My wife and I engaged Maryland Electric Service Company to part rewire our newly acquired house to…read morerid it of all the remaining old braided 2 wire Romex with No Ground. We made it quite clear to the company that we are more than capable of doing the job ourselves in theory but because we are both in our sixties we thought better of crawling about under this house. They gave us a verbal estimate and arrived to start the work within a few days, we naturally assumed a written estimate would follow, there was none. We had to ask for a detailed invoice, it arrived 3 weeks after the request. The two workmen commenced the project, after a few hours they left without notifying us, they just walked off the job. Everything was working so we thought no more about it until I started to rewire one of the ceiling roses to install a fan and found old braided 2 wire Romex. To save any delay I rewired that and another light fixture, that also hadn't been touched, back to a suitable junction box. We invited the company back to explain their rather rude departure and the presence of the old wiring, their excuses were rather vague but I assume that their money estimate and time allotment had run out and they decamped. Last week we started to rip out our master bedroom bathroom, I exposed a wall down to the studs and found more old Romex. The cable was live, I pulled back on it and found it had been cut up in the ceiling. I had to crawl under the house to find the junction box the other end of the wire was connected to. The new Romex wired by the company had been hooked up the old braided 2 wire Romex, with the ground wire curled up inside the junction box. Of course I disconnected the old Romex and removed it, this originally the task agreed to and supposedly undertaken by the company. This company's practices must be investigated, I am quite capable of remedying any of their malpractices caused by resultant laziness but there are consumers out there who rely completely upon these companies and are being ripped off and their lives exposed to personal injury or worse. How many more homes are literally time bombs set by this company. My advice to anyone who has engaged this company in the past is to have a professional electrician check over any of their activities. This company's complacency and arrogance is staggering and is borne out of laziness and the blatant flaunting of practice codes laid down, by law, to protect the trusting consumer.

Not impossible....And then to put the unit next to my dryer vent ... which voids the warrenty. Sloppy work. Didn't care. Expose wires. And don't want to do anything about it. I wouldn't recommend squires to anyone if you need work done ... go to someone else. Not only that but lie on the invoice about the work they did... which was read off to me and They refuse to give me the invoice. The cost was 8750. If you want the job done correctly.... Go somewhere else. Very bad business. They won't even make it right. Small claims court is the only option I was given.
