Shopped here today for the first time. Getting into the store was a bit challenging because the…read moreentrance is only accessible from the outside. Once in, the next hurdle was to find an employee to help me find the sport coat in the men's clothing area of the store. From there it was easy. Found a deeply discounted leather sport coat. The ladies that aided my search were Very Helpful to my elderly self! I'll definitely visit again now that I know the ropes.

The amount of merchandise would create possibilities of 'grab and go'. I was surprised in the volume of top name brand items at great reduced prices. The only issue would be getting your size and liking the color selections. The volume of clearance shoes for women was very staggering when you see the number of shelves placed just for this item. The men's section was surprisingly large, the amount of clothing was impressive. I ended up finding Calloway shorts in my size and with a color blend I could live with for 17 dollars, definitely a good bargain. The Calloway golf shirts were priced very well but they didn't have my size, only XLs and S. Overall, a good find in this empty mall in Jefferson City, Missouri.

And then seeing the car the police put in the parking lot to remind us not to drink and drive. Wal-Mart isn't popular in CA. Not in LA at all. I drive to one in Napa, about 30 miles from Berkeley. Is it worth the drive? Yes. Aren't you spending money on gas? Yes Wouldn't it be easier to go to Safeway? NO HELL NO I would rather walk to wal-mart in mapa than go to safeway on shattuck. I understand why the unions hate Wallyworld, I really do. I know Wallyworld closes mom and pop stores, but doesn't every chain? You're telling my Starbucks and Coffee Bean doesn't hurt the small cafe? What about the way Wal-Mart treats it's employees??? Ask a union worker at Safeway about their benefits. Would wal-mart lock it's employees out only to hire people using fake social security numbers? My Ralphs (Kroger) did. And then the union takes 90% of our back-pay. what's a union.. it's a business, out to make money. This Wal-mart is a good example of what a supercenter should be. I enjoy the lay-out, the products are cheap and easy to find and clean. Once it opened, it should have set the standard for the following supercenters. How I miss thee....

I don't support self-checkout because I am strongly in favor of humans having jobs. If I had not needed the items I had, I would have just left. I can do the tech but I'm sure the owners of Walmart are not going broke and are quite capable of hiring and scheduling cashiers. I am also confident that any savings they make on wages go right into corporate profits and pockets. They are not doing this to make things cheaper for customers, although I'm positive that is the story they tell to justify the self-checkout lanes. The more the self-checkout trend grows, if it does, the fewer people there will be who will have that paycheck to spend. I have also heard they lose more money at some of the stores than they paid out in wages because the "attendants" can't watch everyone, and a lot of unpaid merchandise walks out the doors. I only shop at Walmart if I'm desperate already, and now I know not to go there at night if I don't want to compromise my principles.
