Talk about a godsend…read more In 2019, my now ex and me* (really me) had bought a house together. The idea being I would put the money down and he'd take care of the mortgage. We broke up in July 2020 and my ex promised to pay me at least half of the money back. After a couple of weeks he started to get ragey and I fed the apartment, fearing for my safety. I was prepared to walk away from a house, 25K+, and nearly all my material possessions. Within 2 days my ex and his mortgage lender started harassing me, demanding I sign gift letters, saying he didn't owe me any money back. At that point I contacted Stoneman Legal. With Todd Stoneman's help, I realized that my once "Mr. perfect boyfriend" ex was a grand theif. Todd found out that while I suffered from bouts of crippling pain (I have endometriosis), my ex illegally withheld critical documents, checks, and information throughout house purchasing process. Armed with this knowledge I was able to get all my money and possessions back without my ex attacking me. As an artist working to start a new business, his legal guidance really did so much save my financial life. Thank you so much!

Unbelievable temperament and the worst phone call with an attorney I've ever experienced. I was…read morereferred to this law firm from LegalShield (a pre-paid legal service) for family law. They offer free consultation, but make referrals when you need to actually hire an attorney or get legal advice. So I call Kathryn Goff, telling her I was referred and need an attorney. "Oooooookaaaaaaaaaay," is the response followed by a long pause. I ask if it's worth me explaining my situation, see if it's within her area of expertise. Things are going fine, and then I start asking questions. But something must have really upset her, because she begins yelling at me about "What do you want me to do?! Stop asking about what this means or why this and that! STOP IT!" It felt like a Bob Newhart skit. I'm not exaggerating when I say yelled; it was surreal. She even took a breath to apologise about it being too early for questions (at 10am) before starting right back up. I guess it was a tough morning, but I've never interacted with someone who lacked charm to the extent that they actually turned a prequalified sale away. "What do I want you to do?" Um, how about provide details about what the process looks like? How about getting a retainer and moving forward with representation? Do you take cash or cheque? Should we meet first? Does my situation warrant specific counsel? I mean, most professional services have a process...I think it's reasonable to assume you will outline yours. You mentioned that people often call and tell you, "I am overwhelmed" or "Can you help me?" Do you talk to them the same way as with me?Here's some free advice that I'll quietly offer - which, in both capacities (free and quiet), you seem unable to do: be mindful of what your prospects really need. What they're really asking for is to be guided through the process. If someone asks why a certain thing is done, they are telling you they don't know what they don't know - and they are depending on your expertise to hold their hand. One way you can really improve your sales is to consider being a CONSULTANT to your clients and solve their pain-points, not add to them. And I get that attorneys have a reputation for being awful human beings, but it really costs you nothing to display a little phone etiquette.

Save yourself the heartache and look somewhere else, if you are wanting a lawyer that will PARTNER…read morewith you in the estate/probate issues you are facing. I am living in a different state but needed probate expertise (advise) in the county/state where Goff & Goff practice law and was referred to them thru a service offered by my company. Kathryn immediately seemed impatient in answering my questions. Although the estate in question is small, the matters at hand are very important to myself and my extended family members. Kathryn initially refused to help because she didn't have the necessary referral letter that should have gone from the 3rd party service to her. When I attempted to ask questions about how to get the required referral letter, she became combative and rude. Additionally, even though I was willing to pay for her time and had bullet-pointed my specific questions in an email, she eventually refused to offer me service at all since she didn't see the opportunity for court action and higher dollars stating my case didn't have "merit." To top it off, when she received my complaint regarding her rude behavior thru the 3rd party service, she turned the complaint around and said she was not willing to tolerate my husband helping to ask questions in the background in order to assist me. Highly disappointed in what seemed to me to be an easy task (and therefore easy money) for an experienced lawyer. Now I have to start over wasting the time to get yet another referral and explain the situation to someone new. My request was relatively small and garnered such harsh treatment. I can't imagine if I was stuck dealing with this lawyer long term. Hope this helps someone else. She was definitely more concerned with her own convenience than helping someone in need.

Ladies, take your business elsewhere. This is a disorganized firm, and they exposed their sexism…read moreduring my interaction with them. I received several phone calls from one of their attorneys, Andrew Dunkin, that were intended for one of his clients. He had the wrong number. Despite the fact that he received no response to these calls, even though they involved hearings, etc., and despite my calling their firm to explain that he had the wrong number, he continued to call. I then spent close to 10 minutes getting through their phone system to let Andrew know that he had yet left another message at the wrong number. Andrew was...(wait for it)...clearly irritated that I asked them to stop calling. No good deed goes unpunished, I guess. (By the way, you're welcome, Andrew.) If you're a woman, then you should know this: I left a review on Google as well, to which he responded in a triggered way, including classic deflection and projection. He indicated that I needed to be more understanding about a simple "typo" in their records. Never mind HIS conduct on the phone, and never mind HIS inconveniencing of a total stranger - a stranger who attempted to call twice to correct HIS mistake. It's the cliche "she's overreacting" response and attempting to shift blame. Gosh, us crazy ladies, you know? With that said, I was a paralegal for 20 years. Pro tip: attorneys love to blame their predominantly female support staff for their incompetence. If your attorney has a habit of blaming staff, run.
