I chose the set menu of an entrée and main. The entrée was a delicious salad, with bacon and almonds. On top was some sort of decadent cheese, warmed slightly on bread. It would have been enough food for the whole meal. The main was filet mignon, but needed more seasoning or perhaps a sauce. It was accompanied by little white potatoes which had been cooked in bacon fat, bacon, and sautéed onions. I thought the wine a bit expensive for the quantity, but the quality was good. I spent more money than I probably should have, but at least it wasn't touristy.

Lots of typically French fare (andouillette, planche de charcuteries, etc). For dessert we had a filled chou pastry with a chestnut cream (it was the highlight of the meal). With two teas we paid 49 euros for two. - outside tourists' areas - family friendly (they have toys for kids) (this can be a negative if you don't plan on having a romantic lunch surrounded by infants) - friendly service Negative: - the friendly service is very slooooow and a bit chaotic (the club truite was called club chicken, they forgot the sugar for the tea so they had to bring us the cups again etc) - the outside garden is very picturesque but also cold during non summer days. They have some heaters but they hung so high that they only warm at head level. So you end up having cold feet and hot cheeks.

Had the trout special and it was the best trout dish I've ever had. Skin was crisp, sauce was creamy but not too rich. Purée of potatoes with a little balsamic. It was a lot for lunch but I finished every bite. Somehow had room for the fromage blanc. 18 Euros for the three courses. Had a glass of Côté de Gascogne with it. Staff was lovely and patient with my rusty French and shit manners (I'm writing this st the table).

I was surprised to find a relaxed and pretty cosy atmosphere on a Friday night, past happy hour, not too crowded nor loud, perfect for a glass of wine. Food options are scarce, the typical Assiettes, charcuterie and fromage, not a lot of choice for vegetarians or non-pork eating folks... On the upside, a bottle of white wine served with its ice bucket was only 17 euros, regular price. Another good spot pre/post movie at the nearby MK2, or close to the Canal St Martin.
