I'm glad I purchased a Groupon for this event otherwise it is not worth the $8 entrance fee. I was basically in and out of there within an hour. If you go early enough there are plenty of spaces for street parking. There weren't too many people there. I think this is more of an event for the locals. There were plenty of strawberry based foods that included tamales, pizza, salsa, beer, etc., but none of them really appealed to me. I ordered the chicken teriyaki- $6. It was quite big and flavorful. This was probably one of the most popular items there since it had the longest line. I also ordered the strawberry puppies (hushpuppies) for the sake of getting something strawberry related- $2. It was ok but I don't understand why the Hershey's chocolate sauce that was used to dip the strawberry puppies into was so watery. Of course they also sold plain old strawberries. They were some of the best strawberries I ever had. My friend even bought a box of them. read more

A-OK I enjoyed more variety at this event this time around. Strawberry salsa was unique. Strawberry popcorn and dipped berries for only a $1 each, which is awesome since they're fresh. Wish they did have a to-do container though to put these in. Plenty of vendors and contests. I do wish they would have more strawberry based vendors. They did have a lot of cool vendors like honey and BBQ sauce vendors. The variety of organic seasonings and tea was pretty awesome. Though pricey at $5 for 2oz spices and $7 for 2 oz teas. We used an Entertainment coupon, so we only paid $10 for admission. Otherwise, it would have been $20. I definitely would not pay full price for this event. We were in and out in an hour. There isn't THAT much to see warranting the price. Plenty of these are far cheaper or free to attend. I can understand the state and county fair for $10-12 each, but not the Berry Fest. There's more festivities geared towards kids, which a lot of us childless people don't utilize. Plus it costs money for parking as well. ($5 according to another review) We always park further and walk. So I am minusing a star for the entrance and parking fees. Prices are also not all that clear on the site. We got in free as performers otherwise I would not pay to go in. Vendors selling stuff and lots of community groups preforming. There are also many people in costume so if that is your thing you will love it. Reminds me a bit of renaissance fair performers. So if you have deep pockets and like fair food this is for you. read more

I don't know what I was expecting, but Berryfest was just your standard county fair with some slight alterations with themes. I've been hearing how great berryfest is for years so when my parents were visiting during mother's day weekend, I thought this was a great event to take them to. Well boy was I wrong, as we were all disappointed. It took about 40 minutes to get into the parking area from the street because it wasn't being properly managed. We should have seen this as a sign and left right then. A particularly odd combination of pirate cosplay, county fair, car show and old timey country fair with a few strawberries thrown in made up the grounds. We were overwhelmed with the crowds everywhere, I think thousands and thousands and uncomfortably hard to find open space. There was a carnival with rides, a railroad enthusiast clubhouse, tons and tons of vendors with cheap crud, spiffy old cars, food stalls and more. The pirate stuff was kinda cool, there was a cool dragon made of various metal and cannons that were overly-hyped. I did find a strawberry in the big building at a cooking demonstration with Mr. Marks the TV produce guy (mostly just more vendors in there though). Everything was pretty pricey, from parking to food that wasn't very good. Where are the strawberries? Not really at BerryFest, so go for a crazy fair atmosphere and be prepared to shell out some bucks. read more

Strawberries are my fave so I've always wanted to check out the strawberry festival. Finally got the chance and luckily for me there was a Groupon special $8 for 2 tickets! My husband & I decided to go for mothers day. We got there around noon and was able to find parking along the street at the elementary school. I'm glad we found a spot; saved us $5 parking fee! The festival was pretty small. There was not much there except a few food booths and strawberry vendors. We tried the strawberry beer which was $6. Not too horrible but worth a try. We also got a chicken and pork stick from the Thai BBQ stand. It was good. The beignet (european doughnut) was yummy!! It was $5, came with 2 fairly good sized doughnuts covered with strawberries, walnuts and powered sugar. It was actually the only and best thing about my whole experience. There were other vendors that includes strawberry pizza, strawberry churro, coffee, shortcake, sundaes, funnel cake, etc but I was already stuffed from the BBQ & garlic fries. I don't think I would be returning again. It's one of those things where you go just to check it out and never again. read more

This was so much fun! It was a tad crowded but you could spread out and do many of the exhibits and activities. Free things for the kiddos, fair food, petting zoo, model trains, inexpensive parking, and electric car racing! They even had a foam fighting arena. It was a great time. My favorite part was the Mom's Retreat for nursing mothers. It was amazing and such a welcome retreat from the sun and quiet and peaceful so I could feed my daughter without distractions. Very aggressive behaviour from a farm vendor that was to the right of the paint a rock booth I was trying to take my sons to. He asked me if I was interested in his farm and I told him not really I was taking my sons to the rock painting booth and he blocked my way, told me I couldnt cause his booth wasnt the rock painting one even though he had let some white people pass. I was like oh and he kept repeating ya ya ya ya at me until I walked away. Good job berry festival for allowing people like this to treat your customers this way. This was my second year coming here and I will not be going back again. I dont need to take my family of 6 at $12 a pop to be treated poorly by the people that are "working" there read more

Honestly, I really didn't know what to expect. From what I did see, I wasn't very impressed. I wish there were more cooked "strawberry" dishes, instead of tons of stands selling strawberries. I can get that at a farmer's market!!! Cooked dishes that I did encounter: strawberry tamales, strawberry churros, strawberry kettle corn, etc. Not sure if I'll go back next year...maybe with a discounted entrance fee. First of all, I went on a free ticket and totally appreciate it. Having said that, there wasn't a lot to this festival. There was a decent, super-fatty food selection, although I am too cheap for 'fair food.' We went on Sunday afternoon and there were no activities beyond the cheesy cover band. Pretty great for a small festival and the family loves it especially the mother's. Some of the berry stalls will say they're organic but they aren't usda approved or they aren't 100% organic. This was a huge waste of time and money. Very disappointed to have waited my Mother's Day on this event. Not only was it $10 to park you had to pay $12 per person to get in. There was nothing remotely "strawberry" related. Food trucks, cheap carnival, and swap meet type vendors. We will not be going again and it was nothing like advertised. My daughter was so disappointed as the "strawberry festival" that wasn't one at all. Because there is nothing there. $5 to park, $10 to get in and only carnival food and not great ones ether. No entertainment, nothing to do except eat food, not a lot to do with berries. Where do I start with this berry horrible experience? First, parking is handled by the Boy Scouts of America, and I'm not so sure they give out badges for directing traffic within a large contained area, and making exit signs. Seriously, how hard is it to write "exit" on a poster board? Because when the exit isn't where the entrance is, it's hardly intuitive for people who don't make a living parking their cars in fields. It's a mess, and that's putting it lightly. They charge money for you to park in a lot that is a scene out of Mad Max Fury Road. It's a free for all, and good luck finding the exit. The actual fest is just one vendor after another trying to get you to sign up for their wares. There were at least three direct tv stalls, two window installation vendors, two stalls for martial arts academies, and on and on. And don't get me started on the number of stalls for silver pedants and tie-dyed skull caps. They have a "food court" which is almost at the opposite end of where tables and seats are. By the time you find anywhere to eat your food, you've expired from heat and hunger. There was nothing berry related to this event, only people trying to take your money. They had a couple of stalls selling strawberries, but I can get for cheaper at the supermarket. I saw only one food stall that had strawberry treats, e.g., chocolate dipped strawberries, fried strawberries. I'm not expecting Disneyland, not even the state fair or the Stanislaus county fair (although I'm sure that's very nice), but what exactly am I paying for? What a scam. We entered our classic car in the car show, as we were sitting and enjoying our day with family the sprinklers turned on. We just bought our grand kids ice cream and food plates. Our food & ice cream got soaked. My husband car was soaked as we were. Felt as if it was done on purpose for us to leave. Very disappointing and disrespectful. The gentleman that were hosting the Car show called management but of course no one came, which my husband and I appreciate the gentleman from NorCal trying to help out to resolve the issue. I discovered a lady that sells lavender jellies last year and returned this year to purchase more. Not a strawberry product but still as amazing. Nothing else really that exciting. Uhhhhh this is just a watered down version of the state fair. Lot's of people trying to sell you things. Not very much entertainment or things to do. The worst disappointment was there wasn't enough things/food with strawberries in them! There needs to be a food truck specializing in different strawberry savory entrees. We bought a groupon and when we went to front entrance, we were turned away and had to walk all the way around the circumference of the entire fairgrounds to the back entrance where they had a paper list with our names on it. We went to the BerryFest 2017 and enjoyed it very much. My grandbaby had fun in the petting zoo. We had savory crepes for lunch that were delicious - mine was Turkey and artichokes - yummmm. This year they invited a small part of the Adventure Faire to join in and my pirate-loving DD really enjoyed their options. I had a ton of fun with the different photo options for us. The model railroad club is always fun to see by all, with lots of cool layouts. There was a row of strawberry vendors and I've been enjoying eating the ones I bought all week! Delish! The kids rides looked like fun (grandbaby was too young) and i enjoyed watching one of the circus acts. The boy scouts did a great job in a variety of places. We got to enjoy their strawberry shortcake. Overall it was a delightful time and we're looking forward to next year. read more

I originally was going to give 4 to 5 stars but after I saw the low ratings and read why other people gave two stars I thought three might be more suiting it is true I didn't understand the concept I thought it was gonna be similar to the strawberry festival they in galt " come here it's just strawberries then it is a Renaissance kind of feel kind of like a gypsy mystical feel I don't know where the strawberries really came in to park there was a lot of randomness so kind kink deal I did like the stuff they sold but because I thought it was going to be the strawberry festival I didn't bring money to buy a lot of the items also the admission price was high at $10 it should've have been five dollars especially when they county fair is only six dollars I thought that area was pretty big there was a lot to see I came at 4 o'clock so there was no really big lines and I parked on the street and save the five dollars lucky for me a lot of people were leaving so I was able to get a spot quickly and walk over the walk was not a bad walk at all I came with my daughter as our last Mother's Day event to do I thought it was pretty fun idea i didn't spend too much money I was irritated my daughter had a few meltdowns she actually got a necklace from one of the vendors for free and some other Jewel on her face I did like how they had a mothers area with lots of water and comfy couches to sit and collect your children and I thought that it was set up well it was a lot of vendors so there's more buying stuff they did have some things that were lower cost around one or two dollars and the food items were a great price I think they did an OK job but they should have better pricing and more stuff to do for kids that was something that you didn't have to pay for read more

This is a Great Event! I have gone every year with my kids they love it. They have fantastic shows for the kids, wonderful live bands for us parents, and the food and shopping are awesome. One year my daughter fell and scraped her knee while running to the carnival a staff member saw what happened and took us to the med. tent. Everyone is so friendly and helpful. I saw a picture that someone posted of a spider in the porta potty..... if they told the staff I'm sure they would have killed. read more

It was started by the Old Town Merchants Assn as a way to bring people into Old Town to support the businesses. Mike Galt & Isabel Bravo were early organizers. Just got back from my first trek to the Roseville Strawberry Festival and was NOT impressed. Five bucks to park your car, check. Eight bucks admission fee, check. I have no problem paying these fees but surely expect to get some value for my money. That was clearly not the case here. We walked through the entire venue in about 20 minutes. No energy and no entertainment visible anywhere. All we saw were lots and lots of vendor booths selling ridiculously priced wares. $5 for one chocolate strawberry? Another 5 bucks for an ear of roasted corn?? Seriously, are the vendors simply jacking up the prices to pad their profits, or is the promoter of the event overcharging for the booth space, which in turn causes the vendors to overcharge for everything? Either way, it's us that are paying these costs on top of admission and parking charges. Considering the small size of his event it would have been better priced at $5 admission which included free parking. Adios Strawberry Festival, I'll be taking my $$ to festivals which provide a much better semblance of value. read more

I am unable to walk all the way around the fairgrounds so we drove. We had been told $5 to park. The parking attendant said they have no control over what the venders tell people. Most definitely not worth the full price entrance so be on the look out for a Groupon deal. The festival was on the small side but when you've got kids the size is just right. There were lots of strawberries for sale but I couldn't really find and foods featuring strawberries besides the Boy Scout strawberry shortcake which was subpar. The layout was pretty organized and there were many food options. I really enjoyed the beer garden tent. The music was great and the place was large and shaded. Bring cash. Most of the places were cash only, including the parking. The rides are a rip off. One will cost about $4! And some food vendors are pretty pricey as well. The petting zoo was a joke. It was a small pen with a few sad animals crammed inside. The worst part was the sign asking parents to wash children's hands after touching animals but they didn't even have a sink nearby or hand sanitizer to offer. How were they expecting us to wash hands?? We did not have a horrible time but it really wasn't so amazing. I don't think I'll be coming back. read more

I was pretty excited when I heard about this, but was kind of hoping for a little more. The best thing about the fair was obviously the strawberry options and the opportunity to eat fair food. The best thing I ate was the strawberry tamale- where else are you going to get one of those. The bad bits- there wasn't much in the way of entertainment- unless you were there to shop for fair type items or you had small children the only thing to do was eat and have a nosey at the sweet rides- by which I mean some nicely done up older cars. If your not into cars and you didn't happen to bring a long a bunch of munchkins eating is about your only option, which seriously did not justify the $8 entrance fee. It appeared as if the proceeds were going to the boy scouts (or something) so I consoled myself that I was donating to charity, but in the end $16 to get access to some not to spec food options was a bit on the lame-o side. Other options I tried were the frozen choc dipped banana and strawberry stick (I think they called this the canadian mountie or something), and the choc dipped strawberries on a stick which weren't that great- it seemed like the woman doing them was by this time quite exhausted and was probably just over it. Since she was making them all day the ones I got were still rather warm from the chocolate which wasn't that good. The ones I got at the grocery store were much better. read more

OMG I want a refund. Let's just start with i was overcharged at the gate, the man said $25 for me, my husband, 10 year old, and 4 year old (5 and under are free. I checked my email because they did not give out receipts and seen I was charged $30. We saw two booths with berries and that was it. This was the worst and weirdest event I have ever been to. There was nothing berry about it. There were pirates everywhere. I wanted to buy berry things not cossets. The belly dancers, well there are just no words, it was just awful. I was happy to hang with good friends and get a free ticket for me and my whole family, on the other hand this was a very low key event. My son enjoyed the Crazy Bike guy activity, which was a bike that no one could ride except carny guy. The deal was pay $5 to ride it a foot forward and then get $100, no one present won. Totally funny statement by Crazy Bike Guy to my son is, "people win, just not here." I tried lumpia for the first time and injested many other fair type treats. One fun part was the clearance type prices on festival foods near the end of the event. Unfortunately we had already eaten and spent triple the discount price. Overall this was about the company, not the event. Oh I bought a really pretty geranium plant from the Boy Scouts of America for $4, which I believe was a highlight. read more

This is a vendor fair and nothing else. I counted 2 strawberry vendors, otherwise there is nothing else to see except walking from one vendor to the next. I could not figure out why this is called the Sacramento Strawberry Festival, or BerryFest. There are rides for the kids at a price, a petting zoo for a price, etc. We were really disappointed except for one thing. My wife wanted to get a soft serve ice cream and I wisely chose the orange flavor that tasted like an old fashioned orangecicle. My husband and I attended the Strawberry Festival on Saturday to watch our granddaughter in the Little Miss Strawberry Pagaent. That was fun and they had a good attendence and lots of little girls competing. I had a HUGE bowl of strawberry shortcake from the Boy Scout booth which was delcious. Unlike some of the other comments, I was never able to find a booth that was actually selling fresh, local strawberries. I had hoped to find all kinds of booths with Fresh strawberry products like cakes and pies and to go home with at least a flat of strawberies. Most of the booths were food that had nothing to do with strawberries. There was not enough handicapped parking and my husband and I had to either park far from the gate or sit and wait for a handicapped space to open up (which we did). This Festival is the Best of California! I LOVE THIS EVENT AND SO DO MY KIDDOS! Strawberries galore! Pancake Strawberries, Deep Fried Strawberry shortcake ( so Yummy!), roasted corn, deep-fried Zuchini..plump corn dogs- okay there's some awesome fair food at this place too that's all i'm saying! Awesome live music, endless entertainment for the kiddos and so much food and beverages to choose from! Vendors of all sorts from all over come to this festival each year because it's the best and they know it's the best! We've made it a family tradition to go every year :) read more

Worst event I've been to in a long time. Very overpriced ($5 to park and $8 admission per person) and not much to do. I felt like I was in the vendor halls at the state fair. We walked in and were immediately blocked by an aggressive sales guy telling us to give them all of our personal information for a chance to go in a money booth. We even overheard him telling a poor young teenager he was training that he wasn't getting in people's way enough. We had the same experience with aggressive vendors all over the event. We left after about 20 minutes and went to a local park instead. We won't be going back again next year. read more

They had a lot of great strawberry desserts like Frozen strawberry lemonade, strawberry short cake, strawberry cheesecake bites, etc. Most of the food was basically like the county fair but the space was so small. It was way too crowded and the lines were long making the experience less enjoyable because there wasn't much room to move. They could benefit from a larger space. The parking IS AWFUL! It took us about a half hour just to get into the parking gate, the signs were misleading so you weren't sure if you were going in the right direction. And lastly, the theme. I have no idea what the theme was or if it's just a random costume test. I saw a lot of renaissance costumes, then I saw Belle and Alice, then Jack Sparrow, and then this dragon looking guy who was held by a leash by some old woman. I had no idea what was going on lol overall I'd say it was an experience, and a good experience if you're just going for the food. My mom and I were a little too old for rides but if you have kids the rides looked fun but again, traveling through the park may be an issue due to the small walkways and multiple strollers and people already read more
