego store since Legoland is only 30 minutes away. read more
High marks for having a Lego store right in the airport, but Billund is their birthplace so I guess they kind of have to. Low marks for too many stairs though. If you're hauling bags around, having to lug them up and down stairs just kind of sucks and there were a lot of places where we felt like we were waling up stairs just so we could walk down stairs on the other side. the airport was nice and reasonably comfortable but they were not great with sharing info when our flight was delayed two hours which is always extra annoying when you had to get up unreasonably early to meet your initial flight time. That may be on RyanAir but the airport wasn't terribly helpful though either. read more

Great airport to pass through on the Ryanair network. Also used heavily by Cimber Air, BA (Sun-Air) and KLM. It is difficult to get to by public transport, served only by buses from/to Aarhus, Vejle and Kolding. Departures and Arrivals are at opposite ends of the main terminal. The check-in desks have self service computers if its busy. There is one restaurant and cafe at the front of the terminal and another of each in the security zone. Both are very expensive, although the quality of the food is quite good. Ryanair fly from here to Stansted, Birmingham, Edinburgh, and Dublin, so it's very accessible from the UK. Although expensive, its a very comfortable airport to wait for your flightn and for smokers it has small booths where you can smoke in and have a beer. read more

No strollers allowed through security control. Everybody talks about Wifi, sure good when you don't have a phone with LTE... Bathrooms are clean as you can expect in a clean country like Denmark. But when you check in with a baby and you're glad it's sleeping and then you have to wake it up so a rule can be fulfilled?! Big NO GO! So we had to check the stroller in and give it to bulky luggage. read more

As I normally use Aarhus Airport I was very pleasantly surprised by the high standard of Billund Airport. Everything from check-in to security went smoothly and the staff were friendly, an unfortunate rare feature at many airports. The choice of food and shopping was good considering the size of the place and I was especially fond of the little Danish Pølsevogn (sausage van) inside the building. The airport lounge is very spacious and has one of the best selections of food I have seen in any airport lounge (definitely better than Copenhagen). The public transport is not the best as it is only served by busses, but this is also the case for Aarhus Airport and Billund Airport is much nicer and friendlier. I will definitely start flying to Billund more often. read more
I got to tell ya, this is a pretty decent airport for a local one. I use this to get in and out of town on business. It's really close to the hotels and it's easy in/easy out at 6:30am. The breakfast is decent in the morning and it's easy to get to your plane. What more could you ask for? read more

Not a baby friendly airport. We were traveling international with our baby. It was going to be a long flight and we had several lay-overs. They did not allow us to take the stroller to the gate but forced us to check it in all the way to our final destination (baby usually sleeps in the stroller during a lay-over which can last hours). They did not allow us to take the car seat on the plane, and also forced us to check it in to our final destination. I understand that some flights may be full but our flights were pretty empty and our baby would have been so much comfortable for those 24hrs (that is how long the entire trip was). They padded me down because I was bringing milk to the plane. Although they tested the milk and it was cleared. They did not print our boarding passes for the following flights because I was traveling with a baby. Awful experience. How do Danes travel with babies?? read more
