If you are heading…read morewest along I-10 to this hotel, it won't be that long after crossing time zones from Eastern to Central. My stay here was on the night of August 24, 2022. Getting to this hotel from I-10 was pretty easy and was easy to find as well. There was ample parking available when we got here, but if the hotel was busier, I think parking may be limited. After getting parked, I went inside to get checked in and get keys for the room and check out the room. The room is your standard room with two queen beds. We headed out to get some dinner before coming back. After getting back from eating, it was time to check out what the hotel had to offer. I started with the lobby area and main entrance. One thing of note was that as soon as you come into the lobby, they did have some type of scent in that area. I don't know if it was to mask something else, but it definitely set off my allergies and gave a low-grade headache, so I tried to limit time in this area. This lobby area has lots of seating there, along with the breakfast area. There is also an area for laundry. Before going outside, there is an exercise room available with various options. Then I made my way outside to check out the pool area. The pool is a nice size and looked good. Although most of the public use areas such as the exercise room, laundry, etc. would require the key card to gain access, this was not the case here on this visit. After checking out the grounds, it was time to get back to the room and start to settle in for the night. One thing that I did notice in the room that certain areas definitely show the age of the hotel, especially in the shower/tub area of the room (room 204). Also, I noticed in the rooms there were very few outlets and USB connections as well. That also lends to the age of the hotel. Another thing of note is that there was only a trash basket in the room. There was no separate recycling available. Now, for the sleeping and such. The beds were very comfortable. I had a really good night's sleep that night, as confirmed by my Fitbit as well. This is definitely an important aspect of a hotel, so this was really good. I was well rested the following morning. I went downstairs a little after 6 am when breakfast was available. Everything was already set up in there. Looking at the options though, on this experience, nothing really appealed to me. Everything was pretty much pre-packaged items. One was ham and the other was sausage, of which neither I am a fan of. I did end up getting some orange juice though and had something else later that morning when we were back on the road. Overall, the hotel covers the bases anyone would look for. The beds were good and there were several things available to do on the property. I was just still not a fan of the lobby area due to that scent they had going that set off allergies and a headache. When it comes to pricing, I know prices for everything have been going up, but I definitely felt that I paid for a suite, even though I only did a regular room with two beds. With limited options in the area, I will still consider coming here again if my travels warrant it.

There is fresh baked scones as well as beverages in the Frig.. We stayed in the Sadie's Room on the 1st floor which was nice. It was clean and relatively quiet. The breakfast was very good. Negatives: One of the things that is lacking in this B&B (and many other B&B's, hotels) is suitcase holders. The Hinson House seems to have only 2 for the entire B&B. Our room had only one but luckily we were the only guests that evening, so we were able to get the other one. The B&B is located on one of the main drags through town. Vehicles go by relatively fast and can be dangerous when pulling out if one doesn't exercise caution. It was a delight talking with David and Olivia. I just finished a 14 hour drive from Oklahoma and didn't come here expecting the Taj Mahal. A decent nights rest was all I needed, but I couldn't even get that. As soon as I walked through the room, a roach scurried across the bathroom wall. Not a great first sign. There were mystery orange stains all over the tub/shower. I booked a single king room, but got two smaller beds instead. One of the comforters had what looked like a large burn hole in it. The pillows were limp and provided no support. The bed was extremely uncomfortable, very rough and rigid. It was one of the worst beds I've tried to sleep in over all my years of traveling. To add insult to injury, there were several hairs all over the bed. Overall, the room also had a very musty odor. The A/C didn't work right. No matter what setting or temperature you set it at, it would just randomly turn off or on. The curtains didn't fully cover the window, so bright light started was shining in all night. I barely slept at all. I'm not sure what was up with the mini fridge. I opened it and it felt warm. There was a puddle of water in the small freezer section. I made the mistake of putting a beverage in there. Thinking it might get just cool enough to drink, it ended up freezing solid. User eThe only thing I could think of was maybe the fridge got defrosted before I arrived? The weird thing is I checked in at 12:30 a.m., so you'd think any defrosting would have been done by then. I expect better from Wyndham, even at a Super 8. I cannot recommend staying here. I actually felt bad giving them 1/5 stars. The was a steady drip in the tub, they must be spending a fortune on the water bill. The drip was a stream of water in the tub. I put a towel in the tub to soften the sound of the water.
