I sent a Hustler X One to them this summer. The throttle cable was loose. After checking the unit, they called and said some bearings were bad. I gave approval to fix. $750 later the mower was picked up. The very first time i went to use it, there wasn't enough power to engage the mower deck. There had been no problem with the carburetor when I took it in. I called and they said it must be the carburetor, if I would bring it back, they would replace it and just charge me for the part. It is very difficult for me to take it to them, paid a guy to do so. We had to pull it onto a trailer with a tractor. After 30 days, my son-in -law picked it up. The first time I went to use it, at full throttle the power was about half of normal. Then I tried to run it. A extremely high pitched squeal from the left rear. I called them immediately. Dr Bill' said "I would have never let it leave with a problem". Bring it back". Well he let it leave the first time with a problem. Now a second time. I am 74, I don't have help to take it back to them again. I haven't had a mower that worked since June. What was a loose throttle cable has turned into almost $1000, two trips, and a mower that still has a major problem. read more

I took my mower in, they diagnosed the problem and got it fixed up and running faster than they anticipated.

Dropped my bike off there over 8 weeks ago- they said the part needed was a month out. Ok! Parts are hard to get right now. Six weeks later I called to see what was taking so long, was told the part had not showed up yet. At 8 weeks when I call I was told the part had not even been ordered! When I questioned them as to why they had not called to let me know the bike would not be ready the lady working the front desk was rude and completely unapologetic for their own screw up she even had the nerve to charge me $25 before letting me have the bike back. I wind not recommend this place to anyone! read more

History

Established in 1966.

Bill's Lawn Mower Shop was originally opened in 1966 by Bill Chew, a Stephenville local. Bill had many jobs before he decided to open the shop, each of which led him closer and closer to his dream. In 1953, when Wayne Barham offered to make Bill the manager of the Stephenville Produce Company Mr. Chew had no idea what lie before him. After several years of loyalty to the Stephenville Product Company, Mr. Barham asked Bill to buy into the business and become the co-owner of what would then be called Barham Seed and Supply.Throughout his time at Barham Seed and Supply, Bill began fixing lawn mowers on the side to make extra money for the company, but after a while his mower repair became even more lucrative than the company itself. At this point the partners agreed that it was time to part ways and allow Mr. Chew to open Bill's Lawn Mower Shop in 1966 near the Stephenville town square. The name "Bill's Lawn Mower Shop," came from the secretary of Barham Seen and Supply.

I am owner of Bill's lawn mower shop. I purchased shop in 2005. it was a family owned business that was already 40 years old. Today we are 52 years strong and now have grown into Dr. Bill's outdoor supply store to help meet all you outdoor equipment needs as well.
