I called her office three times with even more questions, and she always returned my calls promptly and patiently answered everything. Her nurse, Joyce, was also great. When I finally decided to have a hysterectomy, she invited me back in for a consultation visit and offered me the names of two other physicians in other practices for a second opinion. I got a second opinion, but chose to have the procedure done by her. I'm so glad I did. My surgery and recovery went very well, with surprisingly little pain. I think she deserves much of the credit for that. In fact, the day after my surgery, when I mentioned how little pain I had to one of the hospital's nurses, she told me, "your surgeon has gentle hands." This doctor is terrific. I can't recommend her highly enough.

My pregnancy was high risk and he took such good care of me and my baby. He sent me to be induced on Thursday, and checked on me after he got off work. I didn't have my daughter till Sunday morning, but he was trying to avoid a C-section (which I appreciate). When I was in active labor, I asked the nurse if they could used forceps or the vacuum because my contractions were going on for almost 4 days and I was so tired. Dr. Agress came in the delivery room and saw that I was exhausted and he knew that I needed help. He allowed the vaccuum and he stayed to stitch me up instead of leaving it to a resident (I wouldn't have cared) but my point is that he really cared. He monitered my baby and allowed me to stay with her for another week in the hospital since she had jaundice. When I went to see him for my yearly check up, he listened to my questions and answered patiently.He is about doing things naturally and safe. He really cares and I will forever be thankful for him. I hope that he can deliver all of my children. I had my daughter 3 years ago and still believe that he saved our lives since this pregnancy was high risk.

I made embryos at nearly 40 years old in 2019, had a successful transfer in Sept 2021 (after a break between making embryos and transfer to get married!), and delivered my perfect healthy baby girl in June 2022 after an amazing 41 weeks of pregnancy and just after my 43rd birthday. I cannot say enough about this clinic but this result is truly because I found them... they are caring, smart, clever, diligent, honest, hardworking and just all around some of my favorite people in the world. Jo, Dr, Johnson's right hand (he will tell you this!) answered my emails morning, noon, and night every day of the week whenever I needed her. I actually looked forward to my appointments just so I could see and talk with her! Dr. Johnson is, of course, a talented fertility doc, but also absolutely hilarious... he will take an emotionally challenging situation and still bring a smile to your face. Dr. Rehman is also wonderful and always makes you feel cared for and important to the clinic and their success. And let's not forget Julie at the front desk, who always welcomed me with a warm smile; she will make you feel welcomed and not like just another patient or statistic. As prior patients with CCRM, we anticipated similar care with Overlake, that was not the case. I'm shocked CCRM agreed to let Overlake dilute their brand. Overlake has their own protocols that are DIFFERENT than CCRM, and are not aligned with the standard of care for IVF treatment. Overlake failed to administer a standard medication leading up to one of our attempts, and even after repeated discussions did not admit to the omission. Fertility can be confusing, and it is our experience that fertility clinics may lack the best bedside manner, however a clinic cannot be both challenging to communicate with AND be inattentive to the details of such a precise endeavor. If you are considering Overlake based on their association with CCRM, I would caution to reevaluate.

After ample research online I chose open adoption and family, because of their willingness to give equal opportunity to same sex and single parent applicants. I lived in Spokane at the time and traveled a good ways to work with OA&FS. The counselors there were very accommodating and did a lot to make me feel comfortable. As I got closer to my delivery they actually came to Spokane to meet with me so I did not have to travel so far. Submitting my needs for expenses to be compensated was easy and they made sure I was taken care of. It was very hard for me to accept help from the agency, especially at such a delicate time in my life, but they did not attach any shame to this for me. I really needed that at such a delicate time in my life. I loved the letters and profiles they provided to me which made it simple picking a family. I also have loved the connection I have built over the last three years with my chosen adoptive family. I know my son was placed in the very best circumstances because of the diligent work and screening of OA&FS. The follow up counseling and other services they have provided me have been amazing. I never intent to find myself, again, in such a delicate place but if I did I would only accept OA&FS as an option for placing my child. They let me make the choice on who would raise my boy and simple facilitated it.

So far everything that I've come to her for has dramatically improved. She has 3 masters degrees--one in acupuncture and another in Chinese herbs-so she really knows what she's doing with the herbs. I guess a lot of acupuncturists only study herbs in their acupuncture program and can only give the standard formulas, but since she did the masters program she can make formulas specifically for you. The main downside to having a doula is the cost, but Ryah's excellent coaching and support was worth every penny. Also, we were able to offset the cost by not taking the typical birthing classes since we'd be getting two 60-90 minute one-on-one coaching sessions prior to the birth. Ryah also recommended several books that we read together and the combo of her education plus the books was plenty for us. Ryah was supportive, well-informed about evidence-based birthing options, and hands-on. I was unsure whether I wanted an unmedicated birth, and Ryah was supportive of either option. She was clear that she thought I was completely capable of doing an unmedicated birth, which gave me confidence to try. She was also helpful in having me think through the scenarios when I'd want to request an epidural, which we outlined in my birthing "preferences" form. I'd done reading on evidence-based choices for birthing interventions and options (mostly reading the Evidence-based Birth website and Expecting Better). When creating our birthing preferences, Ryah was always spot-on with the research when helping us to weigh options. She even brought us a homemade pastry during one visit, which was so thoughtful. Our daughter arrived 10 days early (July 2019), and I was unsure about whether I was experiencing Braxton Hicks or actual labor. After a few hours, my husband convinced me to text Ryah and she called back right away. She coached us to complete a few of the positioning moves we had practiced with her and asked us to call her back in 30 minutes. My contractions went from every 7-10 minutes to every 3 minutes within that time, so we knew it was real by that time (and woah those positioning moves work!). Ryah got to our house in about an hour and was the perfect blend of warm but also straight forward and directive when it came to suggesting positions and comfort measures. She was very calm and continually helped me to reframe any anxious thoughts and normalized everything we were experiencing. She knew that my mom had a quick birth, so took it seriously when she saw how quickly my labor was progressing. She had us leave for the hospital within 30 mins of her getting to our house, which was the right call because I was 7cm at check-in. She helped to coach the nursing staff on our birthing preferences and got me in the tub quickly. She was very hands-on and took turns providing counter pressure with my husband. She also seemed to know when to check me and had me out of the tub just in time to push. She was very supportive after the birth: our daughter had aspirated meconium and so my husband went with the baby to the special care nursery while Ryah stayed longer with me. She helped me to collect colostrum and stayed until I was able to stand up and go see my daughter. Ryah was very proactive in reaching out after the birth, which we appreciated. She came about 10 days after the birth to see us (we were in the NICU for a week) and did a nice assessment of how we were doing. She does take photos and videos during the labor and birth, and we're glad we have them. Overall, despite the stress of having a baby in the NICU for a week, we have very positive memories of the birth, and Ryah was a huge reason for this. We highly recommend her!

So I was due for a mammogram - overdue, really, considering I thought I'd had my first one two years ago, but it was really four years ago. Hmmm, time flies when you're not having your breasts squished. No problem. When you're going in for a routine mammo, you don't even need a referral. They really make it as easy as it could be. The appointment itself took 15 minutes and, really, the only sensation I can equate it to is that of accidentally rolling your boob up in the car window. Fortunately, it was over before I knew it. The technician was very friendly and even warmed her hands before, um, adjusting me. She was just talkative enough to make my minutes fly and get my mind off the task at hand. If you're overdue, go get it done! It could save your life!
