This place is amazing for those needing to stay for longer periods of time. I have stayed in the…read moreDarmstadt area for 3 months prior to landing here and I am so excited. There are multiple apartment buildings throughout Griesheim offered, they are all well taken care of and some are very recently renovated. The manager is very nice and speaks some English, but if you have a little German experience you can work everything out. The price is very reasonable, especially for the quality and service offered. Internet, utilities and cleaning are included in the price. The only thing I wish could be different is more washer/dryers for clothes only one machine per building.

I'm an American and I came to Germany not knowing a lot about Regina's apartments. The apartments…read moreare called Regina's because a nice older German woman named regina owns them. She is very sweet and speaks a little english. If you email her, she is very responsive. I always email her before I fly home for the holidays and she says I can pay the rent when I get back if I need to. So...she's wonderful. My apartment is great. Utilities, wifi, parking and cleaning service once a week is included in the rent. I think it's an incredible rate for what you get! The apartment building I'm in (Gerhart-Hauptmann Str 20) is only a few blocks from the strassenbahn and there's a lot of great restaurants nearby. Very safe area. The apartments are fully furnished..the only thing I had to buy when I got here was a toaster, toaster oven, a large kitchen trash bin (the one in the apartment is just too small) and a laundry basket (just things I like to personally have). The down side: there is only one washer and dryer in the basement of each building and it only takes 1 euro coins so that's kind of annoying. There's also no gym- which is weird for American guests since most apartment buildings in America have gyms. Also..there are NO ovens in most of these apartments. The kitchens have VERY small refrigerators (and freezers) compared to American kitchens but she does provide a coffee maker, dishes, cups, utensils, dish rags, a microwave, etc. Don't worry- after a while- you get used to the small refrigerator!! lol Overall- I have lived in this place for more than a year and love it! Highly recommend this place to anyone looking for a great place near Darmstadt. Regina apartments is wonderful!!

The worst experience ever! I travel a lot and this place has been the worst experience because the…read morelandlord is very painful to deal with, he will try to charge you more money. We made reservations to this place because we needed an apartment that accepted pets. They charge 10euro per pet/per day, but then they don't tell you that they charge an additional 10euro a day for full cleaning of the room, they didn't even do a full cleaning everyday like he said they would. They didn't take out the trash everyday and some days our towels weren't replaced. On top of that the landlord yelled at us because the dogs were on the couch and bed. Then yelled at us again because he accused us of letting our dogs pee on his property, by property he meant the parking lot and the yard!!!! SERIOUSLY! I have no idea why they allow pets in this guesthouse because they freak out about what your dog MIGHT do. Another thing is that the room is very hot, you can turn off the heater and open the windows but then the next day they turn it back up really high and of course close the windows. Then one night we were so hot we turned off the heater and opened the bathroom window, in the middle of the night the landlord knocked on the door to yell at us for leaving the window open. He said the window being open triggered an alarm so he couldn't sleep! One day I took my dogs out for a walk when they were cleaning our apartment, when I looked up into the balcony I saw the landlord in our apartment. I bet he was going through our stuff because when I got back there was a note on the cable box that said not to put anything on top of it due to risk of fire. We didn't even use the cable box, we unplugged it because it didn't work and we wanted to use our laptops instead. How would an unplugged cable box catch fire? Seriously?! There are cameras everywhere... at first when I saw those I felt safe but after dealing with the landlord I felt our privacy being invaded... I wouldn't be surprised if the mirrors in the apartment were one-sided windows with cameras so the landlord can spy or check up on you. They advertise Internet access... that's a joke. They give you an old USB stick to to install, it didn't work on our MacBook Pro. I doubt it would have worked anyway because there was barely any cell service; you have to be in a certain spot in the room to get a signal on your phone. There is no phone in the apartment either so if you don't have a cell phone you have no way of communication to the outside world. This place was so far from the city; it takes about 20-30 minutes to get to the center of town driving. If you plan on walking around for shops or restaurants you'll walk really far down the steep hill to find anything. There is a bus stop right across the street that was nice. I do not recommend this to anyone especially families with pets. Be prepared to be subject to additional fees the landlord comes up with. Also when you get in the room there is a 5-page document of rules written in small font with no line spacing. If you want to feel what it's like to live in a half way house this is probably the best place to get that knocked out.
