But Brambleton Vet said "we can squeeze him in today!" THANK YOU! When we arrived the reception area was clear, clean and the vet tech was understanding when my Dane was super nervous. She walked us to a room and was totaled patient with my dog. I was so worried that he would be stressed out even more when the Doctor came, but Dr. Sisk was so patient and great at handling my nervous fur baby. I am happy to report that my dog is on the mend and they were so accommodating in every way. We moved to the area about a year ago and honestly, I had put my dog's vaccinations on pause because every time I had called a vet in the area, they were 2-3 weeks out at best. Yet it seemed worth the drive, the techs, doctors and front desk was very personable. Nice place. I did not care for the recommend trazodone doctor suggested ..for her fireworks anxiety. If the dog is having panic attacks....trying to knock them out will often make it worse. I have seen sleeping meds do more harm. It can make them feel less in control and I have seen trying to knock a dog or cat out when they are panicked, can increass their panic. So I do not recommend trazodone for panic attacks. Told him she was given dog valium... it seemed to work ok.. about 40% calmer. That is a lot compared to a full panic attack. The fireworks (3-4) times a year she can go into terror and shaking,.., and bad thunder scares her but not nearly as bad. She trembles and wont eat drink or such. Other than that the visit was great. They texted a follow up too. Will need to come back to pick up the flea /tick/heartworm yearly meds. Dog nail trim they did a good job too. Glad we took our dogs here.

I am writing this review with an extremely heavy heart. I have been taking my babies here for years…read moreand in the beginning(with Dr Krauss) they did a wonderful job but the care has steadily declined over the years with almost no contact with an actual Vet in the last couple of years. After taking my dog in and her getting a clean bill of health on June 8th on June 19th I had to take her back in for excessive bleeding in her mouth, thinking maybe she had an infected tooth we were given the crushing news that she had an aggressive tumor growing in her jaw. We were told of our few options, and we went home with a couple of prescriptions and agonized over what to do. After spending a day or two crying, having to watch my poor baby continuously bleeding from her mouth(at times heavily) we sadly made the decision to end her suffering. Wanting her to go peacefully, at home and in her own bed My husband spent days building her a box and digging a grave (in the rain) for her forever home. We went in on the 23rd and tried to make an appointment for June 26th but we were told they could not be here until June 27th so we spent a very emotional week waiting for what we hoped would be a peaceful transition but what we endured was an excruciating ordeal that I'm not sure we will ever recover from. After taking care of my baby for years and knowing her size and weight they neglected to bring enough tranquilizer to put her to sleep. She was terrified and when they tried to give it to her she started to get up and the vet just jabbed it into her, making her cry out in pain. Instead of maybe leaving the room to let her calm down they waited a few minutes and preceded to give her the next 2 shots as my husband held her, I had to look into those terrified eyes while they did this. The only words from the vet (Dr Knick) was "she's gone" and the young lady with her mumbled "sorry for your loss" as they walked out the door. I am sharing my story because I don't want anyone else to have to endure this. Maggie gave us almost 10 years of unconditional love and I had to watch her leave here in terror instead of peace and I don't know if we will ever get over that look in her eyes, she deserved so much better than that! Very disappointing and unprofessional experience with Dr. Matthew Watson and the team at Blacksburg…read moreAnimal Clinic I brought my dog to Blacksburg Animal Clinic today for a scheduled veterinary appointment, and unfortunately, we were not even seen because of an issue involving a $300 balance that I believe should have been handled directly with the ASPCA. A few months ago, my cat had cancer and required surgery on his ears. The ASPCA in Roanoke agreed to pay the $300 balance, and I provided Blacksburg Animal Clinic with documentation stating that the ASPCA would be responsible for the payment. The front-office employee who was working that day was the same person I spoke with today. She had originally scanned the documentation into their system and also spoke directly with the ASPCA representative by phone while I was there picking up my cat after surgery. I was told the ASPCA would be sending the clinic a check in the mail. Today, before my dog's appointment, I was suddenly presented with a statement saying that I still owed the $300. I explained that the ASPCA had agreed to pay this amount and that I had already provided the clinic with documentation confirming that arrangement. At first, I was told they did not have the paperwork on file. Then, after I explained that I knew it had been scanned into their system, they acknowledged that they actually did have the documentation. I also explained that I am disabled, live on a fixed income, and simply cannot afford to pay an unexpected $300 balance that I was told the ASPCA was responsible for. I was not refusing to pay a legitimate bill; I was trying to understand why I was suddenly being held responsible for a balance that had already been arranged to be paid by another organization. While I was speaking with the front-office employee and trying to resolve the issue, Dr. Matthew Watson came out and asked, with what I felt was a very obvious attitude, "Are we still doing this?" referring to my dog's appointment. I told him that I was willing to proceed with my dog's appointment as long as I was not being made responsible for the $300 that the ASPCA had agreed to pay. I explained that I simply wanted the billing issue resolved and did not feel comfortable accepting responsibility for that amount. He then essentially told me that if I didn't like the situation, I should take my dog to another veterinarian. He opened the front door and told me to go to the other vet. I have never been treated this way at a veterinary clinic. I was not yelling, threatening anyone, or refusing to pay a legitimate bill. I was attempting to resolve a billing/documentation issue that appears to have resulted from the clinic's own failure to properly maintain or process the paperwork they had already received. What is especially upsetting is that I clearly explained that I am disabled and live on a fixed income. Instead of showing understanding or professionalism and trying to resolve the situation, I felt dismissed, embarrassed, and essentially pushed out of the clinic. I cannot speak to whether this legally constitutes disability discrimination, but I absolutely felt that my disability and financial circumstances were not treated with appropriate consideration. My concern is not simply the $300. It is the way this entire situation was handled. If the ASPCA payment had not arrived, the professional response should have been to contact the ASPCA, review the documentation, and work toward resolving the discrepancy--not confront me immediately before my dog's appointment and then have the veterinarian tell me to take my dog somewhere else. After being a client here, this experience has completely changed my opinion of this clinic. I will be taking my dog elsewhere. I hope management reviews what happened today, including the documentation regarding the ASPCA payment and how I was treated when I questioned the balance.
