You & I & everyone has sinned & done evil and the punishment for that is Hell forever but, God didn't want that so Jesus who is God (God is a trinity, meaning he is three in one also known as three 'persons' in one being named God. The Father, The Son/Jesus, and The Holy Spirit are equally God, but they are different but equally the same being It's why God is called a trinity because he is triune.) Jesus came to earth as a human man and lived a perfect life, and he did many different kinds of miracles and the leaders hated him, and they wanted him killed, so they took him and killed by nailing him to a cross and letting him die but, he rose three days later from the dead and when he did this he took your punishment of Gods wrath and paid your price on the cross, and he made a way for you to be saved from paying your evil deeds yourself and Jesus says if you place your faith in him alone as your personal savior he will save you. You can't earn salvation because you already don't deserve it and we deserve hell, but Jesus died for your sins and if you trust him alone as your savior he will save you.

As late as 1838, it served this double purpose. Today it is the home and central building of the largest Congregational church in New England. George Washington worshiped in the Meetinghouse on May 20, 1781, while in town to confer with Rochambeau to plan what proved to be the final phase of the American Revolution--the Battle of Yorktown. John Adams visited the Meetinghouse and climbed the ladder in the bell tower to peer through the lantern windows where he beheld, in his words, "the most grand and beautiful Prospect in the World." The Meetinghouse is a model of Congregational or Puritan architecture, with its high, central pulpit, its clear glass windows and its simple, chaste lines. Its simplicity went undisturbed until the 1800s, when a series of alterations gave it a more Gothic appearance. The changes included the removal of the pulpit and the box pews. In 1973, through the generous bequest of Jane Robbins Dunham, the Meetinghouse was magnificently restored to its original character and beauty. The original pulpit was returned. Clear glass was reinstalled. Box and slip pews were put in place. The advantages of modern recessed lighting and air conditioning were also introduced. The bell tower is a showpiece, similar in design to that of Old North Church in Boston. While largely unchanged through the years, it required restoration in 1979-1980, at which time the authentic fan-design windows were installed. In the evening, the lighted spire shines as a beacon of hope and faith, viewable for miles around.

There is a receptionist when you walk in that will help you get where you going. I was directed to the basement that is a little dank but from what I can see the place is used for events and seeinf a kitchen it could be a dinner or lunch done here. I was blown away by the bathroom. That is much different than the basement but the first floor is beautiful. I saw on the TV there are events like yoga and the blood drive I'm here for. Old Wethersfield has gems just like this.

Hey everyone. First a little bit of my background when it comes to my spiritual beliefs and my…read more relationship with God. As a very young kid, (five years old to be exact) my mom remarried to my step dad. He was and assuming still is an athiest. Basically you either believed what he believed in all aspects of life or you keep your mouth shut. My mom and I learned that very quickly. It was not the best of situations as a child, mother or a wife. They remained married until I turned 18 , then got divorced. The healing process for me and my mom immediately began..... So I have always wanted to go to church because even though I went through so much pain and with my family situation as a kid I never lost faith. I had my private relationship with God and truly believed and know now that is what got me though..... Gods Love... Now let's talk about the present..... I've been wanting to go to church for so long but just was afraid I guess to just go in not knowing what to expect, what you have to do, how to do it, where you should sit, even wondering how people would accept me at their church..... A few months ago I was out with a friend and we ended up having a deep long conversation about God and both our beliefs. It was a few hours long and it felt like 20 minutes lol. Towards the end of our talk she said to me that if I would like and felt ready that I could go to her church one Sunday and she would kinda show me the ropes and be there for me if needed . That church is the South Congregational First Baptist church in New Britian. Two Sundays later I went to this church very nervous but knowing my friend would be by my side was excited and very ready! My first experience was aaamazing. The service was so beautiful. Everyone I met not only accepted me but talked to me in coffee hour after the service and I immediately felt loved and welcome. I cannot say enough wonderful things about Pastor Jane. She not only welcomed me with the most amazing smile but listened to my story and will be helping me get baptized at some point in the near future! Her sermons are so beautiful and sometimes very unique which I'm sure everyone will agree it's what makes her so good at delivering Gods Message.... The church welcomes all. Anyone who wants to come can come. They have bible studies which I am currently doing and learning so much. Great discussions. They have get aways for great causes. Miranda, the friend I told you about, recently planned a very fun and successful trip to the science center. She is also the teacher for the Sunday school there and does such an amazing job with the kids. They recently had a holy surprise for everyone a few Sundays ago. It was beautiful! I know there has to be so so many beautiful churches out there, but I can only tell you about this one cause it's all I know. I can't see how anyone could go wrong with at least trying something. If you are thinking about going to a new church or trying a different one, maybe like me, going for your first time, I highly suggest you give this church a try. I have been there around 3 months now and can't even imagine going anywhere else. I look forward to every Sunday now. Thanks for reading my story and my journey!
