Strawberries are my fave so I've always wanted to check out the strawberry festival. Finally got the chance and luckily for me there was a Groupon special $8 for 2 tickets! My husband & I decided to go for mothers day. We got there around noon and was able to find parking along the street at the elementary school. I'm glad we found a spot; saved us $5 parking fee! The festival was pretty small. There was not much there except a few food booths and strawberry vendors. We tried the strawberry beer which was $6. Not too horrible but worth a try. We also got a chicken and pork stick from the Thai BBQ stand. It was good. The beignet (european doughnut) was yummy!! It was $5, came with 2 fairly good sized doughnuts covered with strawberries, walnuts and powered sugar. It was actually the only and best thing about my whole experience. There were other vendors that includes strawberry pizza, strawberry churro, coffee, shortcake, sundaes, funnel cake, etc but I was already stuffed from the BBQ & garlic fries. I don't think I would be returning again. It's one of those things where you go just to check it out and never again.

We went to the BerryFest 2017 and enjoyed it very much. My grandbaby had fun in the petting zoo. We had savory crepes for lunch that were delicious - mine was Turkey and artichokes - yummmm. This year they invited a small part of the Adventure Faire to join in and my pirate-loving DD really enjoyed their options. I had a ton of fun with the different photo options for us. The model railroad club is always fun to see by all, with lots of cool layouts. There was a row of strawberry vendors and I've been enjoying eating the ones I bought all week! Delish! The kids rides looked like fun (grandbaby was too young) and i enjoyed watching one of the circus acts. The boy scouts did a great job in a variety of places. We got to enjoy their strawberry shortcake. Overall it was a delightful time and we're looking forward to next year.

I originally was going to give 4 to 5 stars but after I saw the low ratings and read why other people gave two stars I thought three might be more suiting it is true I didn't understand the concept I thought it was gonna be similar to the strawberry festival they in galt " come here it's just strawberries then it is a Renaissance kind of feel kind of like a gypsy mystical feel I don't know where the strawberries really came in to park there was a lot of randomness so kind kink deal I did like the stuff they sold but because I thought it was going to be the strawberry festival I didn't bring money to buy a lot of the items also the admission price was high at $10 it should've have been five dollars especially when they county fair is only six dollars I thought that area was pretty big there was a lot to see I came at 4 o'clock so there was no really big lines and I parked on the street and save the five dollars lucky for me a lot of people were leaving so I was able to get a spot quickly and walk over the walk was not a bad walk at all I came with my daughter as our last Mother's Day event to do I thought it was pretty fun idea i didn't spend too much money I was irritated my daughter had a few meltdowns she actually got a necklace from one of the vendors for free and some other Jewel on her face I did like how they had a mothers area with lots of water and comfy couches to sit and collect your children and I thought that it was set up well it was a lot of vendors so there's more buying stuff they did have some things that were lower cost around one or two dollars and the food items were a great price I think they did an OK job but they should have better pricing and more stuff to do for kids that was something that you didn't have to pay for

    Reptile exhibit was wonderful!

Pro-tip: be sure to park further away as ANY event at the fairgrounds will cost you $10 and in CASH ONLY. In addition to the cover charge, you have to buy $5 vouchers which get you sample sized items from all vendors that were put on. It is somewhat of a glorified food truck event. There were only a few places that weren't food trucks. I didn't really like the voucher system as not all vendors accepted them for things like desserts. I ended up having to trade my voucher back for cash toward the end. It would just be easier to hand the vendors cash for all the items, but apparently the vendors only get like $3 out of the $5 paid for the vouchers. I guess the cover charge isn't enough for the event hosts? It's basically just like any other food festival but overpriced if you're paying for the cover charge and parking. It's not a huge event. You come, try a few things and leave or look at some of the little shops.

Some of the food was better than others, but this was there first one. I expect this festival to grow into an even better experience with more time. The parking and alcohol were expensive and I discussed this with the owner, who noted the city was in charge of alcohol and parking, not them. I was pleased to learn they would be using a different venue for the next one to bring down parking and alcohol costs. I will definitely be going back.

What a fun annual events for all ages!…read more There is free parking in the nearby lot if you get their early or you can park in the neighborhoods and walk into the park. There is also paid parking ($13) that you have to pre-pay online. Follow the signs for "PRE-PAY" and scan the QR code with the person at the gate. Paying for parking was the way to go, it was a short walk into the event when some of my family members had to park far into the neighborhoods. There are some chicken themed vendors and a few chicken dishes can be found at the food trucks. We witnessed a chicken call contest on stage where the person with the best chicken cluck got a gift card for $25! There seemed to be some chicken themed activities for the kids as well. Country music and hay bales as seats. 2 Beer/Wine gardens to ease you from the heat. I bought a load of jalapeno cheese bread from the cutest bakery vendor. We brought our camp chairs and set up under the shade to hear the music and check out the vendors. Beer tickets were $7 and there was a pretty good variety. Fun time!

First time attending the festival, my 2 year old granddaughter and I went and had a blast. We walked around the different vendors, received some free items including a cool chicken hat, little chicken squish toys which she loved, and we learned a few things from the vendors. Had a Mango sorbert and Pink Lemonade from one of the food trucks that was the best I have ever had. Yum! Prices were good for the large size of the items. Parking wasn't too bad, we found some at a nearby business who offered their lot to festival patrons and didn't have to walk to far. There was lots of security walking around the festival, which made you feel safe. My granddaughter had so much fun coloring on the Kids Color Board, bouncing in the bounce houses and playing the mini carnival games. We will definitely will be back next year.

I've never attended the location at the Cal Expo but the location in Auburn was a beautiful park-like venue with lots of greenery outside in the open air. It was a nice place to hold the event. The weather was sunny and in the low 80's. Perfect weekend for ending the summer! Folks were out in their lawn chairs just enjoying the day. There was no shortage of entertainment (live native Hawaiian and Pacific Islander), fun workshops, Aloha merchandise, and delicious Polynesian food!!! There were resource vendor booths, educational exhibits, and an arts and crafts Keiki Korner, and lots more. Restrooms were nearby and the grounds was wheelchair accessible. We attended to watch my boss's little keiki participate on stage with the KŪHAI HĀLAU O KANOHEAOKALIKOLAUA'E PĀ 'ŌLAPA KAHIKO dance group led by Kumu Hula, Nohea Macugay. We also participated (attempted) at the Tahitian Workshop with the VAIPUNA NO TE HERE dance group led by Director, Stephanie Manuel. My daughter belongs in the dance group and was part of the workshop. -whew- what a workout. Also, saw my favorite band, Island Sunset Band, on stage. My favorite because "Unko" is a guitar player (married to Yelper, "Aunty" Ronnie B) This was a much needed coming together and made me miss the islands. Everyone is dressed up in character which really helps make you feel immersed. There are loads of actors and performers all around the place, and tons and tons of shopping to be done. We saw the archery show which was....ok. It was cool to see them competing with each other, but it was literally impossible to tell which arrow belonged to who. My suggestion would be to attack a big colorful string or change the color of the arrows to match each contestant. We were left confused as to who was winning the entire time because of it. Nobody was mic'd either so it really was silent in terms of the arena. Next we saw the jousting show which was really fun. Tons of theatrics, horses, fighting, and crowd work! That was a good time. Then we went to walk around and catch some of the smaller shows. The majority of this Faire was just vendors selling things. I love events like the Oddities and Curiosities Expo which bring in tons of vendors showing off stuff I literally have never seen before, and I have a huge impulsive feeling to buy. I didn't get that once at this faire. Sure there was some cool stuff but it really wasn't anything that I felt like I needed to buy. Some soaps, crystals, swords, books, and disgustingly a stall selling AI artwork. Some vendors really did have some cool stuff like handmade clothing that was too far out of my budget, but I would love if I were rich. Lines were insanely long so we didn't eat or drink anything here, but it looked ok in terms of food. I just wish there were some unique vendors here or other things to do like games and events that you can partake in. Overall it's not a place you're going to spend the entire day at, but it's fun to kill a couple of hours in costume. We'll most likely be back next year, I just wish it was a bit more "wow" like others I've seen.
