When I called to clarify, he became defensive and abruptly told me he no longer wanted to work with me--leaving me without support mid-treatment. He also brought up a previous prescription from another provider in a way that felt shaming and judgmental, which was especially upsetting given the stigma already surrounding these medications. When I became visibly upset and was crying on the phone, he showed no empathy or concern. Mental health patients deserve providers who can communicate clearly, offer compassion, and act with professionalism--especially in moments of vulnerability. I truly hope he can reflect on this experience, learn from it, and treat future patients with the respect and care they deserve.
