His services were reasonably priced and he was attentive to our requests, giving his expect opinion as well. We had minimal permit issues with Tony's plans. I'm a general contractor and if I could give a negative five-star rating, I would. This guy (Chris…read moreUebel) claiming to be a professional is the single most rude condescending person I have ever met and in my 30+ career and is a walking law suit waiting to happen. It is the single most awful company I have ever had to work with. I have watched him try and successfully get guys fired when he was the one making the mistakes. I have watched him put personal demining options in documentation when it does not belong. Everyone knows in construction it takes a coordinated effort for success and this guy and his company does the exact opposite of that then turns around and blames other people for their short comings. The magnitude of money lost due to an inability to work well with others is mind boggling. I WOULD NEVER EVER RECOMEND THIS COMAPNY TO ANY ONE IN THE CONSTRUCTION INDUSTRY.

When the Tubbs fire destroyed our Fountaingrove home in October 2017, our decision to rebuild…read morenecessitated finding an architect who could help us define the vision for our new home, design within our budget and work collaboratively with us and with our contractor. After researching and interviewing several local architects, we met with Joel Baumgardner of Sebastopol on a friend's recommendation. We feel fortunate to have found such a consummate professional. Joel gave us everything we could have hoped for from an architect and more, especially during that very stressful time. Extremely responsive, budget and quality conscious, he worked closely with us over several months to translate our dream into detailed plans that complied with all of the new city, county and state regulations. He also helped us qualify for energy efficiency rebates that defrayed our rebuild costs and forged an excellent working relationship with our contractor. When issues arose, Joel outlined our design options and played devil's advocate as we considered them, always having an opinion but never forcing his choices on us. We are sad to hear about the problems with their architects that other folks rebuilding their homes have had to cope with in addition to the stress brought on by the fires and their aftermath. Joel earned our trust, designed us a beautiful home and was a pleasure to work with. He has earned our gratitude and our highest recommendation.

Bill Egan was a wonderful referral that we were given by a contractor (John Fannon at Green Home…read moreConstruction). John let us know that he used Bill for client's projects in the past. We were very happy with Bill Egan. He is an architect who brings a lot of experience to the table. He works very fast and will not waste your time. His quote for our kitchen renovation drawings was about 1/3 the cost of most other architects we have interviewed. He is able to respond to any questions you ask and will not try to draw out the process for you. For example, if you are doing a kitchen renovation......he will not try to make the project any bigger than it needs to be. Bill was on-time, prompt over email and very easygoing at laying out the process in a way you could understand. Plus, he was able to solve many difficult problems that we had in our small kitchen space (allowing us to add a bathroom and so forth). As well, he was able to anticipate problems along the way and was able to adjust for these. I highly recommend him as an architect and would be happy to provide referrals to anyone else who is interested in using him. Plus, he is very responsive over email (responding the same day that I sent emails) which is very useful and much appreciated. He takes into account what you are asking for and is able to help you to fix problems. But, he is not trying to gut your whole house when all you want is a kitchen renovation.

This is the second home he has designed for our family and in both cases we were 150% satisfied with the entire experience. The first house was ultra modern and I was not sure how he would feel about a traditional home. To say that the design exceeds our expectations is an understatement. He listened very carefully to understand my style and then came up with a very unique design. I have not seen anything like the kitchen he designed anywhere. He is very practical and has been involved in managing the contractor even though we are doing this long distance. He also helped in the selection of finishes eliminating the need for an interior designer in our case. This saved us a lot of money. There were no change orders related to his design. That is huge. His plans are very detailed and he got them through our local planning dept. very swiftly. He is very honest, ethical and has great inter-personal skills. Finally I think his rates are pretty reasonable by Bay Area standards. Whenever I encounter someone this good, I always yelp about it!
