Area In Middle of Major building works (student accommodation) and noisy. After obtaining room key for 2-night stay realised been given a standard room (paid for Super room), Back to reception who advised "It's all we have left, hotel is severely overbooked and your lucky to even get a room! If you're not happy contact customer service". Room Key frequently stops working (5 times) security is poor with broken locks. Carpets Stained. Rooms VERY hot, open windows and woken at sunrise by the noise from flocks of seagulls feasting on the rubbish outside. Windows Overlook from apartments meaning you ned to keep curtains closed for any privacy. I have used Travelodge many times over the years, but this hotel should be condemned. Almost £400 for 2 two nights. Raised my concerns with Customer service, the delightful Paige offered me a refund of the difference in room price, nothing in respect of the issues. There are much more central hotels, including budget options, seriously AVOID this Hotel at all costs.

What I believe to be the carbon monoxide alarm was just exposed without a cover. Then when we came down for breakfast, we ended up spending nearly two hour from stepping into the dining hall to leaving. To begin with, we spent nearly 15 minutes for someone to finally attend to us. We kept requesting for cutlery 3 times before finally getting the right amount of cutlery as she kept going back and forth to the kitchen with a piece of cutlery or two. There was hardly anything in the kitchen, we kept asking for stuffs and the sad thing is, they kept bringing things in small bits as if we are the only one in the dining hall. We requested for vegetarian sausages and we were told 8 minutes wait but 15 minutes later we still waiting for the sausages. The coffee machine was broken and there was no coffee. Upon request, few sachets were brought to the dining hall, there were no juice and just one carton of apple juice was then brought out, and that's how it continued for the whole morning. Bear in mind that breakfast time was from 0800 until 1100 but we were there from around 0915 and had to have such an experience. I did hung the "Top Me Up" card on door handle all day and to my surprise, I walked into the Same filthy room as I left it in the morning. No cleaning, no coffee, no milk, no towels, nothing! On our second night, the fire alarm kept going off every few seconds from around 4am. The front desk stated that one of the guests had tampered with the alarm in their room that's why it's going off every 15 seconds but there isn't a thing they can do about it. Is that not the used of the fire panel? To pinpoint where the trip is coming from?? And to say I paid over £300 for such an experience is beyond me. I do not even feel I can recommend it to my worst enemy.

The view from our room of the 18th hole of one of the site's two golf courses was very much appreciated, in addition to the view of the River Severn and the Severn Bridge. The room was spacious and quiet. In addition to the comfortable double bed we were provided with ample lighting, a large desk, a chest of drawers, side table (unfortunately found to be quite dusty), comfortable armchair placed to take advantage of the view (which I took full advantage of, relaxing with a book and a coffee first thing in the morning after my swim), several large and clean mirrors, and a bedside table each. The wardrobe with sliding doors contained several hangars, instructions on how to obtain dry cleaning services, an iron and board, a large electric fan, and a good-quality hairdryer. Above the chest of drawers and facing the bed was the large flat screen television, upon which a range of options were available (including the opportunity to purchase recently-released films). We were provided with a selection of tea and coffee in our room, along with a small but clean kettle. At one portion of each item per-guest we felt that we could have been spared having to contact reception in order obtain more. The bathroom provided high-quality facilities above the level of essential. So many hotels no longer have bathtubs, so the opportunity to enjoy a soak was very much appreciated. However, I cannot help but mention that a used bottle of complimentary body lotion was found behind the shower curtain. As neither of us are accustomed to feather pillows and prefer the support of a foam pillow. A quick call to reception and we had a couple of decent foam pillows sent up. The soft and spacious double bed, the comfortable temperature of the room, and the tranquillity of the surroundings made for a wholly restful night. The pool, although relatively small, was perfectly adequate for a few laps before breakfast. Both the sauna and steam room were clean and spacious. Although I didn't pay it a visit, the gym appeared to have plenty of modern equipment on offer in a pleasant atmosphere. The changing rooms were clean and provided secure digital lock mechanisms on spacious lockers, hairdryers, ample space in which to change and private facilities, and complementary toiletries. The breakfast buffet was fantastic in terms of the availability and quality of items. There is something to suit a great many tastes here and the staff seem only too happy to accommodate any special requests. I made the mistake of leaving behind a treasured jacket and was very pleased to find the facilities team had located it and dispatched it in the post to my home address.

It's quite new and you can tell - the service is exceptional, the kind of exceptional you only get from somewhere that's still trying their hardest to impress, with none of the cynicism apparent in many other longer established luxury hotels. The architecture is awesome - externally it's stunning, a period building that oozes style. Inside has been decorated beautifully. It's a bit of a warren inside, I got lost on the way back from the gym, and ended up on my floor, but the opposite side. But it adds to the character. The rooms are gorgeous, big comfy beds, quirky chairs and classic touches. My bathroom was clean and modern, and very roomy. The aforementioned gym is well stocked with very modern equipment. A bit warm with no aircon that I could feel, but it's in one of the old bank vaults which weren't designed to be cool I guess! The spa looked amazing too - I didn't use it but was seriously tempted. The jacuzzi looked like bliss and the people in it at the time had beaming smiles, so I assume they were having a good time. Yet to try the cocktail bar or restaurant - if I do I'll update the review! Overall impressions are great, I'll absolutely be coming back here when I'm next down on business (or pleasure...)
