We had had a few people rave about this bar, but I am not entirely sure why. Unlike most Wellington bars which are small and intimate, this is a giant cavernous space over two levels - including a rooftop area which is (sensibly) closed in from the elements given Wellington's climate. The bar sells itself as a craft beer bar and has a focus on Southern American slow cooked meats. The decor reflects the American theme but seems a bit poorly thought out - it's a bit of a mishmash and seems to incorporate every element of American pop culture over the last 40 years. When we were there, the place seemed quite empty and the music choices were again, a bit poorly thought out - jumping from Cher to Guns & Roses and then a bit of Nirvana. The whole place seemed a bit generic and the sort of place you go with a large group and couldn't fit in anywhere else. The problem with these sorts of bars is that they're dime a dozen in most cities. Overall, rather disappointing. Good range of beers though. read more
