Bertie's is a pub I used to forget that it existed. That was because it called itself a wine bar and I find that poncey. Then, back in 1999 I found myself drinking here on most Friday nights. So, I was underage but it was a fave hangout of local office staff including those from Eidos Interactive.
Berties to this day remains this office based crowd. Berties is also the downstairs bar from the Prince of Wales meaning access via the front door of the Prince opposite Wimbledon station. There is no food available in Berties, but it does sell more than just wine. It has lovely comfy seats, sofa and has a basement/wine cellar kind of feel.
The bar is tiny so getting served can be hard and there are a few steps that are hidden from eye-level, so be careful. Also the toilets can be a bit minging considering the higher level of the furniture. Do come down here for the open mic night on a Tuesday. The musicians are great. read more
