When I want to work in the city library, I will generally go to the Bibliotheque du Boise which has more free parking available and is the newer of the two libraries in Saint Laurent. Because that library is newer, it generally has more people, books, etc. The parking situation in this library is the same from when I last visited. The parking spots available behind the library are paid parking spots and there is street parking available in front of the library which accommodates about 9 cars. Inside this library, they have modernized it somewhat. Their tables have free USB charging stations for devices and each table also has a standard electrical outlet to plug in your device (ex: laptop). The WiFi no longer requires a password to log in (at least I didn't require one when I accessed it). Everything is pretty much the same as during my last visit a few years ago except for the updated furnishings. My only issue with this library is the parking situation. The back of this library used to be free parking for a few hours and now you have to pay to park in the back of the library before 5pm (after 5pm, it is free but the library generally closes at 7pm).

The librarians are friendly and knowledgeable. There were quite a few books in the subject I was looking for but I can't speak for their whole collection.

This library is the heart of Montreal West! The staff are super helpful and nice. They always have…read morenew books worth checking out. Not of lot of comfy seating, but it's still a really nice place to stop for a while. It's cozy and generally quiet. Like, it is waaaay quieter than Benny Library. So if you live in West NDG, it could be worth going to MoWest if you want a more peaceful place to pick up a book. They also have computers that you can use for free. Good section for young adults, including a lot of graphic novels that are awesome for adults both young and old. They have other stuff you wouldn't expect, like Board Games. Lots of good activities happen there, often free or very low cost. If you live in the area, you should get on their mailing list.

I don't usually go to the Concordia library because: -It's always crowded -The wifi is very unreliable -You can't easily plug in your electronics from all areas of the library -The private study areas at the MB building are nicer But despite that, it's a very beautiful library. Very modern and clean (except during midterms and finals) Sometimes I have long breaks in between classes so I take a seat and wait it out. I love the fact that it's open all the time but I think security should tighten up a bit because we often have non-students loitering around. I have used the Benny library many times since its opening…read more I always find an appropriate library setting and helpful staff. Many local citizens seem to use it but though busy it s not noisy at all. I once had a poetry reading there in English which was well attended and well situated. I intend to try another open to the public activity there soon. Frankly, it is a magnificent resource for the community. Anglophone, francophone, allophone, tout le monde est bienvenue. This new space is large, 2 storeys, very well-lit, so much so, that it can be uncomfortably warm when the sun is shining directly into the floor to ceiling windows. This is also a very family and kid friendly library, with study rooms, a virtual reality room, and one half of the second floor reserved for them, too bad they won't stay there; the racket can be very irksome indeed! Always a great selection of new books, and computers,on the main floor,computers and stacks on second, where abovementioned kids' space, virtual reality and study rooms are located. On main floor,there is a large area complete with microwave, to reheat your lunch or dinner, with tables and chairs to sit and eat, no food on laps here;facing the dining area, are nice upholstered couches to sit,relax and chat, or wait for the Maison de la Culture( located upstairs) doors to open for a show, (tix a must), an art gallery is next door to the lounge/dining area. There are various workshops,free to the general public, given throughout the year, reservations required. Great place.

Located inside a park, with huge shady trees and benches in the front, and a children's playground and tennis courts in the back, this is a great place to pick up DVD films, books, audio books, or lounge around in and catch up reading back issues of "Vanity Fair", "Utne Reader" or dozens of other monthly magazines they receive. The collection they actually hold is rather small but get on the online "Nelligan" catalog system and suddenly all the holdings for the city of Montreal are suddenly at your fingertips. It's easy as pie to reserve titles from other libraries and them pick them up at a location most convenient to you. The entrance way is a bit of an art gallery and the exhibitions from local artists change quite frequently which is always interesting. Another great Verdun spot!
