Papa's Market is a great place to find everything you need in the area from ready made food,…read moredrinks and toiletries. They even have Woods Bay Casino attached and plenty of parking in the back.

This place isn't what it used to be. It's been under new ownership since October 2022. The new…read moreowners had an opportunity to continue making this a welcoming place where locals were met by a friendly face and a warm greeting when they walked in the door. Sadly, they've scored a big F for FAIL. My husband and/or I have stopped in at least a dozen times since last October, and last week we decided "enough is enough." We mostly encounter the male owner, not his wife. He's not much of a talker, gruff to the point of blatant rudeness. A simple question like "where can I find xyz?" is met with a "what, are you stupid?" stare and a reply that expresses that same attitude. We thought maybe he just didn't like us for some bizarre reason. Is it because we've only lived here for 12 years and aren't "old timers" like his family? But we've seen him treat others, tourists and locals alike, just as rudely. It's almost like he's baiting them to call out his rudeness so he can then refuse them service. When we witnessed EXACTLY that last week, we decided we're DONE with Papa's Market, and we are telling all our family and friends who live here to do the same. Word of mouth is still the best form of advertising. When you treat one customer badly, you can multiply that by 10. In small towns like ours, multiply by 20. REAL Montanans are good neighbors, no matter how long their neighbor has lived in Montana. Now, if you don't care about rude business owners (let's face it, civility and common decency appears to have been thrown out the window in this country), here are a few other things to keep in mind before giving this establishment your hard-earned dollars. 1) Prices at places like this (tourist traps) that get a lot of out-of-state travelers usually are much higher. That's an unfortunate given. We understand inflation is making things tough for everyone, but Papa's Market prices are INSANELY high. 6 bucks for a regular size box of Nabisco crackers? 5 bucks for box of cake mix? Back in December, I ran out of raisins for a dessert recipe and sent my husband over to Papa's (3 min. away) for a box. He ended up going to Harvest Foods because even with the extra mileage, it was still cheaper than what Papa's was selling: 6 halloween-treat-size boxes of raisins that had been wrapped in cellophane and slapped with price of $4.99. 2) Gas price gauging. Watch out! Read the Unleaded gas price sign very carefully. The price is for CASH ONLY. When you get to the pump, you'll find the price is at least 10 cents higher if you're paying by credit card. No matter which method of payment you use, gas prices at Papa's are ALWAYS at least 10-20 cents higher than the Harvest Foods gas station just 5 miles north. 3) If you're looking at old reviews, please be aware that Papa's doesn't sell milkshakes anymore. There is a nice veggie/fruit stand set up outside every Wednesday (June-September) by the local Hutterite community. My one star in this review is for the Hutterite stand, though they'd get 5 all on their own.

This review is for the pharmacy only…read more My boyfriend needed to have his prescription refilled while we were away from home, and he has previous experience with our local Walgreens pharmacy in LA, so we decided to stop in and have his medication filled there in Kalispell. It started off with them telling us that his prescription had to be moved over to them, and change it once we returned home. Fine, not a problem. We waited. We made friendly small talk with some of the local residents and exchanged laughs. A few more minutes had passed, and other people who had waited with us were getting their medication, but we had not. We were told that something could take anywhere from a day or two days, it was really unclear what they were talking about. My boyfriend called his local pharmacy to ensure that they faxed over his prescription and information, and they said they did a few minutes ago. However, the pharmacist at Kalispell Walgreens insisted that they didn't receive the fax yet. My boyfriend's local pharmacist was really confused and concerned that the fax had not arrived yet and when he put her on speakerphone, she said that she could resend the fax, or confirm to refill the prescription over the phone, depending on what the laws were in Montana. One of the Walgreens pharmacy employees scoffed when she heard my boyfriend's pharmacist say that she could confirm his prescription over the phone. The employee told his pharmacist, "We can't do that" . His local pharmacist started to say, "That's not true, that's not true" she couldn't even finish her sentence before the Walgreens employee turned to the pharmacist and made a sneering remark about what they were being told. The Walgreens pharmacist then came over, while still behind the counter, and was just saying "No" continuously at my boyfriend's pharmacist, reached over the counter, and pressed the End Call button on my boyfriend's phone. The Walgreens pharmacist proceeded to berate my boyfriend in front of everyone, telling him that he caused conflict between him and his local pharmacist. Whatttt??? All my boyfriend wanted was his medicine and understanding about when he would get his medicine. The Walgreens pharmacist completely failed to show professionalism, compassion, empathy, and patience. I was personally offended, disappointed, shocked, and appalled by this behavior. This pharmacist showed the upmost contempt and disrespect towards my boyfriend. I would strongly recommend staying away from this place and getting your prescription filled elsewhere. No person deserves to be treated like this.
