I got my hair done by Kevin and it did not turn out right. His foil placements were lazy and he didn't bleach the full strand of hair leaving me with brown in the middle of blonde at some parts of my head. The blonde was also too yellow. The highlights were so chunky that I was embarrassed to leave my house. He said he couldn't blow dry my hair because his neck hurt. I left with a soaking wet head of hair. He was nice so I was sad it turned out this way. I was able to get a partial refund so that is good. If you are blonde I would not go to Kevin. read more

I had a fantastic experience getting my hair cut here with Eliana. I have thick, wavy hair and try to stick with the "curly girl" method to bring out whatever curls I can. I have been going to Beyond Beauty for over 4 years now and have always had great experiences! I get my hair colored and cut regulary by Gina, a senior stylist at BB. She is extremely talented, friendly, and always does an amazing job! I highly recommend her! BB specializes in Aveda products, which I love! They are a bit pricier but the return in quality makes it worth it. One limitation to the salon is it's size. It's small and the waiting/processing areas can be quite cramped. The flow of clients between the washing stations, nail service areas, and hair stations can be awkward at times. Also the one private room for wax services is extremely small. However the stylists are aware of the environmental limitations and do a great job promoting their client's comfort. Overall BB provides great salon services by very skilled, friendly, and professional stylists. read more

This place is pricey! I recently had my hair and makeup done for a wedding--and I should point out, I didn't have a fancy up-do but just a blowout--and my total bill was a whopping $144! That included a lip gloss (love the Aveda products), but wowza... Would've been a different story if I loved my hair or makeup, but I didn't. Makeup was okay minus my heavy Herman Muenster-like brows the makeup artist drew on, so I just touched it up myself afterwards. The staff at Beyond Beauty in Mashpee totally saved my wedding day!! I called in tears, actually sobbing, yesterday because I had gotten my hair done for my wedding somewhere else and hated it. I called BB in desperation for an eye brow wax and they fit me in the same day right before they were closing. I was wisked away upon entering the salon, which I thought would mean she would do a rushed job, but the esthetician took her time and cleaned up my cattepillar, bush-like, brows. We chatted about traveling and her family, while she gently ripped the hair out of my brows. She even took the time to trim them before applying calming cream and sending me on my way. Against what I thought was my better judgement I came back to beyond beauty because it is the only hair salon next to my families house in cape cod. I got a hair cut with Leeah and she did a fantastic job! I was honestly so nervous because of my last experience but when calling to book I made sure to ask for a young hair dresser who had really good customer satisfaction. The receptionist booked me with Leeah and apologized for my previous experience there. Leeah did a really nice hair cut on me. I asked for a long bob, keeping my length the same but with some very long and blended layers and she did a perfect job. I asked her to cut it so it would be low maintenance and three months later it's still looking good. I would just be cautious of who you get here depending on the hair job you are looking for because I had a bad experience my first time. I had an amazing and very relaxing spa pedicure yesterday. aveda products are a plus. the only negative is that the space is too small for all of the services they offer. Ugh - awful experience. The staff didn't know the prices of any of their services - the express pedi was horrible. They put your feet into a metal salad bowl type thing. Pedicurist Maria had the personality of a dead fish. After the "pedi" she disappeared only to re-appear when we were about to check out - clearly waiting for her tip. For the manicure - my cuticles were painted. nails were not even filed. I got a polish change, in about 3 minutes and it cost $13 (the cost of a full manicure in Boston). Do not think about going to this place- even if you just want a quick color change. They literally stole my money. I could have done a better job myself. I would never go back. read more

When I called the woman said that was their deluxe package and an "express" is $40. I told her he was not given any options and we wanted a refund. I would not recommend this salon. I made an appointment for a haircut, and was seen quickly by a stylist. I understood that the cut was going to be expensive. The haircut was a pleasant experience and the stylist was lovely, but the haircut was not quite right. During the haircut she let me know that she had not had any official Aveda training beyond representative salon visits. The reason I'm comfortable spending big bucks at Aveda salons is because of the Aveda training. I let her know my concerns about the cut (the layers were not short enough for my liking) during it. She understood and offered to fix it that day or have me come back. I elected to come back So I could see what the cut looked like styled as I normally styled it. Needless to say it did not look the way I wanted it to look, especially for a haircut that high priced. I went back the next day and I asked to see another stylist hoping that they might have Aveda training. This was when things got ugly. I understand that I might have offended them by asking to see another stylist, but I don't think that justifies the treatment I received by the next stylist. She washed my hair aggressively. Using her nails aggressively. It hurt. During the cut, when I let her know my concerns about shortening my layers she basically grabbed a chunk of hair and cut it bluntly. Half of my head looks like a mullet now. Ironically she did a fine job on the other side, but the first side is so bad that I can only assume that she cut it poorly on purpose. The touch up cut took all of 15 minutes after keeping me waiting for almost an hour and a half. I always go to Aveda salons first, but I will steer clear of this one from now on. read more

I went to get very subtle balayage like highlights here. I am a dark brunette and had virgin hair. I explained that I wanted just a lighter brown really to add a little dimension. I showed several pictures and my stylist seemed to believe she knew exactly what I was looking for. The result was a streaky yellow in my very dark hair. Some pieces were huge chunks of yellow while others small streaks. It looked absolutely ridiculous and nothing like what I asked for. I was devastated. They explained to me they would fix it for free the next day. The next stylist I went to explained to me that semi permanent dye works as permanent dye under my circumstances. I believed her and now three shampoos later my streaky hair is already showing through and I have to pay to get it done AGAIN. Needless to say I was lied to and had an awful experience. Do not get your hair dyed here. Ps: I got a haircut as well and she took maybe 7 minutes max to do that payed no attention to the finer details of a haircut. read more

I had a shellac manicure and pedicure. The customer service was fine. I was disappointed with the shellac polish. It looked sloppy; the sides of the nails weren't painted and the cuticles had paint on them. I called a couple days later and was scheduled a redo in Hyannis. The manager was very nice. The technician this time at least pushed back my cuticles which the other tech did not. After 2 coats I pointed out there were some parts with out paint and she apologized and did another coat. The end result was better but my nails still do not look professionally done. My pedicure was the same, cuticles were not treated and dead skin was not removed from bottom of feet. Also they do not have typical massage chairs to sit in with tubs below, there are just chairs with metal buckets that you put your feet into. Being short and having bad knees, it was very uncomfortable. Maybe their techs just aren't trained enough. Customer service was great though. read more

BUYERS BEWARE, Their prices have almost doubled since the last time that I was there and they don't make you aware of that until you pay. Their policy is that their stylist can work with three people at the same time. As a result my stylist didn't even time my color or ever check to see how I was processing. I was left in the waiting room (which is also the room that the wash clients hair) for an hour and no one checked me. My hair highlights were so abnormally white and the answer was more chemicals in my hair. I had to get it toned down twice to put color back into the white in my hair. I was in schock, I think because I was in the salon for 3 hours and my hair looked like a botched job and I had to pay $185 for a color root touch up and a "few foils" which turned out to cost an extra $80. They called it a partial. I can't even wash my hair now, it falls out in clumps. When I called back to question the price they just told me it went up and the manager was so rude and wouldnt take any responsibility and dumped it all on me. The only thing they would do is have me come back and let them put more chemicals in my hair and I don't even live at the cape so that was impossible. Even on Newbury Street, where they work with one client at a time, they don't charge these prices! Maybe they should take the extra money they are getting and hire more people or go to a bigger space and not let one stylist work with 3 clients at a time. Who should pay more, for less??? Not me. I will not ever return to this place again. read more
