Oh Loblolly, what can I say about you? Well I realize that theater and types of theater settings…read morepeople enjoy can differ greatly from person to person. That being said, I've attended Loblolly performances that I loved and other performances that I really did not enjoy. The one thing I will give Loblolly credit for is sustaining a successful offbeat theater company in Pensacola. They consistently provide something different, which sometimes works out and sometimes it doesn't, but they certainly get an "A" for effort. The theater is one small room, usually with the stage area in the center of the room with seats arranged around it. You will likely either love the intimate feel or you will hate it. I have a friend who used to do a lot of local theater and the set-up makes him very uncomfortable. I, however, much prefer it to larger settings - to each his own I guess. The backstage area, which they sometimes open up after the performances for refreshments and discussion, is simply an adjacent room. We are not talking anything fancy at all here, but somehow it works.

The South Baldwin Community Theatre (SBCT) is a non-profit organization that was founded in 1972 by…read morethe late Father Anthony Zoghby, Nancy Holk Totman, and the late Herb Anderson. Today, members of the SBCT group come from all walks of life in this community setting in an environment for actors, musicians children, young adults, and many volunteers. These fine folks combine their talents to bring a piece of the performing arts to the greater Baldwin County area on the Alabama Gulf Coast. With the support of this entire community, they bring the dramatic arts alive to everyone. Our recent visit was for the Wingbeat Christmas Spectacular and the production was outstanding which seems to be the norm here. They do plays and productions across the spectrum including youth shows. There are also special events and happenings throughout the year, check out their website and Facebook page. There's parking onsite that can fill up, it's handicap accessible and the venue is absolutely adorable. Bottom line: The staff, administration, and volunteers are a great group of folks that make this a community treasure. Check them out and please support them. highly recommended! https://www.sbct.biz/ https://www.facebook.com/SBCTheatre/

We were lucky enough to purchase front row seats so we got a great view of the play, although I don't think there's a bad seat. Tickets were very reasonable at $20 each. The play runs until the end of June so there's still time to check out this entertaining play.
