I've never had brunch before you know. Totally new thing to me. Anyway a friends of ours arranged it and said meet him at Bill's on Albion place.
I'd never heard of Bill's but I knew Albion Place so off i went. Arrived at midday exactly and was immediately shown to our seat. I think we'd booked ahead but even so it wasn't super busy and the staff seemed good at getting people seated when they walked in off the street.
We ordered food and drink. And were also given orange juice and apples free. This seemed to be a normal thing, done for everyone, was really nice. I hope they keep that kind of spirit going. The apples were in a box by the door. It seemed customer or no you were welcome to them.
The food was very nice. Perhaps a little on the light side for me but then again we were having brunch not a full dinner.
The thing that really sold me on this place was, after we'd eaten our food (which was nice) and drunk all our drinks (also nice) and chatted to the staff (very nice). We were just left to our own devices. They didn't hurry us out, didn't pester us to order more. I think in the hour we sat after our meal they came over a couple of times. Second time we got waters but no more money was spent. It was so nice. almost felt like being in a European cafe. Just a little more easy going than you'd expect in England.
The cafe is perhaps a little cramped to be truly comfortable for a long period of time, but its well decorated and i was happy enough. Highly recommended. :-) read more
