I've watched this show twice now and I always leave being so inspired. A few of my friends are a big part of this production and I really appreciate the way they use dance to express such a difficult story to tell. Definitely a must-watch! I have such a great time watching everyone move and story-tell with or first language: body language. read more

Hands down best show I've ever watched and it's only been up to intermission Recommend to anyone and everyone 100%

The story they're able to tell from dance is truly amazing. I was impressed by the ways they engaged the audience, this is a must see show!!! read more

Beyond Babel gave an amazing show! The dancers did a great job of making the audience feel all the emotions of the messages behind the show. It was far beyond my expectations, that I am going to a second performance! read more

You already know that Keone and Mari are great experienced, but can they actually perform high energy dance for 2 hours straight? Can they fill a full length show without acting? Can they create deep characters without words? They do. read more

SO GOOD. Chills. 10/10 would recommend. I came with my dance team- we are huge Keone and Mari fans!! Beyond Babel is a one of a kind show and I would definitely watch again. read more

This is my first yelp review but I can't resist raving about these world class dancers and the stunning work of art they have created..I want to come back in my next life as one of them! I have seen the show 4 ( YES 4) times. I was there when Beyond Babel first opened and came home that night so electrified, I had to get on the computer to buy more tickets to take people. Would have loved to meet Keone and Mari at one of the meet and greets but felt shy since I was so emotional at the end of the show... every time! If you are reading this and have a chance to see the show, GO. JUST GO. It is the most powerful, relevant, joyous and intimate dance performance you will ever experience. So proud it was created in San Diego. Thank you guys.. I could see this 10 more times in a heartbeat. read more

I've been meaning to go but was not able to until tonight and what an amazing show! I was super blown away by everything, from the casts to the production value!!! Would def recommend!!! read more

Terrific show! Amazing dancing tells the story of Romeo and Juliet with incredible emotion! A MUST see!

This show is beyond amazing and beyond description. It is an honor and a privilege to witness such greatness live. The show captivated audience even before the stage was open and didn't let us free until the very end. The emotions, laughs, tears, cheers - you should experience it live. Don't miss the chance to dive deep into this incredible story of each of us. read more

Broke 100 mph to make it to this show on time and must say: DEF WORTH IT. Keone, Mari, and co have produced a theatrical experience I've never enjoyed so much before. Without dialogue, I've found more meaning and felt more emotion than I have for pretty much any piece of media and it's only intermission right now! The venue is intimate and definitely recommend getting balcony seats as it will allow you to see more of the stage. Also, be sure to bring your cheers. Luckily this show keeps dance community energy alive be encouraging crowd interaction, making this something to be experienced not just to watch. Thank you so much to whoever worked on this for bringing this to the world. Can not recommend enough! read more

A MUST See! The talent is explosive, the choreography... powerful, poetic and passionate. The storyline is timely and timeless! The back drop is simple yet elegant. There is no doubt this team chose their dancers wisely, train like crazy, believe deeply in their calling and as a result they radiate the kind of team chemistry that begets World Champions. BRAVO! read more

This was an absolutely awesome experience!! Would definitely see more shows here. Love the people and the facility and especially the show. read more

This show was a whole new experience! The depth and amount of story told all through dance and movement was so incredible. I cried and was inspired. I love it !! you don't have to miss it!! , great choreography, the dancers express every beat on the music , they put they hearts and passion in every dance move , congratulations to Keone & Mari and all the team for create one of the best shows I had ever seen. read more

The storyline was played out perfectly! The way Keone Madrid and Mariel Madrid have worked to create such an amazing piece of art, and I say art because it truly was art, is a inspiration and eye opening experience to say the least. The dancers they have on the production are each amazing in their own way! Each brining a little piece of their own dance upbringing to the stage and working all as one to create something beautiful. Your emotions will be taken on a roller coaster as they go throughout the entire performance. The space they have to create this masterpiece in fits so perfect and has been converted into a great room for their production. Any seat you pick is perfect and you can't go wrong! It won't be long till i'm back for another viewing. From the second they start the show all the way to the last bow they had my full attention, thanks again to Hesham Hemmat and Brandy Espi for taking care of me and inviting me to the show. read more

This is a definite must see! Such power talent and dance poetry" No words to describe how moving and deeply felt this show is! Please go see it!! read more

This was one of the best dance productions I have ever seen and I have been involved in performing and observing dance for 20 years! From the cast of dancers, Keone and Mari's genius choreography, the sets and costumes, lighting, and venue, I was captivated from start to finish. I felt so involved in the story and the choreography and was transported into the world of the performance. I went on a Sunday matinee and can't wait to go back again with more people. This is a show not to miss. Whether you are a dancer yourself or a supporter and enthusiast of dance, you will enjoy this show and will want to come back to experience it again and again! read more

Already half way through I was filled with emotions that I couldnt even begin to explain. So much compacted into one show that I just want to keep watching more and more. I am now totally bummed out that I missed season 1 of this show but SO grateful that I was able to catch season 2. I will MOST DEFINENTLY attend one more time before it ends. There needs to be more shows like this in San Diego. Great job to Keone, Mari, and the whole cast. Such an inspiration and makes me want to train and dance more haha. I hope season 3 coming soon ;) 10/10 highly recommend! read more

Such a good show, the dancers are amazing & it's truly unique to any dance show I've been to. A can't miss show!

Beyond Babel is so amazing. The choreography and the music blend so well together and the dancers are on their own level. The whole production was so well put together from the lighting to the dancers to the story. read more

The dancers in this show put so much effort into the storyline and they make you feel all sorts of emotions! It's so impressive because they are dancing for almost 2 hours straight with only a 20 minute break. The storyline is amazing; it really conveys the social issues we are experiencing. The choreography is extremely impressive; I would have loved to see this show more than once! Thank you for putting this on for us :) read more

One of the greatest shows I've seen. Ive always watched Keone and Mari online but to see them in person is such an inspiration. All of the cast definitely connect well together to make an excellent show. If you have time come down and see it before it ends. read more

The intimate theater was the perfect medium to deliver such a captivating and movie show. From the music to the movements, everything was artistically stunning. The dancers performed with such vigor and athleticism, you are just in awe. To show that I'm not completely biased I do have some critiques. Sitting in the balcony, the chairs were a bit slippery, often having to reposition myself just to stay on. Similarly, there were two rows and I felt bad for the row behind me who were in the same chairs. Now I am not very tall, but as someone who isn't, I would have had a tough experience viewing such a great show. Still overall, it is great that this experience was gifted to San Diego by two of its truly genius artists. I bought merchandise not only because it was cool, but also as a momentous to encapsulate this great memory they created for me. To everyone involved in this production: Thank you so much! read more

AMAZING SHOW! This was my second time watching and my second time being appalled by the incredible choreography, cast, and set. There is always something to capture your interest and i 100% recommend coming! read more

Anything you're about to read won't even compare to seeing this in person. I have been following Keone and Mari Madrid for a while now through social media and the work, energy and dance to put this show together is absolutely amazing! I'm a dancer myself and appreciate the movement and find the show to keep you on the edge of your seat the whole time. read more

This show is absolutely amazing!! It has spectacular dancing, drama, and music. This is a must see show!!

A twist on Romeo & Juliet with a strong nod to contemporary issues of immigration and the walls that divide us, it's an electrifying performance from start to finish. The dynamic set design makes for an exciting experience as an audience member: it quite literally moves you to pan in and out of the story's plot. The choreography and performances were superb. This dance ensemble was able to pump the audience up and crash us back to earth. There were some really tender duets, as well. It's a treat to see such a high-quality, original dance performance like this in San Diego. It's a must see. Buy tickets to Beyond Babel before it's too late! read more

So many words so many emotions truly a heart touching experience! Took me on a journey of growth and love and loss. In love

San Diego is energizing the art scene of San Diego. Beyond Babel is the show that will make San Diegans proud. If you're looking for a show that keeps you entertained and at the edge of your seat, this is definitely something you need to attend. The cast members are extremely welcoming and the staff is very accommodating towards your needs. I will definitely be coming back for multiple showings before they finish their showings. Thank you to the people behind Beyond Babel for giving myself and others an experience of a lifetime! read more

Such a magnificent show! Powerful, beautiful and meaningful. Kudos to Keone and Mari and all the brilliant dancers in the cast. If you love dance and live in Southern California, you simply cannot miss this piece. There were several times I wanted to jump up and applaud (but figured the people behind me wouldn't appreciate that). My 14 year old daughter and I were way inspired by Keone's and Mari's choreography - they are master story tellers. We haven't stopped talking about Beyond Babel and are listening the playlist on Spotify :) Thank you for creating this piece in San Diego - we want more like this!!! read more

We went to watch Beyond Babel twice last month. I still can't fully describe how I felt at the end of the show. Life is complicated and human emotions are complex but Keone and Mari along with a handful of dancers were able to capture life's beauty and messiness all at once and all through dance. In the generation with so much mass production of content without true purpose other than self serving this show is utterly refreshing to say the least. Dance is a way to express and communicate when words are simply not enough and it has been this way since the cavemen and cavewomen told their stories around the fire. Thanks to Keone and Mari for reminding us all the timeless essence of the art. Go watch this show. It's good for the soul. www.beyondbabelshow.com read more

If you love dance (and watch shows like World of Dance & So You Think You Can Dance) you must come see this show. It is a lifetime high to be in the midst of this live dance opera with such professional dancers and choreography surrounding you. It honestly made me cry with joy it was so moving. The theater is small (130 seats) so you are part of the show and can see each dancer clearly. The music and energy just envelops you. The story-line is wonderfully timeless and current at the same time. I am going back to see it again even though it is an hour drive each way because it is such an extraordinary event. You will be delighted and overwhelmed with the experience. This is professional level theater here in San Diego. Do not miss it. read more

Beyond Babel is beyond any live dance performance I've ever had the pleasure to experience. The entire cast are people of color telling a powerful story of love, separation, needs, humanity and inequity of justice and power through pure magnifying movement. This show is a must see.... seriously! Go! SEE! IT!! This show needs to go worldwide! read more

I cannot find the words to adequately express how good this show truly is. Keone & Mari have created a piece so full of life and love that it is palpable in the theater. The cast is insanely talented, and K & M's signature style of intricate movement, honest, heartfelt performance, and a dash of goofy humor really shine through every moment of the show. I laughed, I cried, I danced in my seat. The message is so needed for the world today, and that goes double for border towns like San Diego. Whether you're a fan of dance or just want to spend a night with people passionate about creating a better world, you cannot go wrong with Beyond Babel. It will leave your soul feeling so full and ready to go out and keep fighting the good fight. Mad love & a huge congrats to all involved! read more
