Their produce is fresh and it isn't processed, cut and packaged like the produce at Albert Heijn. Furthermore, the store isn't super crazy like the Albert Heijn just around the corner - no super long lines with people trying to cut you. They have a great selection of baking ingredients - so much more natural than the stuff at Albert Heijn. Also, they make food daily in the store and it is delicious; the fresh lasagna is a bit expensive but oh sooooo yummy. There are a few drawbacks, which is why I cannot give it five stars. First, I find that I cannot ever do all of my shopping there - for example, they do not carry paper dinner napkins (weird, right?). I especially find that they lack some items in the produce area - they really only carry about one or two fresh herbs at a time (unlike the large selection at Albert Heijn), and you always have to purchase the whole herb plant. The other day I was in the store, and they weren't carrying limes (again, weird). Lastly, I have never been impressed with their meat selection, as it always looks picked-over and lacking in variety. Overall, a great place to shop, but do not plan on doing all of your shopping there.

I was staying nearby and couldn't wait to try it out, so how did it go... AMAZING! I was 3 days in Gent, I had brunch here twice! Says a lot, man, if I was a local I'd be regularly found hanging out here. Lovely seating out front though even in side, they've made great use the space and got a quirky mezzanine space. As a cafe, it's also a store where you can purchase some of the yummiest organic produce plus what appeared to be locally sourced produce. The back of the store, has dispensers with nuts, grains so you can buy by the weight which is so convenient! First day, I had the avocado and goats cheese sandwich and it was so delicious, I savoured every bite. On my second visit, I had the fruit granola; wish I could have brought some home with me but still had travelling to do. If I'm ever back in town, will be the first place I go to!

One of my favorite things to do in a new town or city is check out the local grocery store/supermarket, and this one, THIS ONE, with actual real-live vegan options, is like a dream. Granted, I don't know how to read Dutch, so most of the ingredients were a mystery to me, but I've gotten pretty familiar at spotting the Dutch words for 'milk' 'egg' and 'cheese', so I felt fairly confident. I also have a Rotterdam-born friend with me for last-ditch translation if needed. The variety of foods was overwhelming, in the best possible way! I found an excellent vegan mayonnaise (the mayo was for a potato salad, which turned out excellent and impressed all the picnic-going omnivores), bought a round of Cheesley Mozzarella, and picked up a tiny package of vegan bratwurst, just for fun. I was sorely tempted by the rest of the refrigerated section and naturally by the chocolate aisle--so many amazing looking vegan chocolate bars, including a white chocolate. Whaaaaat?! I would shop here quite frequently if I lived here. A great selection of organic food with a healthy vegan section. If you're traveling through, this is a great store to stock up on a few special vegan treats, and there's vegan/vegetarian cafe right next door if you're hungry.

I almost fell out when I saw that they had a long aisle of gluten-free foods. This market in Den Haag (De Hague) is my favorite market in the Netherlands. I was so happy to see a market that finally had a wider selection of Gluten free items. Most of the time when I go to the market the selection is very limited. I have been to several health food stores in the Netherlands and this store and location impressed me the most! They have stores located all over the Netherlands but I would say this is far most the best one in Den Haag. I think Ekoplaza in Den Haag is much more exceptional than the other locations in the Netherlands.They even promote the use of reusable grocery bags, which impressed me because it's a good environmental choice. I wish more stores would try this smart recycling method. You will also find that most of the regular super markets such as Albert Heijn, also sell a few Gluten-free items. However, my first choice would be to stop by Eko Plaza, plus the selection is much wider in Den Haag.

I find the cheese counter with free tasting quite impressive! There are also a lot of vegan cheese and meat substitutes at the fresh department (I am myself not a big fan of those substitutes considering the fact that they often contain a large amount of of unhealthy fats and are mainly soya-based). You can also purchase by weight nuts, dry fruits and other healthy snacks. Their chocolate department is also quite amazing! The fresh fruits and vegetables counter is a bit deceptive though, despite the choice, doesn't look very good from my point of view. You won't get a lot of help and advice in this store except in the cosmetics department on the first floor and of course at the cheese and deli counters. The prices are quite fair even money-worth for some products, mainly belgian and dutch one, but much less for other, let's say french one for example. Overall, a great organic shop with quite everything you're looking for.

It's pretty decent!…read more To begin with, was not clean on my visit. I really don't want to see cobwebs and dust by a deli counter, I really don't. This place is pretty okay for nonperishable "superfoods" - you literally can't walk three feet anywhere in the store without finding six different brands of quinoa. Definitely worth a stop if you're nearby and don't feel like ordering your organic shampoo or chia seeds online.
