It was a very fun, and free activity! Though, normally they run after school programs and in school programs, along with offering some programs for adults. Sometimes, you just gotta relax and do some art...do one and you shall achieve the other. No feelings like you have to be the next Van Gogh or anything, just do your own thing. S'all good.

The professors are very friendly and helpful. The staff is friendly as well, but the hidden fees and charges are outrageous. I WAS INFORMED of ONLY 3 OUT OF 5 loans through this college. I signed for and agreed to the repayment terms of only THREE OUT OF FIVE LOANS. Because they did not inform me of the other 2 loans, they went into default after 90 days. Soon the company Aidvantage reached out to me and said my loans through them were in default BECAUSE THE COLLEGE DID NOT TELL ME ABOUT THEM. I had a credit score of 715, and then that happened and now it is only 583. Because of NMC, I will not be able to get a loan of any kind out for 7 years. Don't go to this college if you want your financial situation to stay in tact. Unless your parents are super rich and are paying for your college, DON'T DO IT. In addition, the parking is bad and the cafeteria food is not edible.

If not for that experience, I would give NMC 5 stars, it is an outstanding community college. A wide variety of courses and curriculum. Another big plus is how easy it is to walk the main campus. The CIT and Art departments have some exceptional professors as well.

My son needed to cram for the SAT. Sylvan set up a diagnostic test right away. The next day the…read moredirector met with us to evaluate the best way to maximize his scores. He needed social studies type reading comprehension and certain areas of math. We requested days, times, and number of hours - they made it all work for us. My son had already been through an SAT prep class (not through Sylvan) that did absolutely nothing for him. After my son worked with the director for two hours on reading comp, he went from consistently missing ten in reading to missing only five. His math practice tests grew stronger and stronger. On the actual test, my son raised his scores over 200 points from the PSAT. We never dreamed he could score as high as he did in math. He said there was not a math problem he couldn't solve and could have gotten a perfect SAT, but for the time constraint. He takes the test again this week, and is practicing more with time. No doubt, the help from Sylvan will show up even more after this round. To my son, the wonderful atmosphere at Sylvan made him want to try harder. He particularly noticed how nice everyone was - from the initial test proctor to the tutor himself.

Apparently these instructors are not taught how to truly teach, nor are they taught how to use a variety of teaching methods. Also, the administration has limited ideas for how to help sustain students' discipline and attention during the sessions. These courses are very expensive, and I expected a much higher level of instruction and administration.
