I loved working with Ross and Berkshire Lighting Outlet, both for work and for my personal kitchen lighting. When we needed replacement lighting for Berkshire School's art gallery, he clearly walked me through the options and got me much less expensive, but almost as good, replacements for the original fixtures (which are no longer available.) For my kitchen lighting, he helped me figure out a very complicated cable LED fixture system, was always helpful and on time, and worked well with my electrician. Wonderful selection of lighting fixtures, lamps, etc. We dealt with Jesse. Showed him a photo of our house and he showed us several styles besides the one we saw and liked. He gave us some very knowledgeable tips and was very pleasant and professional. He had to order it and told us about when it would arrive and called exactly on that day/date. As soon as our builder installs it, we anticipate it will look good and if so, will order 5 more. It's very clear this is a place that knows what they're doing. An excellent experience! UPDATE: We ordered 5 additional identical lighting fixtures because the first one looked great when installed. This time, Berkshire Lighting Outlet absorbed the cost for two day shipping from the manufacturer rather than have us wait for their regular shipping date, which would have taken two weeks. Two days later, we received a call that the fixtures were at the store, opened and checked out to make sure there were no problems with them. Do NOT do business here. Wish I had read a previous review before I started with them. I live in the area and try to shop locally as much as I can. I walk in with a smile on my face and am usually treated kindly. I needed 2 sconces for the fireplace in time for a Christmas Party. They were ordered and promised. We had to call as each date got postponed. Excuse after excuse. Today is Wednesday, the party is Saturday. We called again. After having been told it had been shipped last week and would be in Tuesday, they now say it hasn't been shipped yet. I did get a little heated when there was just "Nothing I can do" as a response. We recently moved to the area and have spent the year and a half since doing extensive renovations on an older home (1930's). This has required a crazy number of new lighting fixtures, interior and exterior. At the recommendation of our interior designer, our builder and our electrician, we have relied on Berkshire Lighting for pretty much all, from the simplest replacement of a closet light to some cutting edge chandelier and sconce lights, motion detection outdoor spots, etc. In every case, we had knowledgeable help, from the owner and his right hand guy. They were always able to steer us toward value and quality, not the highest price. If there was ever a problem with a shipment, a defective bulb, or any reason we needed to return or exchange, it was always easy to resolve. Went there to get a fixture repaired and was told it would be ready in one week and would be called. Went to store after 10 days and was told parts not in. They said they would call parts company to which I replied please do it now as I need the light. They dialed the company got a person on the line and put them on hold to "run upstairs for a part number". They completed call upstairs and returned saying part would be in in 3 days. When I questioned why it is taking so long the owner suggested I take my light back as he doesn't make much money on repairs and doesn't need the aggravation. I in fact did take the light and all future business from him and brought to s and a electric where the part will be in tomorrow! Business must be good. read more

Although we ultimately did not purchase anything from this store, Ross was super helpful at walking us through the fixtures that would make the most sense for our living room ceiling. We learned about the benefits of different mounting systems and of having the bulbs facing up from the fixture below, rather than hanging below from a fixture above, in order to better diffuse the light onto the ceiling and to prevent people from looking into the glare of the bulbs themselves. We talked with him about different light bulb options, and he was a real expert in the subtle but ultimately significant differences in the prairie style fixtures we were considering. We were visiting the Berkshires last week from San Francisco, and when we returned home eventually decided against the fairly angular look of the otherwise gorgeous fixtures on display in the store, but I'm writing this review as a thank-you for the excellent guidance and expertise we will be able to make us of going forward. read more
