A two hour car ride from the island's main airport, Daluyon is a beachfront property that's located on a small fishing village on Palawan's West side. While most backpackers and tourists head to El Nido or Coron, this has more of a local feel. Most of the staff call Daluyon home, not only because of its gorgeous surroundings, but also because they are from Palawan. And why wouldn't you stay here? you can wake up to the sounds of the waves lapping against the shore. All their accommodations are 2 story bungalows which felt private and luxurious. The wide balconies with rocking chairs was perfect for watching island wake up. You don't even need to leave the room until you're ready to eat breakfast since coffee and tea is provided. Speaking of food, you can take a short walk to town for super cheap lunches and dinners, but since we were treating ourselves (and the resort's food was so affordable anyway) we ate mostly at the restaurant. The food is top notch with sumptuous flavors and delicious dishes that's sure to satisfy every craving. If you're here on a weekend, take advantage of their very romantic dinner on the beach and pay the extra 300 pesos (about $6) for the set up. It felt like a scene straight out of the "Bachelor" and it was worth experiencing sand on your toes while you feed each other fried calamari :) If you're thinking staying at this quiet town will have you bored in two seconds flat, that's where you're wrong. Aside from the usual relaxing on the beach while reading Game of Thrones, the resort provides equipment to keep you physically engaged with nature: kayaks, scuba gear, snorkeling stuff, etc. When you get tired, head to the swim up bar and refresh with a Pina Colada. If the tropical heat gets to you and you prefer to be in the shade, order a "Halo-Halo", a typical Filipino dessert made with crushed ice, beans, tapioca balls, rice crispies, milk and ice cream. MMM! Aside from having the mountains as your backdrop and the beach at your disposal, the biggest plus of staying at Daluyon Resort is its close proximity to the UNESCO World Heritage site Puerto Princesa Underground River. It's only a 20 minute boat ride! that saved us precious time, especially since my schedule didn't allow for an extended stay on the island. The restaurant's breakfast and dinners were delicious. A taco night, who would have known. For breakfast, main dishes were changed daily giving you an opportunity to taste something new. Each night, a fire show capped off a wonderful evening. The accommodations were very good. The pillows and bed were vey comfortable. I liked that the shower and toilet area being separated giving us privacy. The tour plan was convenient and prompt. The tour vans were on time and they was no waiting. Tour plans were for many wonderful locations. We went island hopping one day. It included snorkeling in many locations over coral reefs and a lunch on one small island. Our other tour was to the Puerto Princesa Subterranean River National Park. This is something I will never forget. We also did a Mangrove tour by indigenous locals and zip lining nearby. What a wonderful trip created by the tour planners for us. The water park was amazing. Many slides and lots of water. Additionally, the water was very clean and there were many life guards on duty. We had several issues with service; messages not being passed to us, asking for a crib and receiving a cot, being told our room was being cleaned at the moment and then 2 hours later being told the same thing etc. The saving grace was that the resort is on an absolutely beautiful beach, and is a close walk to some shops. I guess I hadn't really done my complete research on this place because I didn't know that we were going to a totally secluded island resort. We took a plane, then a 40 minute van ride, then a 1 hour boat ride. The journey there is part of the fun. Here are some things you might want to know when you are traveling to Dos Palmas Isand Resort and Spa: *There is an older man on the boat ride to the island who will make things out of palm fronds and he will give them to you. He will not ask for money or tips but just know that he is doing this for tips. This is probably the only payment he will receive for being on the boat, helping you get on and off the boat and helping you with your life jacket. Please tip him! *There are no outside amenities on this island. No shops to purchase resort wear, no vendors selling outside food or trinkets, no stores selling food or drinks. (There is a VERY small gift shop that sells a couple of things.) I would recommend bringing a few snack items to have in your room. *If I came here again, I would bring a few inflatable pool tubes. I thought they might sell them here, but they don't. *The only wifi is in the restaurant. It is terrible! I wouldn't plan on using your phone or ipad while you are here. I couldn't get a wifi connection the entire time we were here. *The one and only restaurant has a rather limited menu but we found the food to be quite good. Aside from the pizza, everything else we ordered surpassed our expectations. The breakfast buffet is included in the price of your room...this was also quite good. *They have free coffee and tea available all day. *The rooms are nice and quiet. We could not hear any of our neighbors. we enjoyed our stay at Dos Palmas and we would not hesitate to stay here again. We were here at the end of March and it wasn't tourist season yet. The weather was perfect and the resort wasn't crowded.

Food is also without a question, enjoyable. But we find Sheridan's food better in terms of flavor. Everyone here is nice, service is excellent. Highly recommend this place if you want to get away from technology. My only gripe is the unnecessary island orientation when you first arrive. They'll hand out the schedule of activities. Unless you're really that dumb, the orientation wasn't needed, it was rather time consuming coz they wont start unless every guest are present.

The water here is filtered and safe. Highly recommended. They discourage tipping, but if you insist, they centralize the tipping. They make sure you don't miss your flight back. Awesome!

You drive to a semi remote road to get to the hotel. Once you walk in, the check in desk is next to an open dining area that opens on an infinity pool and beach in the background. Each room is a beach house so it's really cute. The bathroom has a shower without any doors that drains in the floor. Each room comes with a good air conditioning unit and the curtains do a good job of blocking out the sun when fully closed. Outside patio has chairs with long arms to dry your clothes. The only worry I had was that the outside sliding doors are tricky to lock. The pool was nice to swim in and it was very peaceful. It was cool to see the tide coming in and out every day while swinging in a hammock. Breakfast is buffet style and they start early for those that have tours. They also make omelets, pancakes, and eggs for you on request. My only complaints are the walls are a little thin so you can hear everything and you have to travel to get anywhere since it's a bit remote. I think it does add to the charm, but be prepared to travel some when you come here.

Upon arriving to Lagen, we received a warm welcome & a beautiful welcome serenade along with warm cloth to freshen up and drinks as we awaited our boat to transfer to the resort (the only way to get to Lagen Island Resort). The entire staff is welcoming, kind, attentive, hospitable and are consummate professionals with beautiful smiles. Ahead of our visit, we arranged private tours offered through Lagen and finalized the details upon our arrival. we had the best time with Arnel (our guide) & Julie (captain of Banog, the premium speedboat we travelled in for all our tours.). Both Arnel & Julie made our tours flawless, perfect, special, fun and unforgettable. Arnel has so much knowledge about the various locations we visited and captured many memorable moments of our outings. Our early morning start with all the tours afforded us to be the first onsite to experience the tranquil, peaceful & natural beauty surrounding us avoiding all the crowds. We were in awe of the glasslike lagoons & cathedral like limestone formations towering over us. During all our tours, We were treated to a beautiful picnic basket of your choice with every tour and last tour included custom handmade hats made of coconut leaves which we took back with us when traveling home to California, US. Our tours were in the mornings and we got back to Lagen by lunchtime to have our midday siesta and to lounge poolside for the entire afternoon/ evening. We dined at Lagen Island Resort bar and restaurant where we were wowed with the entree options and drinks, too and, even saw monkeys frolicking in the bar area one early morning. The careful prep and serving of our food and drinks were delicious & flavorful to perfection. We were also treated with 2 nights of live entertainment by Mike during our stay whose voice mesmerized us. One more thing... I wasn't feeling too well and had an eye irritation. During our stay, I was seen, cared for by Lagen's onsite nurse and doctor who treated my cold and eye irritation. The nurse also seen me in our room, too. By the time we left, I was feeling so much better and my eye irritation was gone. I was so relieved & grateful that Lagen had an onsite nurse and doctor. Overall, We had a magnificent and unforgettable stay at Lagen Island Resort. We loved the garden area, the serene area with hammock and the cove next to our room. It was hard to leave Lagen but know we will be returning to Lagen in the future PH vacays and hopefully, with friends for them to see and be immersed in the most luxurious resort in El Nido, Palawan, Philippines. The photos don't represent how breathtaking this island truly is! Also, a major factor for our decision to book this resort is that this is an eco friendly resort! YAY! Once we disembarked from the boat, we were greeted with large warm smiles, necklaces made from a palm leaf, and a refreshing drink. We were escorted to the front desk and Johnny Ray helped us check in and gave us an overview of the amenities, excursions and explained different dining options for our stay. He accompanied us to our room, on the way he showed us where the different areas were located for dining, the gym, the bar and boutique . When we arrived to our room he showed us which remotes went to what device and where our complimentary slippers were and most importantly to press "0" if there was anything we needed. I like to preplan quite a bit and had explained that I booked multiple island hopping tours through a company in town prior to arrival and gave him the scheduled dates and times. I asked about transportation options back to town. That was when I realized that the complimentary charter they offer back into town where we needed to be for our tours in the mornings didn't workout timing wise (my bad!). He asked me for the tour group info and helped coordinate with them pick up/drop off for us! Lifesaver! PRO TIP: Book all of your island hopping tours/excursions through the resort, it's a lot more convenient! For our dining options we decided to choose the all-inclusive buffet for our meals. Everyday we were so excited to have our breakfast! There were so many options and fresh juices. All the buffet meals were different everyday. There were different staples for every meal that were the same(rice, breads, eggs made to order in the a.m.), which was great because my friend was addicted to their garlic rice! To be honest, we looked forward to every meal here! The room service a la carte items were delicious also. You won't be disappointed, the chefs are amazing! When we got back from our 1st day of island hopping Jazz, the activities coordinator asked us how our day was. I told her during that tour my GoPro was claimed by the ocean and not obtainable but other than that it was a great day! I asked her if she knew where I could purchase another one. She was able to locate one for me in town and Johnny Ray was able to help me coordinate a pick up for it on our transfer to our next resort which was in 2 days. I appreciate them going above and beyond to help me with this, they really did not have to do any of that! All of the staff members are so friendly and so welcoming here that we were so sad to leave. It was about that time and we had to check out and transfer to our next resort on 1/22/19. We arrived at our next resort, 15mins after being there we decided we really wanted to go back to Lagen Island and spend our last 2 nights in El Nido there. While the current property we were at was beautiful as well, it just wasn't Lagen. We truly missed the vibe of Lagen and the amazing team there, we felt more like home there! We immediately called and asked if there was anyway we could come back and unfortunately it was getting late and the coast guard curfew was rapidly approaching. We were unable to make the transfer back to Lagen that night but they had us back on a boat bright and early the next day! We were so excited to be going back "home"! Once we arrived we were welcomed back with warm smiles and open arms! Ms. Jen was so great and truly went above and beyond to get us back to Lagen. She even helped us coordinate a private van transfer to our next destination because a transfer flight I purchased wouldn't work with our connecting flight. I was unsuccessful with contacting that airline, but they were able to contact the airline for me. They truly did way more than we expected for us, faced all of our challenges we had presented from losing a GoPro, flight dilemmas, to adapters for our hair tools, etc. Also, we stayed in a bungalow and the rooms are so nice, the patio was our favorite spot. From the gorgeous view to the peaceful sound of the ocean waves, you won't be disappointed! They exceeded all of our expectations and it's going to be hard to stay anywhere else without comparing the hospitality/team to Lagen's amazing team! We really felt like they were more like a welcoming family here and the whole vibe on the island is so positive! We are currently feeling homesick from Lagen and can't wait to come back! Oh and did I mention the private snorkeling spot 3mins off the island with free boat transfers every half hour? Food is fine, nothing stellar but friendly prices and enough to choose from.
