Experiences at summer camp can be pivotal and extremely formative for young children and teens alike. I spent many a summers in New Glasgow at this amazing, historic summer camp, run by the YMCA, and moreover, dedicated, caring individuals.
Big Cove is a treasure. It resides on a huge chunk of land, with tons of forest and ocean scape. There are so many activities to do, that summer days just slip away in a haze of high ropes, archery, swimming and games. Depending on age range, campers go on varying lengths of out-trips, where they learn how to rough it in the woods, either hiking to a destination or paddling in canoes.
There is so much spirit and love at this camp, that it warms my heart recalling memories of campfires, lantern time chats, dancing to cassettes on repeat, and chasing after boys in the field.
If you're looking for a wonderful place to send your kids in the summer, look no further than this amazing camp. If you're looking for a great place to work as a counselor, this is it! Everyone who gets involved with Big Cove, either as a camper or employee, will no doubt have a lot of fun.
