I've signed up to Yelp just to leave this review. Did a brilliant guitar setup for me then found me the perfect pair of studio monitors (Genelec 8081A) for recording in a small space with my Helix LT effects pedal. Store has a really chilled vibe - would recommend a trip whatever you are after. I genuinely look forward to going back.

PMT House of Rock is unfortunately-named to such a ridiculous degree that you have to wonder if it…read morewas set up by male music geeks of such stereotypical geekery that they had such limited knowledge of the female of the species as to happily settle on the name PMT without any knowledge of their folly. Oh well - at least it stands for 'Professional Music Technology', which is somewhat more relevant to the products on sale than the alternative. The shop is huuuge! And its layout allows it to display the products to almost terrifying peacock-like effect, due to its open-plan layout and central staircase leading to a balcony spanning the entire width of the shop. And due its size it was difficult to take in and remember the entire range of products but it really is extensive. Guitars, drums, keyboards and pianos are the focus of the instrument range with a huge variety of electric guitars, bases and acoustics and a balcony housing many a keyboard and piano. They sell a vast amount of equipment besides: mics, amps, effects pedals, recording equipment, speakers and everything in between. Prices are good, and they attempt to match any cheaper prices you have found, showing their commitment to value for money. Because of the vastness of this shop and the fact that it is a chain it lacks the character and charm of a smaller music shop and so feels rather impersonal, but this allows further freedom to browse and try things out, as there always seem to be plenty of other people doing so! And my, what a lot to try!

I'm currently renting a "baby" grand piano from Paul at Paregal Pianos. From the moment I first…read moremade contact the service has been superb. Paul is very friendly and knowledgeable. The piano was even re-polished prior to delivery! The piano arrived on time and the lads that delivered it took great care with it (and my house!). Plus all for a mere £50 a month. The contract was also easy to read. What more can I say? I have no hesitation in recommending Paregal to anyone looking to learn to play, or as in my case, re-learning after a 30 year break!

I chose paregal pianos for my daughter's piano as I couldn't afford the large initial outlay that it would have been for a piano of this type .Hire purchase at 0% over 3 years, is I think, a very accessible way for a lot of the population to obtain a beautiful 1920s- 1930s White baby grand piano! In terms of the hire purchase agreement- I was sent a copy clearly highlighting the terms and conditions of the agreement. It is very clear that I will have ownership of the piano after the 3yr term is completed. Until then, the piano is under the ownership of paregal pianos. This is fine with me and aftercare , including tuning, has been dealt with brilliantly by the team at paregal pianos. To summarise, a great , honest , helpful company. I would recommend to anyone.

But I wanted to support local business in this difficult time as it secures local jobs. I had contacted initially via email as I was working nights. Shaun was very helpful, honest about stock and wait times. No pressure at all given and listened to my needs. Very happy customer. I have returned to store again to purchase book and other bits and sales assistant was extremely helpful and helped me find what I needed. Fantastic service. Thank you

In 2007 The company was relocated in new premises 'Under the City Hall' and is now owned and managed by Hull's own Alan Kilvington who first joined 'Goughs' as a sales assistant in 1995. Al 'Kilvo' is an Americana piano player from Hull, Yorkshire England who plays with a style and verve described as that of the Killer - Jerry Lee Lewis - himself. Alan has recently teamed up with David Barton to produce the Two Pianos Show, selling out in UK theatres.
