I have rented bikes from Bike Cycles two times in the last month. I am in the category of spirited group rider. I rented road bikes. Both bikes were in perfect shape and the fit was right. The team at the store installed my pedals and adjusted the seat height. I couldn't recommend this store more. All kinds of bikes to rent. So if your are cruising on the beach or going on a hard long ride with roadies these guys will set you up. Prices reasonable too. read more

Second time using this bike shop. I drove 90 mins round trip. Super friendly staff, both times they had my bike fixed in 10-15 minutes. They are very accommodating. Didn't try to upsell me anything and prices were reasonable. The owner was knowledgeable and very nice. Highly recommend. read more

The bike was great and the people were even better. They made some route suggestions that were perfect. The Wilmington cross city trail was fun to explore. read more

Easy online reservation. Easy and quick pickup and return. Friendly staff and bikes in great condition.

We were on vacation in Wilmington NC to escape the early March cold and snow in MA, and wanted to bike the Cross-City Trail. It was easy to complete the online reservation the day before for 4 hybrid bikes of varying sizes as well as request delivery and pickup. Since I'd ordered on a Sunday for 10am delivery on Monday, I used the chat function to confirm and received a prompt reply. Zack met us with the bikes at Wade Park parking lot as requested. 2 of us had brought helmets and he had 2 helmets and a lock in his truck (you should note helmet and lock needs in your order). The bikes were light, easy to use with 7 gears, and had holders for water bottles. Thought we'd only bike until 2pm but we're enjoying it so much that by lunchtime (at McAlister's Deli near UNCW) we called to request change to 4pm pick-up which was kindly granted. When we got near Eastwood Rd (almost 12 miles) we turned around and headed back to Wade Park. The trail is almost all off-road, there are push activated signals with cross walks at intersections, and there is signage (though we were very glad we had both the map and AllTrails app), and there are restrooms at 3 of the parks along the path. We missed the left turn near Flying Machine Brewery and backtracked. Then soon after we locked the bikes at Wade Park we got a text from Zack confirming that he picked them up. Would we do it again? Absolutely! read more

I have nothing but great things to say about the folks at Bike Cycles. Most recently, Shawn helped me pick out and set up an awesome fat bike for me. He helped my parents who are not bike folks pick out a couple of great cruisers for their annual trip to the outer banks where they spend a good bit of time biking. These guys know bikes and they will spend the time necessary to get you fit and get you the accessories you need! I don't live in Wilmington anymore, but if I'm getting a bike I'm still going back to get it from them! read more

Impromptu beach trip and wanted to get in some exercise. Simple process to rent and helpful staff giving local riding routes.

Shawn and his team at Bike Cycles are brilliant. I rented a bike from them for several days while in the Wrightsville Beach / Wilmington area. They went above and beyond. Great experience. read more

We had a great time with the rentals. The boys enjoyed the freedom of having to ride the bikes to the beach from the mayfaire location.

Bike Cycles is an awesome local bike shop and Shawn has contributed so much to the cycling community over the years. Excellent for sales and service. read more

These guys were great! I traveled in from out of town for the 1/2 Ironman and when unpacking my bike I noticed on e of my Shimano Di2 cables was frayed. I did a local search of bike shops and I found Bike Cycles to be close by my hotel. I spoke with Jon B. on the phone just before closing time. He helped determine what the issue was with my bike and I told him I'd be there first thing in the morning. When I came in, he addressed me by my name (from the previous conversation) and had everything waiting and performed the service/repair I needed in a timely manner and a great price. The staff is incredibly friendly and very knowledgeable. I only wish they were my local bike shop as they would definitely have another customer for life. Thanks again Jon! read more

If you own a bike, or want to buy a bike, BIKE CYCLE is the place to go in the Wilmington area. I have bought bicycles there, had repairs and maintenance work done there...they get it right! The owner and staff know cycling and are courteous, helpful, and if your bicycle needs special attention or custom work...they can do it...and it will be completed right. BIKE CYCLES is TOPS! read more

Brought my bike in for a tuneup and to add some accessories. Speedometer, back rack and water bottle holder. Got it all done in a couple of days. I was a little surprised that they charged to attach the equipment I bought but all in all good experience and if I need anything else I will go back read more

Great guys and excellent service. Took my bike in for a level one service and it was ready the next day. They really went above and beyond.

Last week we rented an apartment on Wrightsville Beach and arranged to have the team at Bike Cycles deliver 3 beach cruiser rentals for the duration of our stay. We were pleasantly surprised by the quality of the 3G bikes that were waiting for us when we arrived. The bikes were like new and perfect for a week of riding along the roads and on the packed beach sand around low tide. We highly recommend renting from Bike Cycles. read more

I'm mixed about this bike dealership/rental place. There really are only two bike shops in Wilmington. Residents are stuck with two wheeler dealer who are arrogant and pricey on the bikes and ignore those that are new to biking OR Bike Cycles who are generally very pleasant, are also very pricey in their own right. Both stores are usually closed when you need them the most (kind of like a car dealership). So they should be great at catering to those without a job who can't afford the bikes they sell..... In any case, I am writing this review because 1) they were very nice to me when talking bikes with them (which is great!) and 2) because when I finally ordered a bike online to have assembled locally, they quoted me a price of 150 dollars!!!!!!! (which is idiotic). So they are nice people, but ultimately they are a bike shop. I had to go to the people at two wheeler dealer because they had the standard 60 buck assembly fee. Someone needs to write performance bicycles and tell them to open a shop here in town, they would put both of these shops out of business. read more

I live in Portland OR and, on short notice, I decided to meet my daughter (who was bike touring from Maine to Florida) in Wilmington NC and ride with her to Savannah GA. The staff at Bike Cycles understood my needs immediately and suggested I rent one of their road bikes. Furthermore, they agreed to mount panniers on the rental bike. I picked up the bike a few days later and I was on the road in no time. The service at Bike Cycles was excellent and the staff was friendly and helpful. I had a great week riding with my daughter and Bike Cycles made it all possible! read more

Went in just to look at the beach bike options. Shawn said even with a money back guarantee his job was to fit us with the right bikes so we wouldn't need to bring them back and he was right! Really listened to how we were going to use them and made a great recommendation of the Sun bike. We love them and would recommend Bike Cycles to anyone. read more

This place rocks. I'm an out-of-towner with a busted bike. They fixed it in a jiffy and saved my vacation. Couldn't have been nicer!

Great bike store. Could use a bit more triathlon gear but really great staff and different kinds of bikes.

The moment that you walk through the door, you'll know, this place is the real deal. This shop is for true bicyclists, avid riders, novices and occasional riders alike. I did not see a snob in the store. I did see a bunch of happy, smiling customers. I did see the technicians working on bikes right out where you could see them. I LOVED this shop, I wish it were here in my hometown. Well done guys. read more

Just returned to enjoy Wilmington once again from the West Coast. This time I sent my road bike to Bike Cycles for set-up and also picked up a FatBoy I purchased from them by phone to ride here. Everything was dialed in perfectly. Again, they delivered everything I needed on time and at a fair price. Thanks Jon and Shawn. read more

Bike shops don't get any better than this--anywhere. I've had bikes serviced in Colorado, New York City, Atlanta and countless other places. Bike Cycles stands out in my mind for their quality work, knowledgeable and friendly service and general helpfulness. Not to mention that they all seem to love what they do. While in the Wilmington area on vacation, my Parlee racing bike blew over, bending the rear derailleur and making it non-functional. When I walked in on a busy Sunday, the guys at Bike Cycles dropped what they were doing and worked tirelessly to get me back on the road that afternoon. Remarkable service. Thanks, guys. read more

This place is a joke. I brought my carbon wheel in for a spoke replacement and truing. They told me they would call when it was done but 2 weeks was a good guess on how long it would take since the spoke had to be special ordered. Well... 2 weeks went by and I didn't get a call. I let 3 weeks pass and then I called them to find out the status of the wheel. They told me that they had to call me back. Figuring they would call me back and tell me they were unable to get their hands on the spoke since it is a spacial order I decided to call Easton (company who makes the wheel) directly. I was curious to see how long it would take to get a replacement spoke. Easton told me they have them in stock and can have it to me in a couple days. Needless to say, while on the phone with Easton I ordered the spoke and nipple myself and then drove over to this so called bike shop and picked up my busted wheel. Once my spoke arrives I will take it over to Two Wheeler Dealer where they will install my spoke and true my wheel for 20 dollars cheaper than Bike Cycles was going to do it for. So the lesson here folks... Not only is Bike Cycles inept but they are a rip off. read more

I am on vacation and went in here today to get a small issue with my road bike fixed. Todd was great. He fixed the problem, identified a few other issues, and got me out of there in less than a hour. The prices were very very competitive. Definitely wish my LBS was as good as this place. read more

Great service when we checked out bikes today. A bit pricey but will definitely return when ready to buy.

They are great always friendly and knowledgeable staff. Been shopping there for my biking needs always have stuff I didn't know I needed.

The prices at Bike Cycles Wilmington are out outragous. I live really close and need a standard replacement part. I was totally shocked at the price. FYI the part was a cable housing for a 3 speed cruiser bike. I needed 7 feet, the charge $5 per foot. Yes totally histerical. I paid because it was already cut. I will NEVER EVER EVER set foot in that store again. I don't care if they are local or not, from now on I will buy online. read more
