The 9th grade graduation today was for 17 kids, while last year it was only 5. My son was here for the past two years, and it is obvious that he has benefited from the experience. The school is highly regarded for it academics, as well as the time spent bring out the unique individuality of each young person. The commencement comments by the Head of School were about "Voice." The collective, the reflective/inner, and the outer expression of who you are. With a class so small it was clear that she knew everyone well enough to be speaking intimately to them while letting the rest of us see what was most important to their mission. The growth the kids have endured and internalized is palpable. That they have learned lessons beyond the classroom is evident in how they appear to truly care for each other. Job well done!

The kids seem to love it and so do I, since I'm packing less lunches and saving money! The staff is great and I must say I'm very pleased with how the year is going so far. We heard horror stories about middle school and bullying. I think the teachers and staff have an excellent anti bullying program in place. And overall just a great group of kids in the 5th grade who are, for the most part, kind to each other. Homework has been pretty light and typically none is given over the wknd. Looking forward to the remainder of the school year.

I am very pleased with the leadership, the facilities, the programs (especially fine-arts/music), and especially the TEACHERS. These are professional teachers. They are dedicated, they treat my kids with respect, and they set great examples. They often show up at after-hours extracurricular-events, something they are not paid to do and do not have to do, but in doing so, help the kids feel what they are doing matters and is important. My family chose Mt. Lebanon among pretty much all Pittsburgh-area communities (via corp. relo) expressly because of the research we did on schools. We have not been disappointed. In fact, my experience so far (two years in) has exceeded my expectations.
