The cream soda was smooth and easy going and at a good price. The onion rings were light, quirky and unusual, took a while to get used to it, but it grew on me. Chicken wings were crispy and nice, not the biggest wings but the quality made up for its lack of size. Burger was nice as well. Sauces were different and interesting, and also they were at completely different sides of the field. BBQ was sweet, strong and tangy, while the orange one was light, easy and subtle. Chips were of a perfect size and quantity Everything had a mild American taste to it, if that makes sense. It was so good I would come back again, I don't have a bad word to say, nothing dissapointed me. And the atmosphere, layout and restaurant decorations were fantastic as well. Good times.

I really liked the small jackets as chair covers. And parking meter and bowling pins on booth edges. Anyway onto the menu... the burgers are names of cars. There's also a hot dog section as well. I ordered the Jeep for the double patty melted cheese and caramelised onion... took a few seconds to plan my culinary attack... gave up after 2 seconds and chomped away! IMHO... it wasn't that great. More like 2.5 stars than 3. It's very high in salt content. All of it. The bacon, patty and the sauce was a bit of over kill. It started falling apart mid way and had to change tactics.. flipped it on to the top of the bun as base. It wasn't the size of it that got to me rather than the saltiness. The burger itself is not complex and does not have a "wow" factor. Well none after the initial awe due to size. Basic white large bun, 2 decent sized patties, albeit quite salty. Bacon .. not crisp.. melted cheese caramelised onions and loads of BBQ sauce. Reminds me a lot of what you could expect at a sausage sizzle .. less the size and double patty. You can make up ur own mind I guess .. as for me......

4.6 We adored Good…read moreTimes Milk Bar. It excels on every level and is a place that demands to be visited. We crossed numerous suburbs to get here. It was a very good decision. The cafe sits beautifully and brightly on a corner on Tucker Road, Bentleigh. Inside is a gorgeous fun bright and airy space replete with lots of warm pink color. It's so cute. There's plenty of room inside though and an outside area too. Overall it's just a great fun space with a terrific feel good factor. It has a lovely sound system and good music as well. It all works wonderfully well. We received a lovely warm greeting and were directed to a cute table by the wall. There's a best practice choice on offer of still or sparkling water. We love our sparkling. We started with Golden Gaytime milkshake. This is a seriously fun smooth, silky sweet offering with a lovely crumbed top. I love a golden gaytime ice cream and I seriously enjoyed this lovely milkshake. We also loved the chocolate peanut butter milkshake too. Both milkshakes were fantastic with great flavours and texture. Oh bliss. The food took a little while to come out but when it did gosh it was worth a little wait. I had the Pastrami Benedict on advice from our server. I have rarely made a wiser choice of meal. This is a fantastic dish and I fawned over every mouthful. It had a gorgeous bernaise sauce. I loved it. The eggs were done perfectly. Lovely pickle and saikraught as well. The pastrami was superb too. I added bacon as a side but didn't need to. I couldn't fault the dish. It was excellent. The world's most beautiful woman had the dippy eggs. She had to. We'd read so much about the dish and it sounded so fun and very tasty. And so it was. She can be a harsh critic at times but she too seriously loved this dish. It's so tasty. It's well thought through and composed. It's entertaining in its own right. Just a great dish all round. We finished with two gorgeous coffees. You certainly don't just have to go to the inner city anymore for great coffee. They know exactly what they're doing here. The coffees were magnificent. We had lovely service throughout here. Our servers were lovely guys and highly professional. A credit to the craft. This is a fantastic cafe. On everything we saw today, Good Times Milk Bar is right up there with the best Melbourne brunch experiences. It's one of those must do Melbourne experiences. Our sincere thanks for the invitation to come here.

It was really, really good. The restaurant has a great vibe about it. For some people, they'd love to come in summer when out the front there are tables on the footpath and on the inner outside there are bar stools to sit and drink while watching the world go by. Inside, the restaurant has a clean, industrial feel to it. It was busy, but not overly loud. We were seated right away and your placemat is the menu, so you dive right into looking for things that grab your taste buds. Many - if not all - dishes are great for sharing, so we started out with Chipas (mini cheese rolls, mandioca flour, cheddar and parmesan) and the Croquetas of the day, which were chicken and corn. Before those came, we were served up a mini bread roll each with an olive and ricotta dip. Very delicious. The entrees came out and they were heavenly. The Chipas were amazing and I could have just had several serves of those as my meal. The were like mini warm cheese scones. The croquetas were good; had a beautiful crumbing on the outside, but the inside was nice, though nothing to rave about. For the main, I ordered my own Caviche de Salmon. It came with mango, cherry tomatoes, onion and plantain crisps. I didn't much care for the plantain crisps, and I hated the fact that there was coriander in the dish without it being listed on the menu. I would have asked for it without it, as I can't stand coriander. Yuck. Of course, there was something that really stood out to me on the dessert menu, so I had to order it. It was a chocolate fondant, with banana and caramel ice cream. That sounded incredibly appealing and tasted really, really good. My only minor complaint about it, was that it was truly ICE cream. That almost ruined it, but the flavours were everything. There was just a few things I didn't like about True South. One was the tables felt sticky. Two was that you could smell cigarette smoke from outside, even though it's illegal to smoke right outside an eatery. And three, because of the open shutters, it allowed for flies to fly in. Small things I guess in relation to how good the food and service was. Yes, the mains came out slowly, but they were really busy and food was continually leaving the kitchen. Would I go back again?? YES, YES, YES. I really enjoyed the meal and it was something different to usual here in Melbourne. How authentic it is, I don't know. But if you want a great spot with good atmosphere, great food and reasonably priced meals, then this is the place for you. It's worth the drive.
