After joining OCH, I fell in love with the school and the care the teachers provide my kids. OCH is a smaller center and the teacher to student ratios are small which really allows the teachers to give the kids the love and attention they need throughout the day to feel welcome and regulated. OCH was recently re-certified as a 5 star center which goes beyond what I thought a daycare could provide! I love to see the creative way they teach the kids the weekly topics vs. worksheets or teacher curated crafts. They learn through play and the teachers work on social emotional learning and helping the kids learn how to regulate when they are upset. Additionally, it is a co-op daycare, meaning the parents have active involvement in the success of the school. We moved to the area in 2023, and I realized almost all of our friends are parents from the daycare. Listening to other parents talk yesterday about not having "mom friends," I mentioned all my mom friends are from our daycare and my friend replied: "that's because your daycare encourages parents to get to know each other! Mine is just drop him off, see you later." She's right - we have monthly get togethers with the other parents and kids and it's a great way to make new parent friends, which can be so hard these days. All of that is to say, we love OCH and I wouldn't consider sending my kids elsewhere.

Clark Family Be aware of hidden policies at this facility…read more My son contracted foot & mouth from this location because their policy is for your child to clean the bathroom if they have an accident when using the bathroom. I have a 4 year old son that doesn't have perfect aim when urinating. Sometimes his urine hits the back of the toilet & the floor near the back of the toilette. Upon picking up my son, his socks (he was still wearing them) were soaked in urine. One of the owners stated that he had to clean the restroom because he urinated on the floor. My son later explains that he cleaned the floor, toilet, and wall area. During his cleaning spree he came in contact with someone else's bowel movement. If this was just his urine he was cleaning, I probably wouldn't have a problem with it. But it's a bathroom & there was no guarantee that it's only his urine that he's cleaning. Shortly thereafter I have to take him to his pediatrician & he's diagnosed with foot & mouth. I called Stay n Play & asked for at least one of the owners to call me & I never got a reply. I let the situation go & simply decided not to let my kids use their facilities again. This situation occurred over the summer 2017. This November 2017 I got an email about their sale on childcare hours. On 11/22/17 I simply replied, "Unsubscribe, we will not be using your services." I promptly got a phone call, less than 3 minutes from hitting the send button. The call was from the 2nd owner that was not present when my son cleaned their restroom. She wanted to know what occurred or happened, & proceeded to tell me she tried to call me back over the summer. She clearly knew I tried contacting her, & clearly had my number handy. To shorten this long story, there were 3 adults there that day & not one of them could spray a disinfectant & clean the bathroom up! I'm convinced that my son could have urinated at the back of the toilet but not convinced that he urinated at the front of it where he would be able to soak up urine in his socks. With that said, he was standing in some other kids urine & wore pee soaked socks for the duration of his stay! We'll never know because he's 4 & uses the restroom by himself. I wasn't there & staff wasn't in the restroom with him. The owner stated it's their policy & she has her own 4 year old to clean the bathroom when he misses. The phone call became very childish, she stated "I'm sorry your child pees on the floor." The conversation didn't end well, she started arguing with me & I still wonder why she ever called in the first place. Both owners know & practice this policy. In hindsight I should have contacted the health department & sent my child's medical bills & diagnosis.

As a new mom, it was really important to me to find a daycare that met all my expectations. Sure, I…read morehave high expectations, but they certainly aren't unreasonable and I'm sure any mom would agree. Little Mouse playhouse was the first place my husband and I toured. I had heard something good about it so off we went. It's tucked away beside the Target off Lawndale Rd. The daycare is an older style house made into a daycare center. As so, the driveway is as wide as a regular house driveway. This was an issue the moment we pulled in. Another car was leaving, and there's no where to pull to the side because of the wall or the dumpster. Since we couldn't back up into the middle of Lawndale, the other car backed up instead. We rounded the corner and parked in the lot, and then had no idea where to go. There was the main house and then a smaller building on the opposite side. I opted for the house and entered into the back door (or front door, not sure). I called out because I didn't see anyone but didn't get an answer. I walked through the house to a room full of kids. When I say full, I mean packed. It seemed like way too many kids for the room. I stood there for several minutes looking for someone before a teacher noticed me. She directed me to the other building. This was red flag #1. Anyone can walk in there and just walk into a classroom and no one noticed. When I walked out I met my husband outside who was looking up. Up at the roof. It looked like it hadn't been cleaned off in decades. There were bees flying around the entrance and frankly the area was not kept up. Ants were crawling all over the ground. Not exactly what you want to see when you know your child will be all over that ground soon. We walked to the smaller building where the younger kids were, though reluctantly at that point. Upon entering, a teacher was sitting in the classroom with a few children...and her boyfriend. Red flag #2. She pointed to the infant room a few feet away and the room had one of those doors where the top and bottom open and close independently of another. The top was open and I peer into the room briefly. The room was extremely clean and large. But what I noticed instead was a teacher sitting on a mat beside a baby doing tummy time. For those of you who don't know, tummy time should never be left unattended to, especially at younger stages. The teacher was a young lady with her cell phone in hand, scrolling through her Facebook. That did it for me. Even though we spoke to the other teacher in the room, who was professional and friendly, I had already made up my mind. I think it goes without saying we left and opted not to tour the rest of the rooms.

I have swam in the Bryan pool when I could not the the lines on the bottom and when I would witness a cloud dead skin churned up from the bottom of the pool. Even after showering, I would spend much of the day with an itchy back after having swam in the Bryan pool. The other issue that troubles me is the attitude of the Aquatics Staff. They are seldom supportive and they often find minor issues to complain about when there are swimmers who clearly should receive more of their attention. On one occasion I observed an autistic/homeless man who found it very relaxing to submerge himself in the hot tube. The lifeguards were so troubled by his behavior that four staff members finally physically removed him from the pool and arranged to drop him from Y membership. This could have been handled with a lot more compassion and concern.

When my son turned 2 and was placed in the young 2s classroom, things changed dramatically. First,…read morehe was transitioned a lot from one classroom to another and none of the teachers really seemed to know much about what was going on, nor were the teachers consistent. Every day I brought him in with a jacket, I had to go searching for it because no one seemed to know where it was even when I would put it in his cubby that had his name on it or hung it under his cubby! I also ran into issues with consistent communication. This place uses the tadpole app and watchmegrow for you to see what was served that day and monitor your child in the class, which was a big reason why I picked them. The problem is, some teachers will say what he ate during that meal and others will just say what was served. Same goes with bathroom breaks. Some will say he went to the potty and others won't. There's not a lot of detail on what exactly is going on with my child either. Another time my child was bitten by a child that had already bitten another kid previously and the teacher couldn't tell me what was being done and said that it was the parents fault. That's all good and fine but I want to know what you're going to do and what your policy is to make sure this won't happen again. Speaking of policy, there isn't a whole lot of available information there either other than a few forms they gave me when I first enrolled my son. My biggest concern and ultimately what has led me to look elsewhere is that I sent an email to corporate about all of my concerns and spoke on the phone with the director. The next time I had my son there, he took his pants and diaper off and peed on his shirt because he is going through potty training and the teacher couldn't find his pants! How do you not notice him removing his clothes and then you can't find his pants?! The director told me the ratio was 1 to 9 and that's a lot of kids for one person. I also didn't find out they were closed New Year's Eve until the day before and for someone that works, that makes it very difficult to try to find last min child care. I've tried to be patient and hope it gets better but I can't risk another bad incident where I'm placing my trust, child's safety, and hard earned money in a place that doesn't put my child first. I do not recommend this place to anyone when their child turns 2.
