I have never encountered a more dank, confusing marketplace filled with a smattering of meth heads, nazi bikers, bitcoin miners, and mangy art students in all of my days. It is the opinion of this humble reviewer that this building would be more pleasant as an industrial sewage plant or a mafia-owned trash compacting yard. For the sake of the community and the innocence of your children - pray they don't stumble upon it as adults - this building should be properly addressed as an abomination and shut down. I entered the establishment with my eldest daughter, Theresa, and was met immediately by the unmistakable stench of death. The bloody heap of meat strategically placed directly by the entrance was most certainly the origin of this attack on the senses. When my body reacted to the putridity, I recoiled and turned to my daughter. I watched her beautiful, pure face contort into madness. By this time, horseflies were nipping at our ears and hands, stealing the blood from our veins. For some reason that I will live to regret, we continued deeper into the inferno. The fruit section, normally a safe source of healthy sustenance for the whole family, had seemed to devolve into a detailed hierarchical system of pain. From what I observed, a natural order of destruction had been established between the brave emperor ants and the raccoon guard. Even if I wanted to describe these politics I would have to peel back layers of repression and subconscious damage. By this lonely hour, Theresa had been rendered unconscious by poisonous asbestos fumes. My body being of a slightly larger build, I was thankfully able to remain lucid long enough to drag her in the direction of an exit. On my way out of the store and back to whatever life I might bear to piece back together, I was heckled by a growing crowd of the country's most filthy humans. They threw rancid honeydew at us and sloshed us relentlessly with tepid Faygo. By the time God's grace permitted our safe return to the sidewalk, I was in pure shock. A man of 53 years, I wept and collapsed to the pavement, kissing the ground I took for granted not 10 minutes before. read more

Lebanon Green Store

NEW OWNERS! I was…read morethrilled when i stumbled upon the news that the Lebanon Green Store was re-opening. When they posted their menu to Facebook there was your typical fare of sandwiches, burgers and hotdogs but also scratch made soups and some other interesting additions. Empanadas, tacos as well as pernil are all on the menu. Pernil, a slow roasted pork shoulder, is a celebration and special occasion staple in Puerto Rico and Puerto Rican homes usually served with arroz con gandules. My wife got the empanadas and I ordered the pernil and arroz con gandules. All was excellent, fresh and a wonderful change of pace to other dining options. The pernil was warmed on the griddle which gave it a fabulous crisp that complimented the rich flavor. On a return lunch trip we called ahead to pick up the order while working from home. Our order was waiting for us which was empanadas, including their bacon cheeseburger special (they also make breakfast variants), chicken salad sandwich with potato salad and their vegan butternut squash 'bisque'. The chicken salad was clearly homemade and the sandwich was a generous size. The sandwich included a side (potato salad, my choice) making it a good value. The butternut squash soup was excellent - very thick and there seemed to be noticeable apple bits that complimented the soup wonderfully. The staff was attentive and, while still getting their processes worked out, they were friendly and clearly committed to beginning good business and community members. The only quirk was that we had to order at the front at the main register and pickup in the back, with the posted menu being in the back. I'm certain this will be something that gets worked out over time. The store offers a lot of local products from Mountain Dairy through Hosmer Mountain soda.
