Understandable that there is a cost due to fuel prices but would have liked to have been warned before we for kids hopes up about riding. When we arrived home with our 'farm fresh produce' we discovered grocery store tags on both our apples and peppers. If I wanted to get them at the grocery, I would have. But I wanted to wait and support local paces. Turns out your local produce means peppers from Mexico or Kroger down on the corner. Unfortunately will not be returning.

Fresh, Local, Organic, Unique, AWESOME!…read more Yellow Springs Farmers market is the best in the area!! They are open every Saturday morning May to November from 7 am to noon, But don't arrive at noon or you will be disappointed. As their website says, with over 20 different vendors, they have fresh and organic fruits and vegetables from many different local farms. They also have organic meat, cheeses, and eggs. There are fresh baked goods and even a few great gluten free vendors!! They have local honey, local maple syrup, and even a place for fresh cut flowers. My personal favorites are the organic and local veggies, local honey, Flying Mouse local maple syrup, and the organic bacon. Once, I got some organic ham too and it was amazing!!! For people with food allergies - Lots of gluten free products. You will be amazed! Plus some free samples. You'd never know they were gluten free. I wish I could remember the name of the vendor, but one of my favorites has a completely gluten free kitchen because she has Celiac disease, so no cross contamination issues!!! For people with pet allergies, be careful. There are almost always people who bring their dogs. Also don't miss Yellow Springs Winter Farmers market - not as many vendors or variety but still worth the trip! Tips: Go early!!! You won't get the bacon or the pick of the produce if you go late. Park behind Tom's Market. Easy parking. Bring your own reusable bags. It is Yellow Springs after all. LOL. Bring plenty of cash in lower bills if possible. Ask questions. No one here minds talking about their products! Bring a gluten free friend along. They will thank you!

They also had lots of neat canned items that you don't see on the grocery shelves. They had single pieces of pie and whole pies to buy and some other food items you could sit down and eat. I will definitely be stopping back when I can. And by the way, the honey was $19 for a 2 lb. jar.

Somehow I have continually overlooked writing this review. By no meams because of the farm itself…read more On a dreary day in October, my daughter and I ventured out to Schappacher Farm. Our purpose was u-pick pumpkins. Upon entering the barn/farmer's market/where one buys tickets my daughter saw some small pumpkins, and immediately settled on those. That did not end our time at the farm. We decided to try the corn maze, and purchased a few of the carrot available for feeding the animals. The mini horse was friendly. It instantly came to greet us. It then proceeded to munch away at the carrot my daughter was holding. All the while she proceeded to pet it. The other animals were hiding in their shelter. We should have taken this as a sign that inclement weather was approaching, but we chalked it up to them having had their fill of people. After my daughter had her fill of the horse, we proceed to the corn maze. About half way through the maze I felt a large drop hit my head. Then as if in slow motion, large drops continued fall. My first though was "this is how horror movies start, raining and trapped in a corn maze." If we had turned a corner and saw a scarecrow, I probably would have screamed. Instead, I managed to keep a stiff upper lip, and we found our way out of the maze. I'm not sure if it was because of the rain, or that it was a weekday, but what was available during our visit was the corn maze, u-pick pumpkins and feeding the animals. Not sure if more happens on the weekends. The rain signified the end of our time on the farm. We left with what we came for, as well as some interesting stories.
